The town I live in has a thriving metal scene that has probably a hundred metal bands, all doing something fresh and exciting in their sub genres. From Doom, to Stoner, to Thrash, to Crust Punk, to Black... our scene is strong. Much stronger than your apparently empty point of view.

Lucky you. My whole COUNTRY is full of sh*t that is pop and damn folk, all sounding pretty much the same.

OBITUARY, EXHUMED, NOISEM (which I'm hoping is a Nasum noise cover band)

Tickets are $25 though? That's why I'm on the fence. Also it's at a venue who do pay to play ticket sales for local bands, which is absolute horsesh*t.

Noisem are tight. You may dig em.

Sorry to hear that man.

Though a quick Google search brought me to this:

http://bosnian-metal.blogspot.co.uk/2010/12/bands.html

I'm judging this on the flag under your avatar - Bosnia & Herzegovina, right? Looks like a reasonable selection of bands to check out, and I'm sure there's more than are listed here. I'm not familiar with any of these bands, but it wouldn't hurt to try and see them!

I guess it's not the first or most obvious choice for many bands planning tours, though most bands are open to seeing new places if there's enough people interested in seeing them. Get your metal head friends together and contact bands!

Or start your own band. That's the best way to do it.

f*ck me. I guess the real problem is not having any metalhead friends at all, and not even looking for this stuff. And I thought my country had nothing. Well that got my hopes up big time! Thanks for sharing that info.

Edit: So after doing some research, turns out there's gonna be a metal gig in town on my birthday, the next Saturday. Sounds like a good time to start :p

Not big on Behemoth at all but I dig that new album a lot.

I wish I could find out what the deal with this cover is. It isn't on the album so I have no clue. It's a really killer cover though not metal.

Like metalsucks said, but I don't agree 100% for sure.

I’ve been listening to metal for 25 years, and from what I can tell, the metal scene has remained frozen in 1995. In contrast to other genres, who are all about what’s fresh, new and interesting, metal just seems content to keep talking about the same f*cking bands year after year after year, and I just don’t get it.

Weird, I see Metal as being the only genre that isn't affected by fads and gimmicks, and has consistently innovated for the last 25 years, whereas other genres come and go overnight.

no words for the ignorance of this statement...

You know, Metal as a genre stopped being an unified movement with an overall direction like 20 years ago.

At this point it is so heterogeneous that theres no point in arguing what it is or isnt, metal is just a label that can be applied to bands (i cant even say bands, for theres Mortemia) that are oceans apart....

I been listening to Stratovarius again and found that nobody has removed the 6-8 years old videos, not even copyright cares about this music.

Dirty sludge/doom goodness.

Crusty black/stoner sludge, largely unheard of band but they're absolutely f*cking amazing.

Been in an old-school thrash mood for the past few weeks. 1988 was the golden year if you ask me, evident by songs like this...those riffs are just unstoppable:

Bad ass. I need to get to screen printing some new Grey Host art.

That looks like an amazing lineup, btw. I'm not a fan of Converge's music that well, but holy f*ck are they good live.

Been jamming on some Wo Fat lately.

Also, we're desperately hoping to open for Swans next year when they come through.

I've looked into opening for Swans when they played my town. If you haven't already been hand-picked to open by Gira, you're not opening for Swans. The guy is a complete megalomaniac and is very, VERY picky about who gets to play with them. But... good luck!

Ten years since Dimebag Darrell's death.

R.I.P. Dimebag

Although I was only 7 at the time, I remember the day because my mum, who is a massive Pantera fan, was crying horrendously, almost as if a member of her own family had died.

He was a legend.

I actually prefer German thrash :D It's weird because I grew up in the bay area but my first real introduction came from compilations like Doomsday News and the Best of Metal Blade 2, with my favorite tracks being from Sodom, Destruction, Deathrow, Tankard etc. And this band, who I felt were criminally overlooked yet could shred up a storm:

All the Sodom links just keep getting me more excited to see them at MDF.

Dropdead had to drop out of the Pig Destroyer here next week which is a bummer but Tombs is replacing them so that should be f*cking rad.

As for Converge they're opening for At the Gates. I'm not big on At the Gates (I don't dislike them or anything I just don't listen to them a whole lot) but I may go to that show just to see Vallenfyre and Converge. Last time I saw Converge I got busted open and HOB kicked me out cause they didn't want me bleeding all over their floor I guess. Great live though.

Ufomammut is a special kind of sonic weight. I'd love to go to Desertfest or Roadburn soon. MDF is up on the list first, though.

Also, really digging on this Moab release from that I slept on this summer: http://www.scionav.com/2014/06/16/download-moab-billow-lp-scion-av/

I bought this yesterday. If you are a Terrorizer fan, then this is essential. Absolutely classic old school Grindcore.
