omega_c
Ok, I have a couple problems, so let me seperate them into groups: Here are my laptop problems: I can't play any of the GTAs on it. I'll have some links to my other posts below this list. For some reason, my bluetooth doesn't work. I downloaded a driver for it a while ago, and ever since then it hasn't worked. I haven't been able to find out where the driver IS, and I haven't been able to find it in the add-remove programs thing, etc. Vice CitySan Andreas Now, on to the desktop troubles: It freezes up if I: ---A) Right click on the desktop ---B) Try to open the control panel ---C) Try to open up "Properties" in the computer, C: drive, etc ---D) If I try to open too many things at once For some reason, it won't connect to the web. I'm using a wireless router/ DSL modem (combined) that Qwest gave me. I have a CAT-5 cable running out of it, which I plugged my comp into, and it doesn't work. (The cable works, I tried it with another computer yesterday). I've tried plugging it into both the motherboard and the network card. I can't install any games: I tried to install VC this morning, but all it did was spin the CD around for about two minutes until I ejected it. (Loudly, I could hear it from a few feet away, not skipping or anything, just going WHIRRR) SPECS: Laptop: I'm using an inspiron e1505 laptop with: Windows XP Pro (version 2002) Service Pack 2 Intel Core 2 CPU T5500 @ 1.66 GHz 1.66GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 Desktop: Unfortunately, I don't know what the specs are for the desktop, and since I can't go anywhere to figure it out... Not good. I would like to be able to get onto windows update, get all that, and look for drivers online, but unfortunately, I can't get on the web. If someone can help me fix that, then I believe I will be able to fix the rest of the stuff for the desktop; I'll run some anti-virus and stuff on there (I have a kit on a flash drive), but I'm worried about that just freezing up. Help? Thanks!
Loman
The desktop problems could be caused by a virus, you should run an anti-virus program while in safemode, also run Spybot Search & Destroy in Safe mode. If that doesn't work, reinstall/update all of your drivers (Graphics card, network card, etc) If all else fails, reinstall windows, you won't lose any data if you choose "Leave filesystem intact" when you're installing, although you will have to reinstall all your drivers/programs/games. Since you can't connect to the internet, you may have to use a friend's computer that has a CD burner to get your drivers and stuff (unless they came with a disk). omega_c
I have another computer thats working great (my laptop), the only problems are w/ bluetooth and GTA. The thing is, I don't know what drivers I need etc. The main problems are getting GTA to play on the laptop, fixing bluetooth on the laptop, and getting the desktop up and running on the web. Loman
Download Tune Up Utilities 2007 and install it on the desktop (if possible), it will tell you what kind of motherboard/graphics card/etc your PC has, then you can tell us and we can find your drivers for you I looked on dell.com and they have some bluetooth drivers for your laptop model here under the "Network" dropdown. They are called "Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal Module" and "Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module (Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR)" you'd probably only need one of those, so be sure to pick the correct one You should probably update your graphics drivers on the laptop, too, if you haven't done that. Click Here for the newest ones. If you still can't play vice city after that, you might need to download a settings file that has your current resolution already set, instead of "800x600x30". (I'd say it's the "30" that's keeping you from playing, your graphics card probably doesn't support that refresh rate.) Have you tried deleting the .set file in your savegame directory? Brutuz
If you can get the Desktop onto the web, You can get software to see what you've got in specs.... Hmmn, I'd say its best to reinstall Windows, it usually has generic Drivers for most things.... And shouldn't the Desktop come with Driver CDs? Unless its really old or something..... OK, thanks, i'm gonna work on that. Brutuz, the thing is i don't have the driver CDs; the desktop is complicated. there were originally about three or four computers, they all got taken apart, and all got messed with/parts got switched around.
