Converting From A Game.

So, what I want to do is try to take the titan from BF2142, and place it in GTASA, replace the AT-400. DO I have to use 3D Studios Max?

Let me correct you Futu. You can, infact, convert models from other games. It's only illegal if you distribute it though. Keep it for yourself, and it's perfectly legal.

 

@Topic starter: You don't necessarely have to use 3d Max to convert the model. You can also use Zmodeler, or any of the other modeling programs out there. I don't know exactly how to convert the model, but I know you must import it into 3d Max, Zmodeler, ect.

I've seen people convert tons of things. Like NFS cars. I don't see EA killing them with their SS.

RainingAcid: You will need 3ds MAX and KAM's scripts, which can be found on these forums. Zmod can import but you need to register. You ofcourse you could convert it with the widerange of programs, but Zmod and MAX have the best GTA compatiblilty And for somereason people are allowed to convert, I think moderators are being nicer (They were nice before but even nicer now) and allowing us to convert cars from other games. I'm not sure though, just be careful that IF you post it, you might get a Verbal Warning and/or topic locked

No, you do not have to use 3ds MAX

And as a small addition, no converted cars are hosted on GTANet. All of them are on other sites, like gtainside.com . Conversions are only allowed from one GTA to another.
