Hey there are different releases for PS2 too, These versions may be incompatible with old savegames unlike PC versions. I have the first release of PS2 version only, so I don't know about them.

What is the image on the disc face?

The v2, should have  "Second Edition" on the disc face, and the Box.

If the Disc & Box do not Say "Second Edition" it should be the First.

You don't need any particular version to do a Speed Run.

Unless you purchased a special edition, The DVD versions only come with a "Wall Poster" Map .

No manual is needed since the game has tutorials as part of the play.

I have the same version with Tenpenny on the disc. There is no version information on the casing or the disc, but it is version 2.0.

The executables were patched, but the read-me files were not updated.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Second Editon (V2.0) is really boring version, because no hot coffee, no img size check, mods went incompatible: game crashed after you modded something on V2.0. Same thing on Steam too.

Plus : After you rebuilded the img size with mods on it, launch it, and game frozed.

V1.0 is the best!

I also have a ps2 version of san andreas, but on the other hand, in the design of the disc it doesn't say anything if it is v1 or v2, and apart from the copyright it says © 2004 Rockstar Games And the design of the album is that of the girl with glasses that appears on the cover of the album

It's the V1.0 then.

You're going to need either a Gameshark, Xploder, cheat disc or Codebreaker V7 (These are sometimes pretty expensive and hard to find nowadays) and a Playstation 2 console that's even capable of reading//utilizing these kinds of discs. I don't have a list of which consoles do or don't work, one made around the year 2002-2004 should work. Said Playstation needs to be in great condition disc laser wise as cheat discs are even then tough to read at first boot up. Easiest way around this head ache is to find the cheat disc you need first and test it at a pawn shop on the consoles they are selling.

Once you have that head ache out of the way then you need to source the cheat codes. You'll need to find the exact codes that match whatever cheat disc you have as the code lines vary by model type and version.

All that said, it's up to you if this is all worth it.

Since the thread has been bumped I'm gonna go ahead and clarify on this one:

Save files are NOT comparable between versions. At least not the original release and the greatest hits release. Tested it myself because I wanted to change to a harder version halfway through.
