thugofliberty
Hi everyone. I have an ISO file here.. I have absolutely no idea what to do with it in order to run a program my friend downloaded. In the instructions it mentioned something about mounting the file or burning it? So I figured that if I burned the file into a cd and run the cd from the drive itself instead of running it from my computer that might work to read it? I really have no idea though, I searched the forums for it and it turned up 3 topics- none of which I could really find anything about burning into a cd for... anything would help, thanks
K^2
ISO is a file that contains all data on a single CD or DVD disk. To burn an ISO doesn't mean to just burn the ISO file onto a CD. It means to use the burning software to recreate the CD from which ISO was made. If you just want to get to the files that are stored on the CD that ISO represents, you can open the ISO file with WinRAR. However, if you need an actual CD, you will need to use a special option for burning CD from CD-image in your CD burning program. In some cases, using WinRAR to extract all files from ISO and then burning them onto a CD will also work. If you want to mount the ISO, without burning it to a disk, you will need a CD/DVD emulator. For example, Alcohol 120% will let you do that. Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns. ManFromMars
Basically all you need to do is mount the image. You do this by downloading Alcohol 120%. Once you have installed that program it will create a virtual drive for you, that is where all your images(ISO's) will be mounted.
