Scarface187 222 Posted March 12, 2007 Still, Dio Sabbath is touring soon. I'd see that instead. Heaven and hell? And touring along with megadeth. Yeah, that. That should be a blast.
Megalodon 0 Posted March 12, 2007 (edited) Still, Dio Sabbath is touring soon. I'd see that instead. Heaven and hell? And touring along with megadeth. Yeah awesome news that Megadeth have announced a lot of concerts including a European tour. I will be seeing them on the 10th of June in Dublin, should be a blast. Megadeth are definitley my favourite band along with Mastodon, who I saw last weekend. And I must say they put on an excellent show playing 9 songs of Blood Mountain and all the best songs from Leviathon and Remission. Megadeth are definitley my favourite band along with Mastodon, who I saw last weekend. And I must say they put on an excellent show playing ten songs of Blood Mountain and all the best songs from Leviathon and Remission. Did you see Mastodon with Against Me! and Cursive? I'm so going to that show, I don't care if Against Me!'s fans are 13 year old idiot girls.
Megalodon 0 Posted March 12, 2007 Did you see Mastodon with Against Me! and Cursive? I'm so going to that show, I don't care if Against Me!'s fans are 13 year old idiot girls. No none of them bands were at the gig I saw. We got stuck with some band called Triggerman from Northern Ireland and a band called The Saviours from the U.S. In all the support was fairly mediocre but all was made up for when Mastodon took the stage. Here is the set list that was played: 1.This Mortal Soil 2.The Wolf Is Loose 3.Crystal Skull 4.Capillarian Crest 5.I am Ahab 6.Sleeping Giant 7.Circle of Cysquatch 8.Iron Tusk 9. March of the Fire Ants 10.Bladecatcher 11.Colony of Birchmen 12.Siberian Divide 13.Blood and Thunder 14.Megalodon 15.Aqua Dementia 16.Hearts Alive 17. Encore: Cover of Emerald by Thin Lizzy which was awesome considering it was an Irish gig. There was also another song from Remission that I cant remember, so as you can see it was a solid set list. Unbelieveable. And now I just realised I can't go cause I've got a holiday booked! God dammit. Think they'll play here again anytime soon?
Trows 11 Posted March 12, 2007 Mastodon bore the HELL out of me. I honestly can't see what the big deal is, usually with bands I don't like but a lot of people do, I can understand why. But with Mastodon, I can see no reason to listen to them.
The-King 201 Posted March 12, 2007 In that The Wolf Is Loose song I noticed something that sounded like a Shuldiner riff, or it may just be me. Mastodon is boring though, the only interesting part is the drummer who is pretty good.

topdogkiller 0 Posted March 14, 2007 yea megadeth are kickass man. Mustaine is a beast on the axe and great songwriter. I always hate when metallica fans start to talk sh*t.
Marmolade 0 Posted March 15, 2007 I listen to some sludge like Sloth, Tile (local), and Noothgrush. I also like EyeHateGod (sorry if the name is a little offensive) a little. I also like Macabre. I ALSO listen to loads of grindcore and grindy powerviolence.
jcab42 0 Posted March 15, 2007 (edited) If you guys find yourself in Atlanta, make sure to check out The Masqerade. It's three venues in one and they get really great metal bands in there. I went to see my friend's band and I wandered off to check the other stages and that's when I discovered "Draped In Sorrow", a great Opeth facsimily. You can here their demos at myspace.com/drapedinsorrow -- they make no secret of the Opeth/Katatonia influence. Also been checking out some Netherlandic sh*t. Obsidian (www.obsidian.nu) is an awesome black death band with rhythms that rival Meshuggah but more musical with a much more extreme variety of textures. For instance, unlike the rest of the album, "Tsujigiri" has slow parts that sound like Morbid Angel, complete with some of the best tremlo work I've ever heard. Another one from that country is Boodbastard (www.myspace.com/blood_bastard). Outstanding death-grind, very brutal. Edited March 18, 2007 by jcab42

If it were up to which of the band members are good I'd definitely say the guitar players. If you don't believe me then listen to Capillarian Crest, great song. Scarface187 222 Posted March 22, 2007 (edited) So I see some of the bands for Ozzfest 2007. Even though I could really care less, I noticed that Lordi and Nile were on the list which I thought was a first. Then just a few minutes ago I read this bulletin from the Nile myspace. Been getting a lot of messages about Ozzfest, and the general concensus is, we are either giving a good reason for metalheads to go to the show, or we're going someplace we don't belong becuase we're "too heavy for Ozzfest". Well, here's how I see it. There is a brief scene in Pvt Ryan, during the opening sequence on the Normandy beach , where just for a few seconds the camera moves to a viewpoint of a German Machine Gunner - looking over his machine gun sights down onto the beach-who is laying waste to countless U.S. soldiers as the doors open up to their boats and they are all just helpless and vulnerable , in the water and struggling onto the beach ,exposed to devastating machine gunfire - and from this vantage point, one can not help but get the feeling , if only for a moment , of what it must feel like to be that machine gunner , with so many helpless targets right in your sights to mow down at will. Of course , for that Machine Gunner , you also feel that , however awesome it must be for those priceless few moments of Godly Slaughter , t will inevitably be short lived , because he is soon to be roasted alive in his Bunker as soon as Tom Hanks and friends make it up the hill. But for those few moments of unimpeded opportunity to mow down wave after wave of helpless targets , it had to be utterly Godly. Thats why we are doing Ozzfest. We will be the first Real Death Metal Band to ever play Ozzfest , and the chance to lay waste to thousands and Thousands of Mall Metal Posers is just too once-in-a-lifetime to pass up. In the words of Ross Dolan, "Metal will take place" I could care less about how much incredible exposure it will be to play Ozzfest ; I am just thrilled at the possibility of Metal Carnage on a Mass Scale. Those Venues will look like Omaha Beach when we are done. -Karl Oh man. Edited March 22, 2007 by Scarface187

Bigs 16 Posted March 22, 2007 A few days ago a friend of mine let me borrow a two-song demo he had by the band Threat Signal. I really like it, I'm gonna have to get some more stuff from them.
The-King 201 Posted March 22, 2007 I've listened to Threat Signal, could hardly stand the first minute of the song, once it got to some whiney punk vocals I turned it off right then and there.
Bigs 16 Posted March 22, 2007 Yeah, I can see why you wouldn't like them. I'm not too much of a fan of the whiney vocals they use in their choruses either. I really like the drums and guitar though.
Moonshield 9,876 Posted March 22, 2007 lol, I'm heading up to Columbus tonight for Giant Squid, I find out Skeleton Witch is playing with Arsis and Beneath the Massacre across town. I guess I'll miss them for once. Giant Squid is going to be sick.

Jealous over here. I know the feeling. I had just lost an auction for the original release of Killing Is My Business, and then a friend ended up getting it for about ten bucks. But I ended up getting it from him for 10, so it all worked out.
