K thanks will use the left one. Your BMW looks great but I thought you said that you wouldn't post pics untill you had some interior tounge.gif? Why do you have other rims on every render, on thisone it looks like the rims are turned 180 degrees, or the 'spokes' are too much inside the rim. I like these rims. Front looks cewl too, could you post a closer shot of it smile.gif?

Yeah... Just couldnt keep myself from posting turn.gif

And the rims are turned indeed.. about the depth of the dish , It's a matter of taste I guess.

Shot from the front might be 2morrows since I'll start on the engine then ^^

edit: Holy crap, that is pretty dark. My monitor is bright, that's why.

Good to see you're alive, hope you're fixed all smile.gif And good to see the Golf back. this is a new scratch model or you fixed the one you made a while ago? Looks pretty nice, looking forward for it

@Miklas lol, Murcchachosa already showed him a pic, thats why I didn't put one! rolleyes.gif

@Murcchachosa You can get the same detail with less polies, its not about how many polies you place but about how you use them correctly, that is one of the challenges of modelling IMO smile.gif

Scratch model, heh. It still sucks, though. ;P Just not as much as my last one.

@Nik: That's a sexy aston, and NIN ftw.

Edit: And that bimmer is awesome. I really need to map my car, but I forget how to do all that.

Lawl. It's simple. Lemme show what you did wrong.

You imported the wheel, moved it to the right place and exported it. The problem is when moving, that the coördinates change. For example, when you import it the coördinates are 0.0, 0.0 and 0.0. When you move it, the coördinates change to 1.3, 2.5 and 3.1 for example. When you export it now the coördinates are changed back to 0.0, 0.0 and 0.0, which moves the object to it's original position.

What you have to do is move the object into it's place, open the Hierarchy-tab (right-top) and click "Affect Pivot Only" so the button turns blue.

user posted image

Now make sure that your object is selected and that you have selected the "Move"-tool. Now type 0.0, 0.0 and 0.0 in the middle-bottom boxes for the coördinates (so X-, Y- and Z-coördinates are all 0.0). Now click the "Affect Pivot Only" button again so it turns grey again. If you check the coördinates now, they should all be 0.0 without the object being moved to it's original position. You can now export the object, and when you import it again to check if it's still in the right place it should be in the right place.

I'm sure this works.

Great thnx! =D

Now for my next question turn.gif The texture , I've made a new .txd file with the tyre and rim texture in it.

Where to place it , and do I need to change some line of code in a file or something ?

Hope I'm not goin against rules with this tounge.gif

Put it in vehicle.txd . Add it, not replace it. Imagine that a car needs textures. First it checks it's own txd for these textures, and when they aren't there he checks vehicle.txd. If they aren't there also, then it doesn't display textures and the model turns out blank. All vehicles have it's own txt, and all the rest of the stuff that isn't a vehicle but has to do something with vehicles (tuningparts like spoilers, wheels etc.) has it's textures in vehicle.txd. You can find vehicle.txd in the models/generic folder.

Damn Nik, your modeling skills have gotten pretty damn good! I remember when you first started tounge.gif Couldn't find your way around Zmod very well, looks like you've got 3ds Max down now! icon14.gificon14.gif

@Chris_lolwut, f*cking nice!

As for the tire texture, in order to do a mod you need to edit the vehicles.txd file. This is where the universal textures for the game are held. If you open it up, just import the textures (make a new texture slot, don't replace an existing image in the vehicles.txd file) for your tire in there, make sure you name them correctly to match the name as when it's applied in the modeling program you exported the .dff from.

It's been a sh*t load of time since I've modded, but I'm almost positive that's how it works.

Didnt I explained that?!

On msn?!

I told you import these damn textures in vehicle.txd.

But seems I talk so dumb you cant understand me confused.gif

Exactley like Puma said, I said "use vehicle.txd"

SA folder/models/generic/vehicle.txd.

And then complaining its crashing...

Update on my rolling-something. I'm just modeling and putting everything that comes into my head on it. I'm struggling with the headlights though. I wanted to put the headlights between the front wheels and the grille and make the frontlights the same shape as the grille and smaller, but that isn't possible because the wheel is in the way.. Anybody got any ideas for the headlights?

[Edit] Lol couldn't resist it:

This is actually the first car that is sort of realistic. I want it to have modeled suspension etc. but not a 3d-engine, because I know crap about engines. Put some textures on it to know how it'd look.

Make the bonnet longer Puma. That way you'll have room for headlights in front of the wheels and a big chrome bumper. tounge2.gif

I havent done much since last time I posted... well... since I found the wheel texture in GTA IV I started modeling again. so far I've made a "ground" for wheels. the wheel itself is modeled kind of how the GTA IV cars are like so if one side of it looks dodgy I did it on purpose, so you know wink.gif

user posted image

tell me what you think of it smile.gif

quick edit: the brakedisc texture, for some reason, have got disorted in the render. I dont know why since the rest of it looks like it should.

note: wewt, first post on page 256 (256x256 is also a texture resoluion lol. coincidence)

I think it looks ok, but the profile-texture is not merging with the side-texture of the wheel, and wth are those pins sticking out of the centre of the wheel?
