GTA3Freak-2001
Does anyone know of any viruses or spy-ware that would cause me to not be able to move my desktop icons around? For some strange reason whenever I try and drag an icon to another part of the desktop it will not stay where I unclick it. I've tried looking at all the desktop icons settings and there are no auto-arrange or icon locking enabled so I am worried its some kind of unknown thing. I have of course scanned with the large arsenal of virus scanners and spyware removers that I have and yet they don't find anything strange. Its not like I care this PC has been replaced with something better but in the meantime while I get the new one up and running its an annoying problem that's driving me nuts. Brutuz
Make sure you have Auto Arrange off, cuz that just puts it back straight away.

Read This Especially the part about Styles that have been applied, as I notice by the pciture you've supplied you aren't using a default Theme for Windows, so that is what is probably causing your problems
Mr.Stevo
Thanks man...yeah the problem was that the theme's shellstyle was messed up.
GTA3Freak-2001
Nevermind for some reason its back to normal, anyway does anyone know how you enable in Windows XP the ability to have icons like My Computer, My Documents etc. display on the desktop without having to change the start menu to the classic style? I've totally forgotten how I did it on my current PC. Oh and where is the option to turn off the adding of "Shortcut To" when you create a shortcut? [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer] "link"=hex:00,00,00,00 This and many other things is what TweakUI is great for. It'll do some hidden settings for you without you having to worry about doing the reg hack yourself.
Attorney General
My itunes program has been acting weird lately. Since I turned on my cpu today, I' unable to run it. I get a message reading... "itunes cannot run because some of it's required files are missing. Please reinstall itunes". I remember first having trouble with it when version 7.0 came out and I tried to update to it, however the update stalled every time at the end when it said "registering modules". After that, I could still run itunes by going to the start menu and then "run program", but today I can't access it at all. Is there any way to fix this and keep from losing the 2,800 songs I already have stored in the program? Any help is appreciated.
Spenc938
As far as I know, uninstalling Itunes does not delete your music. That wouldn't make any sense. Just re-install it. Edited July 18, 2007 by Spenc938

The CPU is just the Brain of the computer. Also, the songs shouldn't be stored within iTunes. They should be saved elsewhere on your PC. Me, I say iTunes is crap, Apple still hasn't fixed the glitch with the original shuffle that causes it not to be recognized and usable. If all you want is to transfer your music, look to some better freeware that won't crap all over you.
Bauer
My Father's Compaq laptop, running Vista, has been making audible clicking sounds when running. They aren't loud, but I have never heard something like this before. It is coming from the hardware, but I don't know what. The click comes and goes, because ten minutes ago it was making the sound every two seconds, and now it is not at all. I'm clueless as always, but all I hope is that you edumacated folks can tell me it is nothing serious.

Get it fixed/replaced before the warrantee expires, unless it has already. In any case, it's most likely the hard drive.
gillies
If it didn't always do it then yeah there is probably something wrong with it, but if it is new it may not be a problem. There is a Inspiron 2200 at my place that has always made clicking noises, but it has been running pretty much 24-7 since it was new (could be ~two years old by now) without any problems. Bauer
Yeah, it is relatively new and I doubt that the warranty has expired. He bought it at Best Buy, though, and I absolutely hate dealing with any box store. Only reason why my Dad bought it from that damned store was because they had a really good deal. Figures. I'll chat it up with my Dad when I can and see if there is a warranty of some sort that we can use to get this thing fixed, if it needs it. It'll probably end up with us calling the store to see what they can do/how much they can screw us. I wil say that the clicking doesn't happen too often. The laptop, which I am now using, has been on ever since my previous post last night. I haven't heard it make any "clicking" noises. Also, a quick Google search showed that there are several people with this problem from a myriad of brands/models of laptops. hmm... edit: I also found this site:Click?. That site's audio links to sounds made by a failing hard drive do not sound similar to the noise that I have heard. But, whatever, it doesn't prove much... GNRFTL
Hopefully the following post makes some sense. Is AGP AGP? I have an old ATI Radeon 9550 and I am looking to replace it with this X1650. So is it a simple case of swapping the cards? AGP cards are all the same right? Not like PCI and PCI-E yeah? I don't need to make sure I get one type of AGP yeah?
Brutuz
Theres AGP 1, 2, 4 and 8x Its all the same slot, just amount of Bandwidth, but I think you'd have a 8x slot, or a 4x slot, and they are compatable, so Yes, it should work.

andibomb
A bug (thunder bug as I think they're known) crawled into my bloody laptop screen and died, smack bang in the bastard centre. And it's really starting to annoy me (it's been there less than a day ). I've read few helpful things on the internet, so I came here for advice. I could probably wait out for its biodegredation, which shouldn't take too long I hope. Is there anything I can do, short of cutting a whole in my screen ripping that little sucker out? Sixdust
What's the best nVidia PCI-E card I could get for under 100 pounds? Are you looking for DX10 compatibility? Fozzy Fozborne
Go for the 7600GT, it's been said many times that the 7600GT will beat the 8600GTS and GT in DX9 gaming (today's gaming) and the 8600GT/GTS will not be powerful enough to run tomorrow's games. If you can afford it and you have an SLI board, get two 7600GT's and run them in SLI. If you can only afford one, then one is enough to run all of todays games well. GNRFTL
That still doesn't help me finding out if I need an X Watt power supply though.
GTA3Freak-2001
Well I know my old 6600GT required 350watts minimum so now I am only guessing here but I would assume a X1650 uses more power.
