Acidify
Hello, I installed San Andreas on my new upgraded vista windows and everytime I launch the game, it crashes to the blue error screen with all codes and just restart my pc. (common in windows xp) Why do I get this problem? When I installed San Andreas on my Windows XP (Same PC) it worked fine but now it wont. Does San Andreas recommend on Vista? Help plz. Justin
It's probably not entirely recommended on Vista since Vista wasn't around when it was developed. Does Vista have Windows XP compatibility mode? Right-click the EXE and set the compatibility mode to XP if it's there, Windows 98 otherwise. 'tis worth a try. Brutuz
Vista does have XP compatibility mode, but I don't think it will work, because Vista gets rid of DIrectsound or something, and thats why it crashes.
glenster
While someone figures that out, I was wondering about the related software--IMG Tool, etc.--too. For things like the Liberty City mod, you'd want the IMG Tool to update the models file. I have Vista Home Premium and was wondering if I should install the 32 or 64 bit version. Would the GTA-related software work for either one? Also, would the 64 bit version of Vista be fussy about licensing to the point of screwing up modding for games? It's boasted about as being good for the future of PC gaming--DirectX 10 and all--but if it screws up modding, they better retract the statement or work something else out. Acidify
okay, fixed my problem. My graphic card update exe didnt install on my new vista cuz it was only for Xp. So i decided to downgrade back to my XP. I had to reformat my dirve back and then install my Xp. I was dissapointed that once you update to Vista, u cant reinstall Windows XP SP1, or SP2 anymore, unless if u do the double drive method or reformat. GTA3Freak-2001
Yeah its most likely a GFX driver issue since video card manufacturers need to kinda re-write their drivers for Vista.
Illp.
making the sa exe compatible with xp has got mine runnin... however, seems vista won't let me save any changes made to the .dat files (using notepad) - also, if you have bought v2 and use the downgrader, it won't work, an error pops up asking you to insert the original disc~
