silvermanblue
Yeah I have been getting alot of 404 errors and I was wondering if it has anything to do with the upgrades or the forum relaunch? Svip
404 errors? I've never seen those. Which would be odd since the entire site is done from a single file, namely index.php. Should it disappear... well... bad luck! You're thinking of the 500 errors, right? Which means that (according to Wikipedia) "The server failed to fulfil an apparently valid request." Source But I'd suggest waiting for the relaunch.

Greene
500 errors are pretty common place on GTAForums. It's nothing unusual. But I was wondering will the Forum Relaunch get rid of this infamous problem or just lessen it?

Freakingfreak
500 errors are pretty common place on GTAForums. It's nothing unusual. actually the last week was very unusual,i got lots more 500 errors then i normally do,and in the last weekend it became even worse,i can barely surf the forums ,i hope the relaunch will come sooner then later,to tell you the truth this is the most buggy forum i've encountered in the last ten years

Has the forum actually been relaunched? No. And refreshing upon a 500 ISE isn't always a good idea, in my experience you'll end up with duplicate posts. Hit back, and then hit 'preview post' to see if your past submissions went through or not (they will be listed in the ten most recent replies under the post box). Hit back, and then hit 'preview post' to see if your past submissions went through or not (they will be listed in the ten most recent replies under the post box). That's what I do, it avoids double posting. I've been getting LOADS of errors over the past few days, it's been crazy, nowadays I'm more likely to get an error than the page to load successfully. When is that new forum software coming in?
epoxi
These Error 500s are killing me, especially when I write a lot. For my complex posts I draft it in Notepad, then copy and paste into GTAF when I know the forums are ready. If you get an Error 500, best way to deal with it is to close Internet Explorer completely, and reload the forums: try accessing the site via your history so that your computer doesn't waste time checking if the server exists

When you click to add what you've written and you get a 500 error. Just press back up and copy you're post. Then when the forum is working again just paste it and post it. Works for me

I'm sure an announcement will be made when the relaunch is close. For now, we just need more server to cope with the number of hits GTAF is receiving at certain peak times during the day. If at first you don't succeed, you fail, and the test will be terminated.

Chalk
What I don't get is why there would be more frequent if it was do to with the number of hits the site receives. The number of daily visitors has been decreasing over the past year, down from about an average of 225 to about 150. I could understand if the strain on the server has greatly impacted its ability to load each page though. I wonder if theres any way to check the difference in the number of topics and posts etc. Wouldn't most of the posts (topics with no new replies) over 14 months be archived now? silvermanblue
Well it's nice to see I am not the only one. But I think chalk has a point we should start archiving stuff alot sooner. Also this would prevent noobs from bumping old topics. Leone Family Mafia ПРОПАГАНДА.ИНЦ, СИЛВЕРМАНБЛУЕ

Svip
Yeh GTAGARAGE/GTAFORUMS need to get a new server i keep gettin' 505 errors every time i click. You obviously know nothing about technical stuff, given you call it a 505 error (when it is an 500 error). And your use of the Courier typeface doesn't make you appear knowledgeable. It is a common suggestion for the average Joe to simply suggest new hardware. Think of how many money you could save by locating the problem and fixing it. I personally think its with the ancient board software, which wasn't quite written for boards this big. Edited February 9, 2007 by Svip

AZSupraT
Today has probably one of the worst so far for 500 errors. I may sound like I am complaining, but I can't get seemingly anywhere without getting one. GTAF has also been as slow as Paris Hilton in a third grade math class. I seriously can't wait for the new forum software. Although, that may not solve our problem.
