Long Haired Freaky Guy
Give me details to the site and exactly what you're doing when you get this so I can try to recreate it myself. In the mean time, as it says the problem might be a cookie issue. Here again I would try to also recreate it with the fresh profile. Gametrailers.com...tried registering on the forum, first by connecting to FB, and that's when I first came across the problem. So I went back to Google, tried loading the site again and again, just to keep getting hit by that error. I couldn't even get onto the forum. leik oh em jeez!
I would try for a Q9505 or Q9550 and a GTX580, assuming your power supply can handle it. If not, then a Q9650 and 8800GTX or GTS250.
Wolf68k
Is this a mobo you already have or one you're going to get? If it's what you're going to get, then I would say skip it and get Core iX (5 or 7) CPU and mobo To be honest, with $600 I would just get build an i7 rig. A mobo, CPU, DD3 RAM, and good (maybe not great) GFX card can easily be had for $600 at Newegg or Amazon.

Finn 7 five 11
If i have a PC and buy a DVI to HDMI cable it can plug into a tv right? I am pretty certain you can, it is just one of those things i forgot can you please clarify for me. Also because DVI doesn't include sound how do i get sound to the TV from the computer? Can i connect the PC to the TV with just HDMI im sure there are PC's that don't need DVI. Edited March 12, 2011 by finn4life
Wolf68k
RTFM Sounds like a cheap way to answer the question but it's the complete truth. Since you didn't give us any info on the TV itself and every TV is different we can't say for sure. Some TV, like my Samsung LN40C550, HDMI 1 is the only port I can do DVI to HDMI and then also use an extra cable for the audio. Other TVs on the other hand might be different and allow any of them to do that. Then some might not support it all only let you get audio from it's accompanying PC port (usually VGA only). Of course since the PC is right there, why not just use the PC speakers to get the audio and be done with it. @[sM]CJZera You're better off asking here http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showforum=
Finn 7 five 11
Alright thanks, i didn't give any info on the tv but you still answered it, thanks. I have another question though, lets assume i have a compatible tv are there MOBOS that output HDMI not DVI, so i could just have a connection like this? HDMI---->HDMI Edited March 12, 2011 by finn4life
Wolf68k
You trying to build a HTPC? Yes there are a bunch of them. Newegg currently has 80 Intel and 90 AMD boards with HDMI.

Wolf68k
I understand but you do know you're throwing money at a CPU socket type that's being phased out? My point is, you have the money now to get something that is be around longer, that is still in it's younger years, so do it now.

Wolf68k
@Gronf Nope. Only on the left side. @d4v1d I had made 2 lists at Newegg. The first using a i7 Socket 1366, 3x RAM kit, and a GTS 460 GFX card. The total was $606, side note the GFX card did have a $5 rebate. The other is an i7-2600 Socket 1155 (Sandy Bridge), 4GB (2x2GB) RAM kit, and a GTX 460. Total was around $570, in which that GFX hard had a $20 rebate. Hell I'm almost tempted to buy and build that myself, which would really just piss me off since I just got Win7 installed and still getting it set up in my current rig. Fozzy Fozborne
Hey guys, is it safe to turn off the paging file in 7? If not, what's the lowest that it's recommended to be set at? I just got a 128gb SSD and Windows gives it 4 gigs for paging. The RAM in the laptop is 4 gigs.
Wolf68k
@Fozzy Normally you want your virtual memory to be 1.5x your physical RAM at the low end and maxed to 2x. If you have 4 or more GBs of physical RAM, then don't worry about the virtual being system default. I've got a 120GB SSD and while I would rather have that 4GB of page file gone or smaller, it's also not hurting me for space. This is also why I got a 1TB drive to put most big installs onto. Although I did install Steam on the SSD which right now is taking about 17GB of space with only 2 games installed, the biggest being Saints Row 2, but then I don't feel the need to install every single game I have on Steam (73 games, 74 when ACBrotherhood comes out). I've still got around 60GBs free, and 66GB used so far on the 1TB. So don't sweat it. I'm leaving the system default setting of 'auto managed' as it is. Waddy
What kind of specs would I need on a non-gaming laptop that I wanted to last me a good four years? Its probably more of what budget you got truthy. Laptops change all the time as you know. I got a HP with the i3 processor last August time and I am really happy with it. Its nice and fast, responsive and I have taken it all over the place. I take it you're looking for Uni? What do you need to have on it? Wouldnt you be better with a 13" screen, nice and portable but still a proper laptop? How much you got? I mean, look at this one http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/toshiba-sate...702397-pdt.html Cant go wrong for that price.

Yeah, I am looking for uni - and also I want one anyway so I figured might as well get one now given I will definitely need one later. £300-£500 is probably doable (if I can stop myself from buying books for a few weeks...), I only really need it to do ordinary things, office and internet, and I think like a 15" screen wouldn't be too bad as I don't really plan to be lugging it around that much. I suppose it doesn't really matter that much given I'm not going to be using it for anything particularly intensive, I'll just get the best I can for my money and just take good care of it. Wolf68k
What's the difference between PCI Express 2.0 x16 and 2.1 x16? Strangely, nothing really. No performance like there is between PCIE 1.0 and 2.0. 2.1 just has a few things that are going to be in PCIE 3.0.
