haha i still can't get my head round sketchup.. it just makes things at stupid angles and then i can never find the tool i just used..

to be honest, i hated it, and went back to zmodeler2.

what do you mean "never managed to learn"?

i did learn sketchup, and have made buildings and bridges in it.

sketchup seems to be lacking so many tools, its good for turning models round and looking at them, but thats all i use it for.

 

i have put 6 years into zmodeler, and dont want to learn an inferior bit of software that is all...

And you shouldn't say so if you don't know, because I did and I used it for a pretty while but then I learned zmod and I found it way easier than sketchup. (In vehicles talk)

i could help a bit, but you will need to read the zmod2 tutorials first, as explaining it all would take months

the bits you will need are the Basic & Advanced lessons right at the top of the page.

they are pretty well written and include most zmod functions.

i know its been done before, but i am building a Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth

 

here are a couple of pics:

 

still loads to do.. will be a while till its finished as i have a lot of stuff happening this month...

i know its got sapphire wheels on and they aren't right, but they are the only sierra wheels i have made so far.

i will be making the proper RS500 wheels for this...

i think its my best work yet, maybe my zakspeed capri is better, i'm undecided at the moment..

 

i will try to fix the odd triangles, i have a few tweaks to do to the front bumper, so i should be able to tidy it up a bit.

 

im not setting a deadline for release as i have ridiculous amounts of work this month.

however, i will be putting in the late nights and trying to get this finished before the end of april...

 

also i have to finish the capri, volvo, monster volvo, beer barrel truck, and probably about another 10 projects that have been put on pause due to newer, more shiny things (lol my attention span is not the best, i always seem to get sidetracked onto another model as soon as i hit about 80% completion...)

 

once i am finished this batch of cars, i think i will begin making aircraft again.. feel free to post suggestions on My Webpage.

you don't need to follow some loops to the end, for example, the front lights, you could detach those and have them as a poly, don't need everything to be connected if you're going to use different smoothing groups. you're using too much chamfers at some place, and they wouldn't look very different with 2 or 3 loops less...

 

other than that the vehicle looks great, you should look into not wasting polies on those tiny details that won't be seen usually

i had already spotted the extra polys on the headlights.

 

i will just make a rectangular poly to sit behind the hole, as the lights on the real thing are slightly bigger than the hole they shine through.

the lights will, of course, have reflectors and bulbs etc behind the glass as on my last few mods...

 

i have to admit, i have never managed to figure out the chamfer tool in zmod, so i just do it by hand

i could probably lose a few polys along the top of the front wing, i might have a look at that tonight...

 

also, the foglights will probably be removed and turned into brake-ducts as on the proper rs500.

still lots to do and a few bits to match up, but i am certainly pleased with the result so far

dont worry, i do plan to make it all 3d, i just haven't got to that bit yet

(i assume you mean the reflector & bulb) i might also curve the glass a little bit, i need to find a sierra and have a look

 

i was going to do a few hours on it tonight, but i am knackered after too much work and zmod yesterday, and a long day at work today.

hopefully i can do a bit more work and finish the boot-lid & picnic table (rear-spoiler) tomorrow...

umm, yes, if you read my first post, i said i knew of 5 or 6 of these that were already built. (not all for gta)

 

the one you posted is from colin mcrae rally, converted by Rumba, i have had it installed on my game for years, its not bad, but its full of lumps & bumps so i thought i would build one properly..

 

The colin mcrae sierra is a "3 door cosworth". mine is an "RS500" - a completely different car if you know your fords

(look at the front bumper, RS500 has a large extra cut-out at the top, as well as a large black splitter at the bottom.....)

 

 

 

i might do some work on this tonight, but its been another long day, so i might just sit in front of the TV & drink whisky

(there are 5 versions of my mini available if you want a different one (although the one you are using does look pretty good ))

Btw the mini's wheel is correct, for some reason the wheel arch can not be seen on the picture.

I edited the mini from GTA-Worldmods, (Added different British plates as extras, and a UK flag on another one)

I haven't changed the chrome since im normally using ENB Series

I'm modeling the new 2010 VW Polo, because I think it kicks ass, design wise.

 

It's been a long f*cking time since I did a vehicle, and the ones I did sucked balls quite frankly, I'm more into characters, but I thought I'd give it a try.

 

Here's where I'm at right now. (BTW, not using blueprints, only photos, so I hope the proportions are correct)

 

I know the materials I'm using kinda suck...

This is my Work in progress for GTA4.

 

It will be my first vehicle for this version of GTA so it may take some time to complete. Im still getting my head around Zmodeler, its been a while since I used that last.

 

I managed to get the wheel for this vehicle ingame without too much trouble

 

I plan to use as many GTA4 textures as possible to keep it looking consistant with the other vehicles.

How is the project, DOHC_VTEC?

It is a pretty nice car, and i am drool with it!!

A work in progress BF 109 E. (Replaces the Rustler)

 

The canopy dosnt have a texture yet. And I plan on adding reflections and stuff. Maybe even Carcols.

 

I had to swap the Wheels. The Left one is now the Right one and vice versa. Because the 109 wheels fold the oposite way, and i couldnt find a better solution.

 

The machinegun is now in its nose, as the real plane did. Tried adding a second machinegun in the wings, because the 109 E did have 2, but I failed.
