Wolf68k
For Win7 I suggest staying away from OEM OS. Once that OS is installed and registered it's locked to the motherboard. The Upgrade version is just as good as the Full, can be installed as a clean/fresh install just like the Full with only a few extra steps needed, can be reinstalled on a new system just like the Full, and only cost about $15 more than the OEM. Amazon: Windows 7 Home Premium Full: $180 Upgrade: $115 OEM: $100 Family 3-Pack Upgrade (as of right now): $115 Professional: Full: $270 Upgrade: $170 ($30 difference here) OEM: $140 Student Upgrade: normally-$80, right now-$

Wolf68k
True but for a gamer you'll use the same OS for a lot longer than you'll keep a mobo. Up until this year I was still using XP and went through 3 mobo's doing it and started using XP shortly after SP1 came out (you do the math), only because I was broke most of the time but had I had the money I would have updated sooner and more often. And I'm already planning a new mobo and CPU upgrade.

darthYENIK
Does anyone know of a DVD burning software that is capable of burning mp4 video? EDIT: Looking for a free one, by the way. Edited April 22, 2011 by darthYENIK
Wolf68k
http://www.dvdflick.net/ I don't think it directly burns but it will create an ISO that you can use any burning software to burn like ImgBurn for example
yoječ
@Warlord. - nicely put together rig Though the one I posted on previous page has slightly more powerful PSU and also a better graphics card.
anus
Yeah your PSU has 2 more amps on the 12v rail. The 6850 is faster than the 5850 with tesselation though, but yeah, the 5850 is the faster of the two rest of the time .
David.
Do you guys think Thermaltake is a good PSU brand? It's the only one available in my local store.
yoječ
Most of its PSUs are just average.
Finn 7 five 11
i think it is not the worst brand out there, i haven't heard of it, looking around it seems ok, if you are not certain buy online and find a more reputable brand.
Wolf68k
Thermaltake take has average PSUs and also some high end PSUs as well. They are mostly noted for their CPU coolers. @finn4life How the hell have you never heard of Thermaltake? They are mentioned on here a lot for one thing. Then of course are the reviews world wide for many of their products, starting with CPU coolers like I said above but also their PSUs and PC cases. They also do many other coolers as well. They use to have what I thought of as a mass produced ghetto memory cooler. It was a set of memory heatsinks where one of them has a case fan attached to it, the other memory heatsink in the kit was the exact same but of course without the fan. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a terrible thing, you just have to remember this was the early years of memory heatsink and memory cooling. They did help start the memory cooling era that we have today, not with the fan thing but with the memory heatsinks in general.
Edmachine
Hello. Around two months ago, I started having this problem... I'd play an intensive-ish game and at random times, the computer would freeze, sound would stick in place and loop, the image? Well... Whatever this is, happens: http://i.imgur.com/JINzx.jpg I am guessing it's my video cards fault and that it is going to sleep with the fishes soon. Is that likely, or just a driver issue? yoječ
Seems like GPU is dying. Can you post your full system specs? (CPU, GPU, RAM, motherboard, PSU) Is the card overheating?
Edmachine
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.00GHz (stock) nVidia 8800GT 512MB 2GB OCZ DDR2 Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3 500W (I think) PSU The card shouldn't be overheating. When I ran two screens some time ago, while playing IV, the temps could go up to 70°C or more without a problem. Now a simple game like GRID screws it up. I haven't checked the temps while running it, though. They don't sound high. Also, I recently cleaned my PC from dust (though, didn't disassemble). yoječ
GeForce 8 series seem to be very fragile, as it's quite easy to find topics on the Net about damaged card from these series. I'm not sure if there's much you can do other than trying to, following special instructions, "fry" the card in an oven (which, suprisingly enough, often works). Edmachine
If there is one thing I don't want to do, it's putting my card in the oven. I installed RivaTuner and checked my temps (overlay). GRID: went up to 73°C before I quit out of boredom. GTA IV: EFLC - Never above 64°C after a few minutes. That I found very surprising. Might try checking my GRID temperatures tomorrow again. GTA3Freak-2001
Yeah the 8800GT can be fragile, when I had one it also started doing what you are describing but in Fallout 3 mainly. Temperature seemed fine for the card as it was known to run hot without issue, mine also had a funny fan that would make horrible clicking sounds when under load. I didn't keep it long enough to let it fully die though, is your 8800GT a Galaxy?
Edmachine
No, it's an ASUS. Also, other games that make it crash: CoD: WaW and MW2. I can play for about 10 minutes before it spews out a bunch of funny colours for lines. Oh, this one time... I waited a bit. It changed colours slightly and went to a Windows 98 green sort of screen. For a bit. We will be the arms that lift you up We will be the hand that strike you down
Claude Speed.
How do I crop my current signature horizontally into several pictures (with Photoshop), so I can put multiple links there?
Rhoda
It's easier than it seems at first glance. Simply cut your signature into pieces and make them into new files. For example: http://i.imgur.com/DggE8.png http://i.imgur.com/N50zv.png http://i.imgur.com/X84kS.png Then, when you make a HTML link code for someone to click on in your signature, add the appropriate image tag where it says "My Webpage", like this: [img=http://i.imgur.com/DggE8.png] Stick them all together, and what at first looked clumsy now looks like a solid signature: [img=http://i.imgur.com/DggE8.png][img=http://i.imgur.com/N50zv.png][img=http://i.imgur.com/X84kS.png]
Claude Speed.
Lol, you have just cut them vertically, dude! And I need to do this myself. I have the .psd file of this signature that I'm going to edit and add different text. I know how to crop images, but I don't know how to crop one in multiple pics, in theory I could do it in Paint by counting the pixels but that's tedious. Driftking120
hi people, i just got through spaying my computer with compressed air, and i gotta say its worth the 10 dollars you pay, idle temp went from 45 celcius to 39 celcius! also it seems the computer booted up faster and was more responsive, also the fans are now less loud , but im thinking of getting a In Win Dragon Rider for the computer ill be building soon, will the MSI Big Bang Marshal fit inside of it? it says the case supports up to 13" by 12" im good on the width, but the length of the Big Bang Marshal is about half a inch longer, so do you guys think that the Big Bang Marshal will fit inside of it? Thanks to everyone that helps
Wolf68k
According to MSI's website the mobo is a XL-ATX, guessing that means extra large ATX, which I honestly never heard of. If the case says it'll fit a XL-ATX then there won't be a problem getting IT to fit. Getting the rest of your stuff to fit, namely the GFX and HDDs could possibly be an issue. I did a search. Is this the case you're talking about? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811108376 Tip: Links to the products you mention can help us to help you better The details say it support Extended ATX Doing some more searching on Newegg, mind you quick and dirty, I found this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811147094 which says it support E-ATX and XL-ATX (and others) so I'm guessing that E-ATX is Extended ATX which would stand to reason that it different from XL-ATX...and more research from the ATX wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATX supports that.
