Exkabewbikadid
Finally some great news that Sony can be proud of: stats page article As you can see, the number of PS3s folding has nearly tripled since the above article from last Friday. If more and more PS3 owners take part, it will be amazing to see how much this speeds up this long, long project to understand various diseases caused by misfolding proteins. It's a damn shame the 360's Xenon is "worthless" for these kinds of calculations, although it's GPU has great potential that may one day be put to work at folding. sainraja
The guy who said that is European right? You could very well look at that as what Europeans think of Americans? I really don't know why he said that though. But you guys just can't look past the word cheap to consider what he is actually saying. I guess it's not controversial enough for ya eh? Accurate depiction of the PS3? Yes. This form of advertisement could appeal to a parent who is not into games but is into movies. F*ck You Sony, calling me cheap will just anger me more, make me behave "cheap" and spend less money on you guys by buying a 360, adding new parts to my PC or even getting a Wii. We need a middle finger emoticon. icon13.gif I don't think you actually ever had any intention of buying a PS3 so it kind of strikes me as odd that you even pretend like you are somewhat interested. I don't see you owning it anytime soon.....or even when the price drops....specially since you are taking the guys word as something to describe yourself as. His opinion does matter a lot to you doesn't it? even though you are not interested in the product he is in charge of? hmmm... MMFF
I don't mind the whole "Americas are cheap" thing. For the most part, we are. We are so cheap, we make a second rate console, sell it for $200 cheaper than then good consoles to trick people into thinking that it is actually cheaper. Then we make them pay for add-ons just so it can match the good console. We also are so cheap we make them all pay to play online. We also drop our old console when a new one comes out, forcing people to buy the new one if they want to continue getting fresh new games. We also don't give our consoles backwards compatibility just because we love to sh*t on everyone. ^^ Wow, us Americans really are cheap.

What about the PS3 and it's software backwards compatibility (PAL), huh? What about Sony making everyone pay more for a new format that most probably don't want, or can take advantage of? What about charging extra for people just because they live in different countries? The PS3 in Aussieland costs $1,000AUD, which is about $750 USD, and the PS3 in NZ costing $1,200NSD, which is about $850 USD. Gizmodo It sucks that the stanford guys messed up their calculations, it now appears that the number of calculations is half of that in the chart. I think it sucks that they made a mistake, I was quite pleased about this feature, and I still am, its a shame that it isnt as effective as first thought though. I don't think you actually ever had any intention of buying a PS3 so it kind of strikes me as odd that you even pretend like you are somewhat interested. Wrong, I had a big interest until the boat started sinking, the PR kept spinning a negative image and the exclusives left ship, in general crap has been downhill for the PS3 and until some things are fixed, I'm not plopping down any of my cash. I don't see you owning it anytime soon.....or even when the price drops You are right, I will not own a PS3 anytime soon because of the train wreck that the PS3 has been as of yet. Price drops are just an added incentive. ....specially since you are taking the guys word as something to describe yourself as. His opinion does matter a lot to you doesn't it? even though you are not interested in the product he is in charge of? So calling America, the land of Hollywood, starbucks, hybrid suvs and expensive real estate and higher minimum wages , cheap, is an insult. We just seem to know where to invest our money. After all, you are an American as well. The rest, I don't quite understand, your argument is alittle strange at the end. But you are right, I should stop pretending to care and give false hope that things will change, if crap goes wrong I will post about it. I am a consumer, not in any shape or form invested in sony's financial future. If they mess up, I am not going to look the other way. Yeah, from what I've read, the PS3's CELL being an in-order RISC processor (the 360's is too actually), it has to do some calculations twice over, making it less efficient. Regardless, the PS3 is bringing amazing progress to [email protected] Like the article says, the petaFLOP mark is still within reach. All this makes me wish the PS3 would have taken off like a rocket and outsold everything else. Maybe it still will in time if Sony can pull their act together. PS3 sound like a company for the people The only problems I have seen so far with PS2 games on the PS3 are minor graphical ones. Which, can be barely noticeable. It may not be the best, but at least you can still play them. At $50 a pop for those games, it would be sad to see them go to waste like on the Xbox. As far as making other countries pay extra, neither you nor I know the reasoning of that. I would doubt it was just to be assholes. And, I don't remember getting a free TV with my PS3 either. I would like to see MS give out free anything.....oh...right, chairs. In the end, I am not saying Sony has never done anything sh*tty to their fans, but they are not the only ones. And I believe MS has been doing a lot more "fan sh*tting" than Sony has.

And I believe MS has been doing a lot more "fan sh*tting" than Sony has. He was meaning that with the PAL PS3 backwards compatibility is just like the 360's which is software based and so games need patches to be supported. Many of the games unsupported are some of the best PS2 games such as Gran Turismo 4! In the end both companies are rather even in their downfalls and slightly annoying features/lack of features. Back to the situation with the Australian launch since its been four days and some figures from Sony have been released regarding how many consoles were sold. Sony Australia has announced that more than 20,000 PlayStation 3 units have been sold in the territory since the console launched there on Friday. According to TheAge.com, Sony also said that combined sales of hardware, software and accessories generated over AUD 25 million (GBP 10.3 million / EUR 15.2 million / USD 20.2 million) in retail spending. The PS3 retails in Australia with an RRP of AUD 999.95. With 20,000 consoles sold, that would mean AUD 5 million has been spent on software and accessories. First-party games are priced at AUD 99.95. Xbox 360 launched in the region exactly one year before PS3, on March 23 2006. According to market analyst GfK, 30,421 units were sold in the first four days following launch - making it the fastest-selling console then released. A further 700,000 Xbox 360 consoles were sold by the end of October. The Nintendo Wii launched in Australia on December 7 last year. It broke the record set by Microsoft's machine, according to GfK, which reported that 32,901 Wii consoles were sold in the first four days. Not bad considering things, the lower consoles sold compared to 360 & Wii are I can guarantee down to the price of the PS3 in this country. I would see it being much closer if the console wasn't priced at the insane $999.95.

The PS3 still has better backwards compatibility compared to the 360. It still plays more games from its back catalog than the 360 does.

Yeah, I was talking about the PAL backwards compatibility, but as I see it, if the US/Jap consoles got hardware backwards compatibility, why don't we get it? About the prices, it just sounds really fishy.. The free TVs sounds more of a publicity stunt to get people back on Sony's side. Let's face it, they haven't been getting the best press lately! @GTA3Freak-2001 that doesn't sound right.. People were claiming only about 1,000 (at the most) were sold on Friday morning, and apparently they brought 20,000 into the country.

Or you can click on the "deoms" link and it should be right on the first page. I downloaded it. It isn't really my style of game, but I thought it was okay. The graphics are nice, and the game play is good, although I thought it was a bit too slow paced. I also don't like the time limit thing, you should go until someone gets knocked out. MMFF
Yup, that is what the problem is. I didn't think we would have different store items. Any which way, if you liked the previous Def Jams, then it would probably be worth at least a rent. Isn't there a way that you can accsess other regions Playstation Stores? I heard people say that they downloaded the Hot Shots Golf 5 demo from the Japan version. All they had to deal with was the language difference, but US to UK shouldn't be a big deal. Here is a list of what is avalible in the UK PS Store. LINK
