Pat Posted January 23, 2007 Share Posted January 23, 2007 Driver: Parallel Lines. It's not really a GTA clone, but it's definately a good game. Worth a rent, or buy, imo. After that is Mercenaries. Anyhow, just because it's a next gen game doesn't mean it can't be considered as a great GTA clone. There are people who believe the original Pacman is better than the other variants which came out years later, and this is based (I hope) on gameplay, not the graphics. I can see how some of the next gen systems can add some cool new things for developers to work with and implement for gameplay, but gameplay is what makes games. It's similar to GTA in some ways but the gameplay is alot different to GTA's. My favourite GTA Clone? It's hard to say, I loved the story of Mafia but the gameplay wasn't great and I love the gameplay of the Godfather but the story was a crap version of the films. I also liked Driver: Parallel Lines. I'm downloading it right now. it does have GTA-ey aspects, but i feel the whole "super-cop" thing changes it too much for it to be considered a clone. jumping from rooftop to rooftop, up windows, throwing sh*t at people, its just too different to be called a "clone" i would say the best clone is Saints Row. it doesn't hide the fact that its the same style of game. it is every fun and does improve on the classic GTA formula. most people hate it because its not GTA or its not a complete upgrade on every aspect of GTA, but in terms of fun, its up there. ps. crackdown kicks total ass. If you mean you are able to freely roam in a place that resembles somewhere on planet Earth well i'd have to say..I hate the use of the word clone. How long was it before someone with such great, fantastic imagination would ever come up with the idea of a free roam game? I praise game developers who try and 'clone' GTA because there can never be enough f*cking GTA's in my opinion. I love the Free Roam Genre. Out of this genre I have to Choose Parelell Lines.
