anus
I've accidentally deleted two files in the WINDOWS/Installer directory and now there's a certain game I can't install anymore (crysis). Do I have to reinstall Windows? That seems like the folder for the Windows Installer, try downloading the latest Windows Installer and installing it, it should fix it. gtamodder
I need help with this... I am trying to extract a .RAR File, all files extract fine, except one file. It gives an error message saying CRC Failed. The file is corrupt I tried using WinZip, Winrar, Windows compressed folders, downloading the same thing 4 times, and it still won't work. I tried downloading with Opera, FireFox, IE, And none work. What can I do to fix it?
Edmachine
Simple. Nothing. The .rar is broken. There's probably nothing you can do. Maybe try 7z, but most probably won't work anyways, if the file is corrupt. We will be the arms that lift you up We will be the hand that strike you down
anus
I did install the WinInstaller 3.1 and didn't solve the problem. Like Girish said, try repairing the Windows installation. Or, if you remember the names of the files you deleted, you can ry searching for them in Google and then put the files in that folder. @Gtamodder, Yeah, like Ed said it's probably just corrupt, but it could be showing 'CRC failed' if you entered a wrong password (if it has password protection) and try to extract it. Gouveia
So, I have a 440MX, and I heard that this program, 3d Analyzer, could make some games work with it, like Spliter Cell Pandora Tomorrow and Prince of Persia. Is there any way to make Battlefield 2 work on it?

Is there any way to make Battlefield 2 work on it? The lack of pixel shader in your graphic card is causing the game to not run. 3d Analyzer won't help your cause. Battlefield just can't work without pixel shader support.
RoAcHcliP
Hey people I have a problem, I hope its not too confusing. I have an hdtv, which i use as a secondary to my analogue here on my desk. I used to be able to play cs and such in high definition, but now I cant get past 1280x1024 which is what my primary is set to. . When I have my hdtv set as the primary monitor, I get the resolutions I want in my games, but my analogue monitor starts to pan, even though i have both set to 1280x10424! As you can see, my normal monitor is set up as primary, and the resolution is at 1280x1024 which is the highest it goes. This does not let me use my hdtv at any higher resolution in games and its driving me mad! I cant figure it out, it used to work fine! I have them on clone. Both screens in windows are fine when my analogue is primary, but not in games, but if i switch them round so as to make hd gaming possible, (both on 1280x1024 in windows) my analogue starts panning in windows when it should be able to support that resolution! Will it lag or will it run just like it would on a normal tv?

anus
8800GTX isn't really that much better than an 8800GT, and is not worth it if you want to go high-end IMO. If you want high-end in the 8 series, go for an Ultra straight away .
Saget
Anyone ever had that problem where your download rate is higher than 200kB/s, and your network adapter overloads, and then you get a BSOD? Yeah, that's happening to me. |DeviantArt|Flickr|YouTube|#amf|
Picolini
What do you guys think of this PC? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1204331848110 The worst thing is there's not graphics card, but a Q6600 w/ 3GB RAM, and it's got a 350W PSU (good enough for my spare 8600GT), for $750... I think it's pretty good. It'd cost a similar price to make it myself, I know I could probably get the same set up with a card and a 500W PSU for the same price, but thing is I don't have the cash, I'd be putting it on my Best Buy card. This isn't an immediate purchase, probably won't get it for a month or so, if I do. Just wondering what you guys thought.
H4milton
@picolini That web page took me 5min to load and found that the PC is awesome, with a 8800ULTRA or equivalent 3850/3870 you can play CRYSIS at highest detail level(i think). 2GB RAm is enough and 3GB is more than enough as it was COre 2Quad processor

kingvercetti
I shrunk my main C:\ volume using the default Vista tool and made 20GB of unnallocated space. Firstly: Would I be able to install Fedora 9 on this 20GB of unallocated without touching my Vista stuff? Secondly: How can I stop Anaconda (Fedora installer) defaulting to 1600x1200 on my 8800GT, my monitor won't support it so I can't get any further than just before the splash screen. I got a cheap one last time (only £25), but it kept crashing my computer I use, so I had to get a expensive one (works fine)
Kewfmwpj
Hey all, I'm looking at buying a Geforce 8800 GTS, Vista Home Premium and a Gig of ram. Roughly how much will that total? As you can probably tell I don't have a clue with most PC related things, but any estimate on this would be a great help.
