csnilist Posted January 23, 2007 Share Posted January 23, 2007 (edited) Ok, here's the problem.... and its happened 4-5 times now, maybe once every two days. I'm playing... i pause game or leave myself in car from anywhere from a minute to say a half hour. I come back, (unpause, if i paused, SA-MP screen temp flooded with text dialogue i missed while paused) and then my player ingame is stuck either always walking forward (which is playable) or he's stuck always walking north-east (very annoying) or sometimes he's stuck walking backwards (unplayable - ripping hair out). To remedy in past I've done the following.... 1) Uninstall GTA 2) Manually delete the "C:/program files/Rockstar Games" folder 3) Delete the GTA User Profile under "C:/my documents/" 4) Restart Windows 5) Reinstall GTA (and no-cd patch) 6) Install SA-MP Now it works again.... But it takes MANY frigging uninstalls/reinstalls to actually take effect, and its not a predictable # either it could take one, could take seven. Hell, one time just quiting game and restarting worked. Point is i haven't fixed out what actually cause the game to reset whatever became glitched.... Points to note.... In half the cases, when i uninstall/delete EVERYTHING GTA related (cept can't get at reg.edit/afriad) and then reinstall my save game files still there (even when i prior delete it in userfiles?!?! After uninstalling and reinstalling many times it goes away, and then the game doesn't have "stuck" keys anymore.... well sometimes it does like 50/50 its so f*cked up. Theres got to be some file i don't catch i dunno... Interestingly i loaded a savegame 100% of net and ran that and it cured problem without reinstall, but when i went to play newgame or SA-MP it reverted to same issue. Also yes, i have tried farting around with the controler designation, changing key for action commands etc, with absolutely no effect. Somewhere burried deep in my sh*tbox PC is something that causes and in many cased won't let go of a strange key maping glitch.... Its only every effected foward backward side to side controls. My Mouse is fine, my keyboard is fine, other games work fine. Problem only ever occured while playing ONLINE, however I rarely play offline. Where does this glitch lie? does anybody know for sure how to fix it? has anybody had it happen to them? (i believe i know one person that complained of it online). Also its only happened in NOV server.... I dunno what to make of it... I've search the forums and the internet please help. Justin Posted January 23, 2007 Share Posted January 23, 2007 I know it's such an obvious answer and I'd hate to insult your intelligence, but just because it's such a common solution I'm going to proceed anyway... If you've got ANY controller devices aside from the mouse and keyboard, unplug them. More often than not, a rogue controller has fallen behind your desk and has a stick pressed in or whatnot. I got one of them gyro controlers from microsh*t (bundle with org. Motocross Madness) it was lying under the table... like on its side, gyro activated ty i may never have figured it out, i was contimplating reformating well off to kill some grovers Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
