I like this thread, I have listened to metal since I remember because my parents liked metal a lot. They visited festivals in The Netherlands and some big names including Cradle of Filth and Rammstein came to those festivals. I still got some of my parents CD's including two from Sepultura, two from Bolt Thrower, and one from Cradle of Filth called Nymphetamine. My father has seen Danni Filth too at the market at the festival. I don't listen metal a lot but I sure do sometimes. In the summer I visited my first metal festival with Avatar and Ensiferum and I liked it a lot.

It's one of my favorite Metal songs but I'm not sure under which sub genre this falls. I have it under Power Metal currently, because it definitely sounds more "powerful" than usual Heavy Metal music but it's speed makes me wonder if it might actually be Speed Metal?

I generally use "heavy metal" as an umbrella term in my music collection if it's one that kinda fits in a few, especially speed and power metal, so I'd put it under that, although it depends on the rest of the album too.

Saw Skinless for the second time this year with hometown bands Abnormality, Dysentery and Scalpel. All the bands were great. Skinless is getting up there as far as my favorite death metal bands go. Really fun show. The pit got pretty f*cked up. Next up is King Diamond tomorrow. Abigail is one of my favorite albums of all time and he's performing all of it so I can't tell you how excited I am for that.

Damn dude, looks amazing. I'm still waiting for them to play their new stuff in Australia, hopefully they come down here some time next year. I've never really understood the hate that they get from a lot of the metal community, I find them to be a really unique band and I can't say I've heard many metal bands with vox like Papa Emeritus, I'd probably pip him at one of the best modern metal vocalists.

 

I low-key think that the bass player is Jason Newsted by the way, Jason has seemingly disappeared from the public eye for the last two years which would make sense with Ghost's peaking popularity, and their bass player has a REALLY similar stance to Jason.

 

We may never know...
