So the new Anaal Nathrakh album has been finished 100% and is now awaiting a release date. They're also officially announcing a tour (or show?) in California. Hopefully I'll get lucky with the dates and I'll go see them from way up north.

It's almost like a cross between Hex and Bees made Honey - Dylan returned to the atonality of his guitar than with Bees, and it's much darker. The ensemble he put together is great, especially the cello, though I really miss Steve Moore on this. I'm definitely going to be getting this on vinyl when it comes out.

I streamed it when NPR had it up, it's really, really good. Waiting for Southern Lord to put the LP version up for sale on their sight, figure I'll get whateer LP/shirt combo they have.

I've found that SL will slip some random little things into your orders. Ordered Heavy Breathing by Black Breath and the 7" from Baptists from them, and they sent me 3 posters. One Om one, a Probot one, and a Sunn one, was pretty awesome, and I just ordered The Curse of Martha Splatterhead by The Accused, the BXI EP, Ample Fire Within by Ascend, and Monument to Time End by Twilight on LP, lets see if they send me anything else cool with those.

After years of trying to catch them, I finally saw Nachtmystium. Just got back, f*cking solid performance.

 

Also picked up a shirt of death doing some blow off a casket, their "Demise" album and the "Worldfall" EP.

 

The one I have is slightly different, the slogan is on the back and encompasses a syringe.

 

I find it funny how they're supporting Cradle of Filth though. Whom I didn't stick around for. The bands before Nachtmystium were Turisas and Daniel Lioneye. Turisas was okay. Sort of like Moonsorrow but with safety pads. Daniel Lioneye was just a sh*tstorm of terribleness.

Sure, maybe played ad naseum on every "hurrrd rawk" radio station ever to exist, but you can't deny Tony's f*cking tone, or the fact that they're one of THE greatest doom forefathers. Also, there's a disturbing lack of Witchfinder General in your list. Also, where's the Nadja love?

I'm sure the lads in Anathema, Katatonia and Paradise Lost would be thrilled to hear you speak of their mates in Opeth in such terms. I mean, why would Paradise Lost tour with Opeth back in 2006? Does that mean Paradise Lost are now part of the the "poser" bourgeoisie because they dared to tour with a band that earned critical success?

 

There would be no damn metal without bands like Maiden, Priest and Sabbath.
