SeanMcC
Having just got the game this morning, I get a Ialmrnt5 error when the opening cutscene starts. Now I've tried but I can't find an Intel graphics driver update that will work as it says my two year old computer doesn't fulfill the minimum requirements for the update. Please help. Justin
This isn't a VC-specific problem, as far as I can tell. Sounds as if you've got driver problems which aren't related to VC. This being the case, I'll just move this from VC Troubleshooting to The Lounge -> PC Chat. You'll get more replies over that way anyway. If you disagree, report the post and a moderator will move it back.
Brutuz
By the sounds of it you've got the dreaded Intel Extreme Graphics internal Card, I'd buy a new Graphics card. FAST!
SeanMcC
Any ideas on what card I should go for? Any links to particular ones would help too. And how do I install the thing? I haven't needed to do this until now. BTW to add to my original post: Apparently I'm using a Intel( R ) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller and I can't update anything. I've been to the Intel website and downloaded the necessary updates and none of the updates will work, instructing me to contact my laptop's manufacturer. So I went to the Toshiba website and installed something that was supposed to help but it hasn't done anything and the game still crashes when I try to start it. My laptop is (only) just over two years old.
_-playero-_
Oh, a laptop. Only a few laptops are GFX upgradeable. You'll have to get a new PC if you want to play new games. BUT, I had that same graphic chip and I was able to play VC. Hmm, anyone, is there anyway to run VC in a window? Maybe this could work. ^ http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=249766 This link explains how to run the game in windowed mode, perhaps, this could help, as I read that doing so fixes the problem for some people playing The Sims
Brutuz
Thats why I recommend Desktops for Gaming, much better... Anyways, I think it could also be another hardware component, if it is, I know you can upgrade RAM, and I think you can upgrade CPU, but I'm not sure about other things... SeanMcC
Couldn't I get an external graphics card for it?
Fozzy Fozborne
Couldn't I get an external graphics card for it? No, as far as I know, they don't make external graphics cards for anything (laptop or desktop), because no one has made an external connection that is fast enough to run them. Star-Lord
Here's a fix for the sims 2 but it might work also on your game since it the same problem. Good luck! hope it works for you. HERE
SeanMcC
I tried the window mode. It didn't work, or at least I don't think it did. It seemed to stay in fullscreen. Anyway, I downloaded a 100% game save from GameWinners and I was able to play the game. It seems to be only a cutscene issue. Any more feedback or help would be a help as this cutscene problem would seemingly stop me from doing any missions even though I have the freedom of the map. Edit: Well someone on the Geeks To Go forum linked to this and it seemed to help a great deal. It seems to have 'unlocked' the ability to update my graphics drivers - which I could not do before. No trouble with starting the game from scratch now it seems. The opening cutscene plays out fine then I can play the game. Brutuz
Ouch, Pwned That external one looks good, If it doesn't cost too much (As in AU$1000 with the power of a GeForce 2 Series ) I might get one for my mum, She loves the sims, but has a really sh*tty Graphics card. Great news that you got it working!

It comes standard with a 7900GS but I believe you can put in any card you want. ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~
