New choonz!

Very 70s feel to this (as per usual for The Sword, but even more so). A big step up in terms of big jams and mixing from their last one.

 

Ancestors - Of Sound Mind

This is f*cking good! It's got the same psychedelic jam sound as their previous one does, but more King Crimson feel to it, and occasional break into some really heavy/doomy, Neurosis-esque jams in some sections. Something you'd hear in a spirit trip.

 

Plus picked up the new Enslaved. It's almost a mix of their older and newer stuff. Think Blodhemn meets Rhun, along with some Opethy interludes. Pretty great, and I def. already dig it more than Vertebrae.

Holeeeeeeeeey sh*t! Monstrous show man. Kylesa was probably better than I'd ever seen them, Torche did seem a little off, but High on Fire f*cking crushed it. All of their sets seemed a little short, but they show ended right at 12.

Think I'm gonna see Tryptikon on thursday. Keep seeing the add for the show on my facebook, checked it out and there playing with 1349 and yakuza(neither of who I'm familer with, but whatever) and it's only 20 bucks. Plus I'm sure there gonna play some CF stuff since theres only like 9 songs on the Tryptikon album, so that should be fun.

I'm in complete agreement, Jupiter is a f*ckin awesome album. I love the frenzied pace in the intro of Second Sun that kicks the album off, it totally caught me off guard.

 

Almost as good as Unquestionable Presence in my opinion, need a few more listens though.

i don't really poke my head into here that often, but I was wondering do any of you metalheads, that actually listen to a variety of metal dip down into crust? Bands like:

Civil Disobedience, AusRotten.

 

Or any thrash?

 

 

I know it's really blending the lines between metal, and punk but I mean you can look at bands like Slayer, or C.o.C and there's an obvious sound and play style difference. i'm sure a lot of you wont consider C.o.C a metal band though, which is very understandable.

For the most part, that was pretty good. The Vader-esque thing they were doing right when the vocals came in, and the slam riffs they threw in there I wasn't too keen on (sounds like a lot of those Vader/Morbid Angel ripoff deathbore bands that do nothing but that regurgitated bullsh*t), but I was really digging the rest of it. They Norwegian?

 

They kind of remind me of Neuraxis, kind of mathy, well-produced Death Metal:
