Pat
I'm bringing this story back. Be amazed. And to the people who haven't read this before, I realize it's in script format. I could take the time to change the whole thing to narrative format, but why bother? It's not the format of the story that matters; it's the story that matters. Chapter Six A brown Perennial can be seen parking at the docks near the stadium. Jamal gets out, and shuts the door behind him. He walks around to the back, and pulls open the hatch. He grabs the burlap sack, and shuts the hatch, then walks around the car and sits on the hood. He opens the bag, and looks inside. A 9MM and ski-mask, just as McAffrey asked. He sighs, and puts the bag beside him on the hood. He looks at his watch. 6:38PM. McAffrey told Jamal to be there at 6:30PM; where was he? Jamal sits on the hood for two minutes, before deciding the plan must be off. He grabs the sack, and gets back into his car. He throws the sack onto the passenger seat, and grabs the pack of cigarettes on the dashboard. He looks around for his lighter, but can't seem to find it. All of a sudden, he sees headlights out of the corner of his eye, and looks up. A brown Premier slowly pulls up infront of him, and parks. McAffrey quickly gets out, and jogs to Jamal's door. He taps on the window. Jamal rolls it down. McAffrey: We're late, sorry, but we had to pick some guys up. Jamal looks at the Premier, and notices three people get out; two dress in all black, getting out of the back, and Ray, getting out of the front. McAffrey: We're taking your car. Ray's agreed to drive mine back to the HQ. We'll be pulling off a heist over in Redfern, at the Liberty City National Bank. You sure you're ready for this, kid? Jamal: Not really, but I can't let my family down. Jamal reaches over, and pulls the ski mask out of the burlap sack. He puts it on. Jamal: Who's driving? McAffrey smiles. He motions for the two men dressed in black to come over. Ray gets into the passenger seat; the two men get into the back. Man #1: Hey there. I'm Ted, that's Joe. This your first time pulling off a heist? Jamal: Well, I've pulled off a few small-time robberies at the local 24/7, but-- McAffrey: No time for chit-chat, ladies. The bank closes in twenty minutes, so get your ass in gear Jamal. Jamal nods, and puts the Perennial into drive. He pulls past the Premier, and back onto the road. McAffrey: We're going through the tunnels, if you haven't already guessed. Hold on.. McAffrey motions for Ted to hand him the burlap sack. He does so, and McAffrey rummages around in it until he finds a blue siren. He puts it on the dash, and turns it on. McAffrey: This should help you get through the traffic in the tunnel. You know where the Upstate tunnels are? Jamal: Yeah, man. I thought Redfern was just a quiet mountain town though? McAffrey: It is, but it's got the only ferry port left in Liberty City. Only way to and from the mainland. Still a nice city though, with the only bank on all of Liberty. Take this left. Jamal swerves left, nearly hitting an Admiral. He speeds up, and takes another left, in the direction of the airport. McAffrey: Fifteen minutes left, we're making good time. As long as we get in before they close their doors, we're good. Be prepared, though. They've got some pretty good security. Ted, you bring the sawn-off? Ted: Yeah boss. McAffrey: Good, you'll go in first, and take out the two security guards. Jamal, you follow and help him. Joe, you head for the safe. I'll wait in the car. And remember, when you leave, use the fire escape around back. LCPD'll be covering the front doors. I've got an apartment nearby, with an underground garage. We'll keep your car there until the heat dies down. Oh, we're here. Jamal pulls up to the curb, and gets out. Joe and Ted follow. McAffrey shifts over to the driver's seat. McAffrey: Alright, you ready? Jamal: Ready as I'll ever be. Ted: Yep. Let's do this! Ted pulls the sawn-off shotgun out of his sack, and Jamal pulls the 9MM out of his sack. He cocks the pistol, and Ted kicks open the door. The security guards both reach for their guns, but are too slow. Ted blows a foot long hole in the chest of the security guard on the left; Jamal puts three bullets into the head of the one on the right. They fall, and the other security guards start openning fire. Jamal and Ted take cover behind a wall, and Joe catches up. Ted: Sh*t, Boss said there'd only be two! Jamal: Looks like he was wrong. Joe, you got anything? Joe reaches into his sack, and pulls out an AK-47, which is missing it's stock. Jamal grabs it, and hands Joe the 9MM. Jamal: Now this is what I'm talkin' about. Jamal looks at Ted. Jamal: You take the two on the left; I'll take the two on the right. And try not to kill anyone but the security guards; the more hostages the better. Ted: Got it. Security guard: PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR! Jamal: You know.. that gives me an idea. Plan B boys, here's how it's going to go... A minute later, they step into the main area of the bank. There are collums lining the walls beside them, and the walls on the left and right of the room. Across from them are the bank tellers, which have hidden under their booths. Jamal raises his right hand, foregrip of the AK-47 in hand, and he raises his left, empty hand. Ted does the same with the sawn-off shotgun, and Joe slips the 9MM into his pocket. Security guard #1: Put your weapons on the ground, and walk back slowly! We will only fire if we have to! We do not want to hurt you! Jamal: Too bad, because we want to hurt you. Jamal throws his right arm down, and catches the AK-47. He takes cover behind one of the collums, and fires at the security guards on the right. He hits on in the knee, who drops to the ground grabbing it. The other hides behind a collum as well. Ted, however, isn't so lucky. He manages to blow the leg off one of the security guards, but the other returns the favor. Ted drops the sawnoff, and runs back to the entrance of the bank. Joe grabs the shotgun, and blows the second guard in half. Blood spurts all over the wall, and a female hostage faints. The others scream, vomit uncontrollably, or both. Jamal runs out into the middle, and fires at the security guard, hitting him in the right arm. He drops the .45, and falls to the ground, screaming in pain. Jamal walks over, and picks up the .45, then slips it into his pocket. He kicks the security guard in the face, knocking out two teeth, and knocking the guard himself unconcious. He looks over at Joe. Jamal: Where's the safe? Joe: Follow me. Joe walks back to the booths of the bank tellers, and heads into the space on the left. Jamal follows. They enter an office room, with a few desks. Jamal sees an elevator on the left, and two, large oak doors in front of him. Jamal: Wait. What if there's someone in there, and he's called the police? Joe: Only one way to find out. Jamal nods, and checks the clip of the AK-47. Nine bullets left, should be enough to keep whoever's in there quiet. He kicks open the doors, and looks around. A large desk is across the room. Two bookcases are on either side of him. A leather chair is behind the desk, and two normal desk chairs are infront of it. He sees something grey trembling under the desk. He walks over, and kicks it. The man under it jumps, and hits the bottom of the desk with his head. Man: Sh*t, my head! Jamal: You want to stay under that desk all day? The man slowly stands up, with his hands raised in the air. He has orange hair, and an orange goatee. Jamal: Have you called the police? Man: Yes, unfortunately for you! Joe: That can't be right. The man and Jamal turn to Joe. Joe: McAffrey told me he cut the phonelines earlier today. There's no way you could've called the police. Jamal: So which one was lying? McAffrey's been wrong twice. Joe: Wrong, or he lied twice.. Jamal: You don't think...? Joe: I think we've got about five seconds to get out of here, before we end up like your buddies back at the hotel. Joe and Jamal run out of the office, and head back for the main lobby. They turn left, and go into the space on the right of the booths. Jamal sees the fire escape door. He kicks it open, and Joe follows, making sure to shoot the security camera first. They see Jamal's brown Perennial, but without McAffrey inside. Joe: I f*cking knew it! That peice of sh*t set us up! Jamal: Nevermind that, let's just get the f*ck out of here! They run to the Perennial, and get in. Jamal tries to start it. Jamal: What the.. It won't start! Joe: Figures, he doesn't want us to escape! All of a sudden, they both hear sirens. Jamal: F*ck it, I saw a blue Esperanto parked out front, let's just take it! They get out of the Perennial, and run back through the bank, to the front. Jamal runs around, and breaks the glass on the driver side door. He unlocks it, and gets in, then opens Joe's door. Joe gets in, and Jamal starts to hotwire it. Joe: Hurry up, they're coming! Jamal: Make yourself useful, shoot the bastards! Joe: Oh.. good idea. Hold on, I've got an extra clip for the AK in here.. Joe reaches into his bag, and pulls out a clip for the AK. He pulls out the almost empty clip, and puts the new one in. He rolls down his window, and takes aim. Jamal finishes, and the car jolts forward. Jamal hits the gas as hard as he can, and swerves to avoid the Securicar parked infront of them. Joe: Now what? Jamal: I say we get ourselves the f*ck out of here! Joe: What about the Yardies, and the Nines? Jamal: They'll be fine till I get back, besides, we have no choice! Joe: Good point! Sh*t, they're gaining, and fast! Joe fires the AK-47. Jamal looks in the review mirror. Three LCPD Cruisers, and one Enforcer. The LCPD Cruisers are in a triangle infront of the Enforcer. Joe manages to blow out the tire of the LCPD Cruiser on the left of the Enforcer, which swerves to the right and slams into it. The Enforcer then slams into the LCPD Cruiser on it's right, and the three of them slam into a wall. Jamal turns right sharply, while Joe fires at the remaining LCPD Cruiser. Jamal: Where's the damn ferry port, anyway? Joe: Take a left, a right, then another left! Joe hits one of the tires of the LCPD Cruiser, but the driver avoids spinning out. The passenger leans out of the window, combat shotgun in hand, and fires at the Esperanto. Jamal feels the car jolt forward, and assumes the officer managed to hit their trunk. Joe leans back into the car. Joe: Sh*t, he almost got me. Take this left, we're almost there. Jamal swerves to the left, and sees the ferry port not far ahead. Joe leans back out, and fires at the LCPD Cruiser. He manages to blow out the second front tire, yet the driver somehow keeps from spinning out. Joe: Damn, these guys are stubborn! Hold on, just one more should do it.. Joe fires at the back tire on the right of the LCPD Cruiser, while the passenger returns fire. Joe drops the AK-47, and screams in pain. He leans back into the car, and Jamal sees blood soaking his left arm. He looks forward again, and sees a dirt ramp, infront of a ferry, getting ready to leave port. He closes his eyes, and hits the ramp. He feels all four wheels leave ground, and he opens his eyes. The ferry has already started leaving port. Jamal: Sh*t, we're not gonna' make it! The Esperanto hits the back of the ferry, with the front half on, and the back half hanging in mid-air. Jamal: Bail! Jamal and Joe quickly exit the Esperanto, before it falls into the ocean. They look back, and see the LCPD Cruiser tried to pull the stunt as well, but failed. Jamal: Sh*t, that was too close. Joe: Yeah.. but now what? Where do we go? Jamal: Well, I've got a cousin in Carcer City, who claims to be rich. We could stay with him for a while. Joe: Claims to be rich..? Jamal: You know how these things usually turn out. Look at it this way; if he's lying, we can up our body count. Joe: Haha, very funny. Jamal: Anyway, what now? They're not going to be happy when they find us. Joe: Let's get below deck, and try to blend in with the crowd. A lot of workers from Shorside Vale live in the Mainland, so we'll fit in fine. Jamal: What about your arm? Joe: Sh*t, you're right. Doesn't even hurt when I don't think about it. Thanks for reminding me, jackass. Jamal: Here, just wrap my shirt around it. Jamal takes off the short-sleeve shirt he's wearing over his long-sleeve shirt, and hands it to Joe, who wraps it around his arm. Jamal: If they ask, just tell them you cut it on a peice of metal at the port, and didn't have time to visit the hospital. Joe: Wow, I bet that took you five seconds to think of. Jamal: Just come on. I don't know about you, but I'm hungry. Joe nods, and they walk towards the other end of the ferry. The Nines, the Yardies, all forgotten to Jamal now. All he cared about was that prick, McAffrey. But had they forgotten about him? Only time will tell. Edited September 17, 2007 by EmoPat
