Triplehead

Recommended Posts

How the smeg d'ya get SA running in triplehead screenmodes? I've tried Kegetys SoftTH, Matrox TH2G, Quadro cards... yet the biggest screenmode it offers is 1280x1024...

i want 3840x1024.

SA rules... i've added me own cars and the Racer_S addons, and it's all good... but i want triplehead! Racing on three screens is just da boom. SA would be jaw dropping...

So anyone got any ideas, peeks or pokes?

hello and welcome to GTAF smile.gif ...have a quick look at the forum rules, and then glance to the left of your screen to find the list of forums available for you to post in...you'll notice that your query is better suited to the SA Troubleshooting or SA General PC Chat forums...

don't worry, though...i've requested a move to the appropriate forum, so you don't have to make a new topic...have a nice stay wink.gif

(that's all the poking from me)

@crazyanurag - thx for that...

ookay, i've added another TH2G, so now i got double triplehead - 3840x2048, 3072x1536, 2400x1200 and 1920x960 sextuple spanned modes available, fully h/w accelerated. Every game i've tried so far works at these resolutions, except SA....

From snippets i've Googled it seems it only allows 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios.... which is a crying shame cos with Dave's (Racer_S) hacks this game would be mental on this rig....

I'm guessing i need to tweak an address or two in a hex ed but need some tips...

I have never even known that there was a thing called triplehead in San Andreas. tounge.gif

that's the problem... SA doesn't let you select whatever screenmodes your monitor supports, but instead forces 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios. I wanna overide that setting and select any screenmode, like 3840x2048, or a 2:1 ratio like 2400x1200. The screenmode aspect ratio shouldn't matter too much cos it can be adjusted in-game with Dave's Camera Hack.

So i'm guessing that somewhere in the .exe is say, a 1024x768 value i can change to 3840x2048 in a hex ed, or maybe a toggle for the aspect ratio lock. Or something....

Double triplehead just means 2 rows of 3 panels, w/ 180deg fov (or slightly less to avoid fish-eye). The in-car graphics like the steering wheel and hood fit in the lower row, and the street around you fills the top 3... so you don't need to use 'glance mode' when looking into corners, plus it makes drive-bys easier etc. With the centre bezels positioned just under the windscreen (using mouselook) it's well suited to driving/flight sims.

It works sweet in VC:LC mod, but SA is so much better... I NEED to play it on triplehead.

Maybe i need triple triplehead...? hhmmm... 3840x3072... i wonder if 5:4 ratios work?

update: partial success. I just played SA on six LCDs... woot! It bluescreened after ~2 mins, and again after ~1 min on the second attempt... i used the custom modes in the Nvidia control panel, 3840x2880=4:3 aspect... some of the screen is lost around the perimeter, but all the menus are still navigable (in a squashed kinda way) and most importantly the game runs. And then it doesn't.

So there's gotta be a better way...?

Edit: 3072x2304. less squashed menus, crash to blue screen after ~5mins... confused.gif
