GTA3Freak-2001 Posted March 22, 2007 Share Posted March 22, 2007 Well its Launch Night here in Australia and its not looking good, many retailers have plenty of PS3's just hardly any pre-orders and it seems only EB and a select few stores are doing midnight openings because of this. Brutuz Posted March 22, 2007 Share Posted March 22, 2007 Tomorrow is when it launches for us in Ballarat, and the local Myer owner let us use one so that it was like a Ad, except if you were walking past the TV section, you could see some Teens sitting on a Couch watching the Dukes of Hazzard on a PS3, it was really high quality too, on a HD screen. May sound crazy but I don’t have work till Monday so have nothing better to do, plus it will be good to play the console tonight and most of Friday. I'm getting mine delivered to me between 8am and 6pm. It's a lot easier than going to the shops and getting it, I just hope that Argos don't let me down. Most of my mail usually goes to the wrong houses because it's quite a new street and isn't on most maps. I could imagine someone else getting it and not me! I don't totally blame Sony either its our GST(Goods Services Tax) as well as the usual extra cost electronic things get slapped with in this country. This is how silly the price is, when you convert the Japanese price of the PS3 to AU dollars it should cost $630 and $740 when converted from US price. Obviously you expect the conversion to not be that simple but come-on not this much! G MONEY $$$ Posted March 23, 2007 Share Posted March 23, 2007 Well BestBuy is discontinuing their sales of the 20gig PS3. That's gotta be a blow to Sony. The whole thing is basically going to hell. There's no feature that compells me to buy the PS3, especially not at such a high price. I say everyone should just get 360's and be done with it. The PS3 does not seem to be any better graphically and since that's the main thing people are looking at there isn't any real reason to get one. Sony has gone batsh^t indeed. I wouldn't go as far as to say that because the people who were in line didn't know they were getting a HDTV with it. They didn't have flyers up stating so.....so you can hardly call that a desperate move. People in line didn't know. Some of them didn't believe it when it was announced. The launch was successful. It wasn't crazy as it was in the U.S. Nobody got shot, it was successful. North America/Japan's supply was cut in half......Sony didn't have enough units for everyone....so people lined up like crazy. This is not the case for Europe. There also probably wasn't a huge ass line full of ebay scalpers. If it wasnt for these ebay asshats, there would have been more than enough supplies for each PS3 fan. The Europeans have been put off for so long, sony destroyed their favorite importer, and the higher price in general turned people away. Seems there were around 50 or so people there for the bash, but in the midst of a cold, British night, conditions weren't ideal. Luckily, some friendly chaps were on-hand giving out free camping chairs to the tired, would-be customers. How thoughtful. Until you actually visit the URL.
