This is a weird crash I cant fix. When I change vehicle about 5 or 6 times (can be first time I get in a car but usually 4/5/6th time) the game freezes up and have to reboot pc. It only ever crashes just as im getting in a car.

Has anyone else reported this crash and is there a way to fix it ?

thanks.

Might be something to do with your radio. It's harder to tell when you don't give us a good run-down of your system, so please read the pinned topic entitled Posting Requirements.

I'd fiddle with some audio options such as hardware acceleration (Start -> Run -> dxdiag, hit the Sound tab, and move the acceleration slider to a new position). Also, update your sound drivers, and if you're using user tracks (custom radio), try disabling that for the time being.

This is my PC:

• San Andreas v 1.0 (I think)

• AMD Athalon XP 2000+ runs about 1.67ghz

• 256mb ram

• ATI chipset card Radeon 9250

• XP Service pack 2

• DirectX 9.0c

• Sound blaster Audigy platinum ex

The radio idea sounds logical, because when it freezes up it sounds like theres a few samples of audio being played in a loop (bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... you know).

I had this problem for months, the only way I could play the game was in MTA map editor as long as I didnt change vehicle, I could get in say a turismo drive it until it was smashed up, then restart - as long as I stayed in the same type of car (with same default radio station playing?) I could play it without crashing, its only when I changed the type of car a few times it crashed/froze.

Then I tried using a no dvd patch and the freezing problem just dissappeared and I could play normally !!

However, a few days ago I defragged my disk and the problem came back exactly the same.

My soundcard is a few years old but Ive got the latest drivers and all inputs/outputs are working fine. Same on gfx card.

Im going to see if turning the radio volume to 0 will help I dont care about the radio at all anyway, music in the 90's was really crap eh? Will post back later.

Ty.

Well that didnt work.

I tried some other stuff too, changing soudn card settings in control panel, and acceleration in dxdiag, but nothing has worked yet.
