Not bad for a model that's in game for under 3000 polys. Messing with some new .hdrs....I really should learn max someday.

It's soooo easy to transfer ya skillz Auron, with your abilities, I'd suggest you'll take to it like a duck to water - try just setting up max and Kam's plugin, I predict you wont even need a manual to be using it with more power than z3d within 30 mins.

I've found 3dsmax to be pretty easy, it's just got so many features that you can get lost it feels like. I think of it as Zmod2 was a training program to get you used to the basics of 3d modeling, and 3ds Max is the granddaddy program ready to get you on to much better stuff. Not that Zmod2 isn't capable of the same things (modeling wise), it's just that Max has much more options that can cut down modeling time and in some case do things that would be next to impossible in Zmod2. Not to mention the fancy pants renderings you can do tounge.gif

 

Speaking of Zmod2 though, here's a quick wheel I made today at school after I took a mid term and had time before my next class... bit more style than my previous ones I'd say. Bigger (wider) spokes maybe?

Aye, beefier spokes would be in it's favour, but I like!

 

Hows about one in black with a silver ring on the outside of it?

Didn't get time to widen the spokes, I'd pretty much have to redo the center area if/when I do...

but something like this is the black ring? Might be kinda thick imo. And if I do they very outermost ring it probably won't be noticeable since it's so close to the tire.

I am starting to learn teh max myself, a lot of stuff is so much easier to do than with Zmod. But then again, a lot of things aren't.

 

@SeaNorris: Nice.

 

@Pico: You would get away with widening those spokes no problem, looks nice enough as is though.

Rox, I like it, the chunky look is great, I'd love that as the new Bobcat or something for Myriad. But the wheels suck, gotta do something about them.

Mmmh, it was going to be the '06 Yosemite, but I could easily name it as the new bobcat to see it in Myriad.

 

Also, I'm fixing the wheels right now, hence why I haven't released it yet.

Polycount for model is 15386, wheels are 1368 each. Total is 20866. Only 866 over my estimated polycount. Well, 4 polys is for the shadow and 12 is for the plates which wont make it ingame.

 

Anyone who wants to put it in the game, PM me. I'd prefer someone who uses Zmod or Zmod2, so that none of the normals work will have to be redone.

 

 

Another car I just started, a 66 Impala. Not much yet. Will have interior, not sure about an engine though.

@jp, probably because you're asking in the wrong section to start. And I would just recommend you save your time in posting in the right place, and just read tutorials and the SA vehicle documentation topic (think its in the tutorials section). To convert a car you need to know how it's set up in SA and what parts do what. You also need to understand what dummies are, axis's, damage parts, hierarchy, collisions, and many many other things. I would suggest messing around with some original SA cars in Zmod2 and looking around at their parts before you go all out and try to convert a whole car from VC.

And sorry, but that's all the info I can give you.

 

@Burner, holy crap that Volvo looks damn nice, and I'm not a volvo fan tounge2.gif

The model and textures are perfect, it looks amazingly realistic. Awesome details, I really love the engine!
