Timjones
I'm stuck on these missions, I'm on level 5 but they always shoot out my tires so it's really hard to control! Please tell me how you do them and give good tips. Also, how many levels do you have to complete to get the reward and what is the reward? Thanks, Timjones
Rashon.
The best vehicles for Vigilante at the later levels are the Hunter and Rhino. The VCPD Wintergreen, IMO, is only good for the first 5 levels. The reward for Vigilante is Extra Armor.

Rashon.
Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that. You need to pass Level 15 to pass Vigilante.
Timjones
thanks rashon, but I want to get the reward for the missions now because I'm really stuck on Un-friendly competition. Any more advice apart from using the hunter nd rhino?
GtAfAn93
Timjones, if you want to pass the mission, here's a qoute from the topic I posted about the Unfriendly Competition mission. If I remember correctly, you must kill 2 groups of rival dealers. Anyway, the first group is fairly easy, you can mow them down with any fast weapon you have in your posession. The second group is tougher. Once the cutscene is over, immediatley take cover somewhere, and pull out your AK-47 (or any other fast/heavy weapon). Start cappin' the threats. They pack AK's as well, so be cautious. Mind your surroundings, and if you run low on health, there should be a Health icon somewhere in the bushes. Once you get rid of all the targets, a cutscene will follow, with the main dealer escaping on an ATV. Follow him on the other ATV, and kill him with your SMG. Be cautious here as well, for the dealer has someone on the back throwing grenades at you. If you remain cool, calm, and collected through the mission, you should be fine. I used these tips, and it helped me pass the mission. Hope I helped. Here's another one. Do what Gman said, and also, don't try to stand out in the open shooting them all down at once. Pop out from cover, Kill one, then hide again. Switch to another weapon and back to reload, to make sure you aren't reloading whilst being filled with lead, and repeat Eventually you will laugh at how easy it is to kill them I'm going to try this strategy soon. GTA_Loco
Any more advice apart from using the hunter nd rhino? If you're having difficulty using any other vigilante vehicles, I think you might find it easier also if you do the mission on a partial basis given that there are checkpoints already for this mission for every 5 levels you complete. Do 5 levels then save, then continue from 6th level to 10 then save again and so on until you reach level 15. Try toggling the mission also until you get the first 5 suspects or so who are on the motorbikes. They're easier to kill than the ones in the car. bigdani
All these were good tips but there are more The difficult thing is to make it straight like other gta's, the checkpoints every 5 levels make it feasible without special vehicles. I think it is easier on first island as you have 2 safe houses and all the roads are like a North south corridor with no great opportunities of escaping from you. Before beginning, park police bikes on all of your safehouses, plus another one to begin the mission with. In that way when you get shot on the tires you can replace your bike there or at police stations (little havanna and downtown). If you pass level 10 then level 11, level 11 will be one to kill 11 enemies but if you get to checkpoint 10 then you begin directly level 11 then it will be just 1 car, it's like they make you the gift of the first mission to play. Another good thing compared to other gta's is that criminals are not always in cars but also in bikes and by foot. At the beginnig of the level you know the type in the message "criminals saw last time around viceport in motorbikes..." so you don't have to see them in order to know it, good thing to prepare strategy. Bikes: These are easy, when you get to them just shoot them out, better from behind but also possible facing them. you can also dismount and then you can make auto-aim on them killing them fast Pedestrians: These are the easiest, they don't move so you don't lose time on the chase, don't get your bike f* off or even incidental stars. Besides killing huge amount of people by foot is easy (remember San Andreas Gang Wars?) just get the ak 47 (long range) and stay far enough to kill them all. care with the reloadings, eventually take cover if needed. Cars: These are the hard ones, because cars take long to get damage (bikers dismount inmediatelly) and they have 1 to 3 shooters. You can either approach them from behind and better from left side (guy next to the pilot uses to have the strongest rifle and from the left he cannot shoot you) and shoot till the car stops. Here you have to dismount and kill them easily with auto aim. There uses to be one running away to get in another car, kill this one fast or you'll end up making an extra time consuming chase There is another approach to cars (especially for levels 11-15). First collect all 99 ballons (time consuming but easy, you'll need access to helis and sniper rifles to finish them all) Then take lots of ammunition on M249 (i think that's the name of the gun you get) by making other missions and saving. each save provides you two reloads, one before and one after the save. I did it with the races, and when i finished them all i had a lot of M249 ammo. Then begin vigilante. When criminals are on cars approach them not behind but in their face, and dismount when you are 100 meters or so from them. Then Push R+Down to get precision aim and just aim and shoot as they approach. This gun explodes cars in no time, you can even destroy 3 consecutive cars without believing how easy it was. Much better than rocket launcher because its aiming is more accurate and the rocket take ages to reload and re aim. Besides that, you have to know the town, bribes and armors locations and take any of them needed when you are close to them, even making a deviation of a couple blocks will cost you no time compared to your new status Eventually when you are strongly chased by police (3 stars or more) you can go to spray but you have to dismount the police bike, get another vehicle near the Pn'Spray and then get on your bike again. It is normal to get accidents that keep you from success, but go on. Load the game when failed (to maintain your ammo and bikes at safehouses) Sometimes it's harder, sometimes easier. If you get 2-3 levels of bikers or pedestrians between levels 11 and 15 it's a good opportunity. I failed a lot prior to succeed even with that strategy, but it's feasible, first time i got it without rhino(thanks to police bike and checkpoints!), and by the way i ask anyone who made it by police car in this or other gta's how the hell is it possible as you can only shoot through the side windows? Please answer, i am very curious about it (I reached level12 in san andreas by bike and missed with just one car to destroy, but never passed level 3 by police cars) I hope this helps Edited February 22, 2007 by bigdani
