Hi well I was sort of convinced to post this here, it is my second ever model and its made in Zmod, while it looks rather simple it became a bit of a challenge for me. The wheels are not mine and are made by AD156 so thanks to him for these, and thanks to GTAuron for helping me out when the program started to act funny.

It has 1203 polys.

Something I made really quick:

1993 Mercury Tracer

I tried to make it low poly. I wanted this to be quick and fun, before I start another poly monster(by my standards) that I have planned next. It is 8163 for the main model and 808 per wheel. I planned for less than 10k for everything, but went over with 11399.

I found out, cloth interiors are way harder to replicate than leather interiors...

I'm amazed that my textures get so well received.. I think they aren't that good, and my techniques are derived from laziness and lack of photoshop skills more than anything else. You would be disappointed to see what I actually use for my textures...

Wireframe coming soon

@Burner, you textures so far have been very very excellent, video game quality I'd say. At least better than GTA's stuff so far, maybe not quite as good as GT5, but still very nice. I couldn't get anything that good looking if I tried.

Nice Tracer too. I wouldn't worry about poly count, anything under 20K is great imo.

You really need to find some one to crank these cars out in GTA for you... I'd do it but I'm not huge into modding anymore...

But that Cobra concept really caught my eye. If you want, drop me a PM and I'll see what I can do wink.gif

@freak, please crop your pictures, no need to post the entire screen cap.

Also, you're right, it doesn't look good tounge.gif

But it's your first model, so it's cool. You can't start out great. A wire frame would allow us to point out where you can adjust stuff. Look at the wire frame pictures posted by Burner, his poly layout is perfect. You can learn a lot from that.

It's good. better than I'll ever do.I can't even out a polygon onto the screen. I only learnt how to import a model. I WISH TO MODEL SO BADLY!

Burner - How quick did you say that model was? monocle.gif

For a second I was like '92 Tempo! but then it wasn't. lol good job anyway... You just seem to have a formula for building a car that fast.

Myster92 - Im looking forward to this one... Maybe a Walton replacement? sly.gif

Ouch, pretty messy from what I can tell. It's hard to see, too much overlapping lines. Is there a way to take a wireframe shot with shading still enabled? Like in Burners. It's easier to see everything.

One tip off the bat is to avoid the "spider web" lay out (like on your windows and on the hood area) as much as possible. It's necessary in some spots, such as closing up sphere's and rounded areas, and here and there it's ok, but it usually results in odd surface shape and bad normals (shading). It's ok in situations like windows because they're generally flat so you don't get odd curves and bumpy surfaces but if you look at Burners latest post, click the second to last thumbnail. See how he starts the spider web in the corner and fills in most of the window from that single point? That's probably the best way to go. wink.gif

Also, I'm guessing since you suggested Sketchup, that's what you're using. I'd say try and jump to Zmod2 asap. Sketchup is very hard to get good looking vehicles in. Not to say it's impossible, but I'd say it's harder. Sketchup may be easier to get the hang of at first, but getting complex curves and shapes can be tricky from what I've seen come out of that program.

As Picolini said they are videogame quality, if not better wink.gif

Great work this one too, I don't know if you ever visited smcars.net but would be great to see your work there too smile.gif

Nice work Hosukai. Any plans for a LHD version ? I'd like to see a good LHD hachi-roku for San Andreas someday.

i use zmod for the sides then i use sketchup for the top&bottom

I'm not making any LHD cars. Considering what I have out now, it would be sac religious. But on a brighter note.

Proper RS8's, just need to re texture the tires, and add an interior.

Finally a good Toyota, and you know what would be nice to see? One of these, notice that the rear end has the trunk a bit bigger.

Too bad. It's not that I have anything against RHD cars, but I feel they don't work out in GTA SA. CJ tends to exit them on the passenger side, al the moving around before he gets in the drivers seat, etc. And since both the Trueno and the Levin were released outside Japan, a LHD version is realistic. Hence my question.

Well, I could always flip the interior, move the steering wheel and pedals to the left and edit textures and handling lines. That should solve it.

I plan on making a coup version of the hachiroku as well. Probably a N2 version as a replacement for one of the hotring racers as this one is going to be.

@Charis, those are pretty good, albeit quite low poly. Very good for first models...

Are the windows and stuff alpha textures? They kind of look like it.

I would suggest extruding the window frames inwards a little and moving the windows back in if you can, to add depth to them, it'll help alot.

A tip, if you didn;t know you can select the vertices of the inside of the frame, turn on selected mode (button at the bottom, or press space bar) then go to "Modify>Submesh> Extrude (i'd leave it set to quads, easier to work with, imo). Then just drag the polies out. wink.gif

@Hoku, damn nice!

The problem with doing that to the windows is that on the real thing is that its very flat all the way up.
