I don't see how that'd help anything. the hardware errors are caused by parts breaking the solder when the motherboard warps under heat. the towel trick super-heats the 360, re-melting the solder, and in some cases, re-forming the connections. its not a permanent fix, but it does work for some people. XN22
Oh. Who would of thought that a few towels and 10 minutes of running the console would be enough to re-melt solder?
GTA3Freak-2001
Oh. Who would of thought that a few towels and 10 minutes of running the console would be enough to re-melt solder? It would get mighty hot inside the console without any ventilation though and especially when the solder is holding the major heat producing parts to the mainboard or this is how I understand it. Seddo
My mate keeps doing the towel trick but it only last about a week before he does it again, the amount of times he's done the towel trick i'm suprised his console hasn't totally f*cked up. Pat.
I'm starting to get a little concerned. I called Xbox Support about a week ago, told them about the corrupt harddrive, and was told to send it to them and they'd send a new one back, free of charge. The adress was in Texas, so I figured it would only take a few days. Hell, I've bought things from New York and had them arrive in two. Anyway, it's been over a week since I sent the corrupt harddrive, and they still haven't sent the new one.
Seddo
That's Microsoft fot ya, they don't send things back in a hurry, they send it back in their own time when their ready.
RMT
Turn around time is a lottery. I had my 360 back in 4 days. My mate has had his back in 4 weeks. My 2nd broken 360 arrived at Havant earlier. Hope it's a quick turn around again. I want to go to Rapture Pacrel Focre

BCspeed34
I used to do the towel trick, worked for a couple of days tops. The console would get crazy hot. I did this while waiting for my 360 box to show up so I could get it repaired. ________________________________________ 専車SODO-MOTO International Vehicle Importers

Well it's better than having it sitting there, unproductive for several days right? just do what gets the most out of it.
Forty
I had to send my 360 away and got it back in 4 days. Well, not it but a brand new one manufactured two weeks earlier. That's fine by me, because now I'm assuming I have a perfectly functioning major defect free 360.

dfrawley888
Amazingly, my 360 is in perfect condition and hasn't even had 1 ring of death! I've had it for a year.
manofpeace
Since I'm getting an XBox 360 Elite for Christmas, I was wondering if it was better as far as being able to shrug off the ring of death? I don't want it to break for years, since I'm very cheap. Any opinions of Elite? Anyone have one? Better than Premium very much?

SIP YEK NOD
I'm just downloading the TimeShift demo. Has anyone played it yet? How is it? rumor has it: generic shooter #13547 you can timeshift, but can't go back and change the scripted events. you can go back before a guy was shot, kill his shooter, take his gun, or stand in front of his gun, but victim still somehow gets shot. ?
