original gangster
Actually I rather enjoyed that game. Although I think it was the LA one I played. Yeah, I thought True Crime: Streets of LA was pretty good. I hated how there was a massive map but not much to do with it though.

papanesta
I think Crackdown will be the best GTA clone yet. The physics of Saint's Row were a little too ragdoll for me. You've seen the videos where you literally kick motherf*ckers across the map, aye? Unless I'm thinking of another game where you're a super-cop... Actually, I haven't really watched the videos of Crackdown. I just heard you're a supercop and read "GTA-clone" somewhere in the article, and was enthralled. According to everyone everywhere, the demo of Crackdown that came out today is by all accounts, f*ckING AWESOME. I'm downloading it right now. AAAH! I went to download it but it's not available on Silver yet!

edisoncarter
I forgot about Simpson's Hit and Run. It was fun exploring the city and trying to find/reach all the coins. I agree with GTA3Freak, you gotta give the original Driver a little credit for planting the seed of the genre. It was the first driving game with normal cars, not only sports cars, and driving on city streets, not a racetrack. Then they dropped the ball until R* picked it up. After so many GTA clones kept blowing key aspects of the formula (like keeping the city small enough to learn your way around) it was about time one took the Saints Row approach of shamelessly copying every aspect. I wonder if the way Saints Row looks is a preview of how GTA 4 and other GTA style games will look in HD? There's something about how the high res looks so crisp, clean and clear that it lacks a certain grittiness or looks strangely artificial. Has anyone noticed that about Saints Row? Brad
Saints Row all the way. I tried to make a Jay Leno and Chuck Norris character, I made a Jack Bauer character bitch! Yeah, i'd say Saints Row. The fact I can walk down the street with a rocket launcher blowing anything up, it has that GTA sense in it.
SIP YEK NOD
I think the getaway has the potential to be good, as long as they learn from their mistakes. seriously, how hard can it be to know your phyiscs suck and try to copy GTA? thats what i don't get about the clones. they know what makes GTA good, they know what makes their game bad, but they release un-fixed sequels. its just ludacris
TonyZimmzy
I'd probaly say Saint's Row will take the crown as the 'Greatest', even though I personally do not enjoy it.

All-Blacks
I think the Getaway was pretty good despite what most people thought of it, too many people were comparing it to GTA. The missions were great, but free roaming quite frankly sucked (thats probably why most people hated it).
VictorVance2006
Getaway had a good story but the free roaming was boring, dull and frustration. I recently found out that the creater of crackdown was originally a Rockstar North Employee..
