Demos. . .

and puppies!

I thought Static-X was dead for good after Mr. Static himself passed. Apparently not. . .

Tony has become the sole owner of the Static X rights. So he basically can do whatever he feels like with Static X now.

Another gold demo.

Never knew that. Static-X was one of the first bands to get me into metal a little over a decade ago. So, I do appreciate them for that. Of course, I really don't care much for industrial metal outside of some occasional Raubtier.

I quite fancy many of the early Savatage/Avatar demos. Much of the stuff would later be rerecorded or worked into other songs. For instance, "Minus Love" and "Doctor Surprise" became "Father Time" on Jon Oliva's solo album. "Do You Want Me Now?" is also an underrated track that I wish would have made it onto, say, "Power of the Night." Probably one of the very first songs that could possibly fall into the USPM mold? Not sure.

For fans of "The Dungeons Are Calling." This band was also from Tampa, go figure.

@CryptReaperDorian

I had the opportunity to hear that demo from Avatar and the Sirens rare blue one in LP versions.

I was able to get the rare Sirens LP some years ago because my friend sells it about 100 bucks but don't tell me after some weeks, and he has still that demo but he doesn't sell it for anything. :(

A hidden gem.

Vocals remember me a mix between Blitz from Overkill or Wayne from Metal Church

The artwork for this is entirely appropriate...a total face melt.

That Tension album is quite awesome, I must say. You can rarely go wrong with that style. I know that earlier Savatage/Avatar recordings are exceedingly rare and quite valuable, as are some of the awesome tour posters I've seen. Before joining them, Zak Stevens and Jeff Plate did the following.

Much of the Wicked Witch material would be reworked and rerecorded in 2009 under the name "Machines of Grace." That 2009 album actually a very solid hard rockin' metal album, with a bit of an easy-listening AOR tinge, to listen to for a casual and scenic Sunday drive. A small label called "20th Century Music" is selling these Wicked Witch demos today for $8 as part of a Black Friday sale. I'm quite tempted to purchase it. That's getting Savatage-related stuff mostly out of the way for the time being, since I can go on for days about them.

Have some Sacred Oath. This is one of my favorite albums as of current.

Funny thing GTA got me into metal, specifically V-Rock.

V-Rock is a mix of ass-kickery and dumb fun, if I must admit. Yeah, even much of the "dreaded" glam material, even if it's not quite my first pick. The GTA VCS V-Rock playlist is quite underappreciated in comparison to the GTA VC playlist, even if it could have used three or four more songs. One can't argue against "Queen of the Reich" and "Holy Diver."

Went back a little bit, but couldn't see anyone talking about it.

How are we feeling about their new album?

Not quite sold on it yet, but I dig this song.

It's a bit of a grower. I'm about half a dozen spins through. I didn't particularly get on with it at first (though "Forward! is a particularly strong track) but I'm starting to really like it now.

I remember buying their third album 'Manic Impressions' and giving them a try a few years ago and they are awesome.

This guy had screamed like Chuck Schuldiner (Sound of Perseverance era) and they were openers for DEATH, but they were deserved to become a bigger band at the time releasing their last monumental album.

All discography available on the official website for free and are fresh still to this day. 👏

The vocalist reminds me much more of Agent-Orange-Era Tom Angelripper.

Another 30 years old gem, I remember finding them in an old Blogspot a long time ago.

I'm glad having this in my CD collection, the debut is great, but this is my favorite.

I honestly consider the VCS soundtrack to be superior to that of VC, and possibly the best in the whole series. I'd add "Electric Eye" and "Breaking the Chains" at the very least.

Just about to make my way to the train to catch my first, and most likely last Slayer show. Sad that Holt had to go home, but the replacement is crushing it apparently.

I'm hoping Slayer do side shows when they come down under for Download. Can't really justify spending a hundred plus for a ticket, not to mention airline fees and what not just to see the only band on the bill I want to catch.

Meanwhile, how's this for a line up....Neobliviscaris, Caligula's Horse, Allagaeon, Beyond Creation and Rivers of Nihil, touring Australia next year. Hot f*cking damn...would legit be an amazing birthday present provided they announce a show in my home city (which they haven't 😥)

That's a pretty diverse billing. Prog/tech heavy yes but I wouldn't normally expect to see Caligula's Horse play with Beyond Creation.

Yeah. They f*cking crushed it. I'm broken today. Phil Demmel was insane.

My favorite album of them.

Another great band with a nice discography, I discovered them via Blogspot a long time ago.

And... oh yes, TARGET!

One of tonight's supports for Psycroptic...rather heavy on the Gojira influences but that's not a bad thing IMO.
