Listening to a lot of Thrash and Crossover tonight, does anyone like Municipal Waste and D.R.I?

Yeah. Municipal Waste is f*cking righteous live, too. Great guys, though I think I outpartied them the last time they were in town. My buddy and the guitarist Ryan outlasted the rest of them, passing around a bottle of Jack.

Saw Wolves in the Throne Room last night - it was incredible, as usual. Thou was late, and I ended up leaving around 1. I did pick up the new WITTR record though, so I'll pop that in today.

Municipal Waste are great. I like a bit of crossover thrash. Cro Mags, SOD, Agnostic Front too.

Violator and Nuclear Assault is what i'm listening to right now, it's awesome. Also been listening to Leeway's Born To Expire and Municipal Wastes The Art Of Partying.

Yeah I love Cro-Mags & Agnostic Front (earlier stuff though), seen them both live.

If you dig those guys, check out Toxic Holocaust. Great throwback thrash.

EDIT: Bahah, I meant Toxic Holocaust, not Nuclear.

Those dudes put on such a good show, loved their whole atmosphere on stage. About to order their new album from the Southern Lord store as a matter of fact. And thrash wise, check out Toxic Holocaust too, those guys are awesome.

We played them ^ on The Root of All Evil. I trekked down to the famed / infamous radio show of the late Earl Root. While there, I heard I maybe asked to supply content for a film Bio-pic on Earl Root, the man, the MC of LOCAL metal, and I was a bit taken aback. I know you guys don't know him and use his name to poke fun at me, but if you love people who make a statement in METAL music, were there from the earliest - middle era of the movement, Earl was one of those men, and he was MASSIVE in size and scope, though he kept what he did localized, I think having as many irons in the fire as he did, kept his one main musical act from getting as big as others, at least there WAS some infighting and mis-steps, these things did happen and happen more then you know. anyone trying to keep a band together should know, that alone is a task, Earl worked the scene in all capacities!

I came across this on the Tube, very odd, in one respect

Heard it with a friend today, I only liked Heritage and The Devil's Orchard and Marrow of the Earth.

I wish The Devil's Orchard solo was longer...

Yes we did .. the solo was great wink.gif

I really like Reign In Blood. For some time now, I only listen to Dead Kennedys and Ramones. And the Misfits too. I like old punk bands. But this Slayer album I think is super cool. The guitar sounds so good man, and every song kicks ass. The lyrics are funny as hell. DO YOU WANNA DIE!? or ENTER THE REALM OF SATAN! This kind of stuff is funny as hell to me. The words to it give off this horror movie vibe, sort of like the Misfits. I think they had tons of ideas for this album that were clever and came out really good. It's heavy but also catchy. It's just a really fun album. So that's it. I hope you guys don't make fun of me, cause I don't like getting yelled at and having my feelings hurt and stuff. I'm pretty sensitive. I'm just reaching out to talk about all the cool sh*t about this album. Like that lightning bolt and the rain at the end of the album before it cuts off.

Yep, I never was a fan of punk, per se, but unlike some of the brash kids today, I won't nail you for liking what you like, I always wonder why someone can't enjoy what I put in my CD RACK, basically the LP collection you'd want on your portable library iPod, you know?? Only for me, MiniDisc! haha

Earl Root's show ROAE really helped when prior shows lost their drive and support, his continues unabated by time and trends, though not without problems being on a small public radio channel, but the selections over 5 hours a week of music on radio, unlike anything else.

Back in 1987, CIRCA.... We had The Metal Shop, a local and National version of the same show in a way, one more pro then the other, you can guess which, but both were the epitome of good solid METAL and Hard Rock, I never regretted one second of listening and enjoying those programs, I pine for something like that, ZROCK was on AM radio here and on FM a few short times as well, but it was based in San Antonio TX perhaps? Maybe Moonshield recalls, but it's gone. It was most notable for a REAL METAL vibe and a radio circus feel, and V*Rock on GTA came out of that I'm sure.

Love this silly anthem

Something for you school age kids to inspire you! haha

Speaking of the best cheese of TS, This video is all but complete, the best extended version I can find of the original We're Not Gonna Take It. The video actually starts with the family at the dinner table and the young son asks to be excused and goes to his room, so no real talking other then the "Can I be Excused?", but it sets the stage for the other cut-away scenes of the family

An idea of the setting geography as well. I like to see this archived with the line "Twisted Sister pin, on your uniform", and "Sick, repulsive electric twanger" but cut out of all the YouTube clips, including Rhinos official WMG channel

I got the new Anthrax album today and I have to say, it's f*cking awesome. It's great to hear Joey Belladonna back on vocals and there are some quality riffs throughout the album, not to mention some great solos. I recommend this as a purchase for any thrash/heavy metal fan.

I didn't know Anthrax had a new album coming out. I'm not a huge Anthrax fan. But I did recenlty learn Megadeth have a new album coming out. I'm a little more excited for that.

I'm of the belief that the 'Big 4' should stop making new music and just tour regardless with their old material. That way their setlists aren't soured with anything new.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to listen to 50-year-olds making thrash! Though I do understand that continuing to make music is probably what keeps them alive at this point and gives their lives some purpose, it's just, it's not like they could possibly have anything more to offer the world in terms of music.

I'll still listen, of course. The curious fan inside of me wants to listen...I just won't give them any money for it. I would pay to them live, however, If they ever come to Australia. I don't have a passport...so seeing them India (best option for me) is out as an option for me. dontgetit.gifsad.gif

Somebody wake me when Dream Theater and Mastodon release their new albums.

That's tomorrow, right? whatsthat.gif

New Anthrax is actually really solid, really surprising. The new Megadeth song they released though is pretty much dogsh*t, though slightly better sounding dogsh*t since that hack Andy Sneap isn't producing it.

So I guess we aint a fan of Megadeth's Endgame then? I thought that was pretty awesome to be honest.

This I have to disagree with. And anyway, it's in a musicians DNA to write new music. It must get beyond tedious playing the same songs for 20-30 years, writing new stuff keeps the mind fresh.

I agree with you, but this is also relative. Look at all the bands who changed for the worse. Metallica, for example. Yes, I know they constantly get dumped on, but that's obviously for a reason. Pantera, on the other hand changed for the better. MUCH better in fact.

Anyways, I digress. I really started to enjoy doom metal. I used to be the thrash type of guy. I started with Desert/Sludge, and now I'm exploring further.

I really dig the appeal of slower, heavier music, moreso than thrash.

Just got back from Opeth and man was that crowd divided. I wasn't surprised that they were gonna do an entirely clean vocal set but eh, couldn't of used at least Demon of the Fall. The whole set to me was basically one big cocktease because I thought at some point they'd run out of clean vocal songs and end up finally doing To Bid you Farewell but it never came. =/

Setlist:

Devil's Orchard

Feel the Dark

Face of Melinda

Porcelain Heart

Nepenthe

Throat of Winter

Credence

Patterns in the Ivy 2

Closure

Slither

A Fair Judgement

Hex Omega

Encore:

Folklore

A lot of new and obscure stuff. Gotta say Throat of Winter was amazing live. Also, I'm reading from the setlist but I don't remember Closure being played.

They just happen to be my favourites too. The Devil You Know isn't bad either, I also like the start of Judas Priest but it gets a bit too boring after that.

Seeing vids about the DIO protesters at his funeral, now I believe there is probably a God, let's say, and DIO was more a guy who felt we embody the Spirit of God so to speak, but anyone that influential was in a good way, touching thousands of lives, and we can never say too many good things about that, so with that, more memories from the BIG FOUR...

So my Evile Five Serpents' Teeth order was delayed through Amazon, apparently some middle men f*cked up. Ol Drake tweeted that all those affected should send an email to Earache Records and anyone who missed out on their Amazon order would get free promotional stuff. I'm not sure what I'm getting but how awesome is that? Evile (props to Earache too) really are head and shoulders above their peers when it comes to caring for their fans. I say while looking at the signed Evile ticket stub on my wall. Top lads.

Deadicated, middle finger high, to the HATERS! TO THE DEATH!!!!!!

VoiVod's mantra holds true for eva

More of the same! (sentiment)

If you look at this song and the style, DarkT are giving credence to VoiVod, sounds like to me! hahaha

Everyone should learn something behind the bands, Some of Dark Throne with Fenriz

Funny stuff at times, other times, you're thinking, I know metal heads like that, nothing ALL that unusual...scary, about certain Black Metal or Satanist approach.

However, just to talk on the protesting Christians of metal and rock music....

Hope he didn't mean face me, the MF Christian metal lover?! hahaha

All Thrash fans, you should know this band?!

Not entirely impressed by the new Mastodon album. I'm digging this [Mastodon's The Sparrow], though:

Yeah, their progressive side is really rich in this song.

Just finished up tracking vocals last night for all our songs, and my throat is tired! We added some throat chanting for ambiance in our newest song, and it sounds pretty f*cking cool. We should be good to release by the end of October!

Did you ever get a MySpace page going for your band? I believe a lot of musical bands still maintain a spot on MySpace
