PS3 a mistake

I don't knowif anyone heard this but I was watching G4 and Attack of The Show was on. They said the guy who designed the PS3 that it was a failure and he said that Sony should stop production. He also said that they need to start from scratch on another project.

 

I don't own and PS3 and I'm not against them but i was going to get one. After hearing this I'm not sure if I will now. Did anyone else hear about this???

Each console has its merits. It just happens to be that Sony have the most rediculous points and the most rediculous price.

 

For technology, quality and price, Xbox wins hands down so far. It may also be that this summer the XBox price will also drop as sony get their stake in the european market going.

 

At the end of the day however, people will buy a console just for one major game title, but Sony have lost most ties with the big titles apart from Gran Turismo which isn't a bigger deal as it was back on the PS1.

 

I may end up aquiring a PS3 for whatever game takes my fancy, but like the mant PS2 consoles I've had, I probably won't keep it for long. I love my 360, it's just much more user friendly and accessible.

Ouch. But i will say what everyone else is saying: Its only been out a few months give it some time to get some software under its belt and who knows. Im very impressed with the 360 though they seem to have done everything right.

Yeah, but in my opinion, after playing the first phenomenal game in that franchise, it has gone downhill. The second was more of the same, and the third was not intriguing enough for me.

 

It's funny though. Every time I go to Best Buy or Target (and I have been a total of more than 10 times since the PS3 launch), I see people playing that NBA game on the PS3, and there are people standing behind watching stupidly thinking "wow, this is the PlayStation 3."

 

And I am not being racist when I say that every single person that has gone up to the PS3 demos every time I am in those stores...is black.

 

Is the black community less educated on the current homeostasis of the new generation of consoles?

MGS4 May actually be coming to the 360. Sony hold no ties with Konami as far as I know and the creator himself has hinted it may become cross-platform.

the hispanic community has soccer and the black community has basketball (I know one of you is gonna misinterpret that). I'm guessing that those people who're playing with the PS3 aren't concentrating on the price or buying it at all. They just wanna play the game. I would go to it also if I could play for free

 

As for the PS3, it's not gonna die...yet. It is receiving a lot of heavy blows early on in it's lifetime, but who knows, the tide may change. When the price comes down, I'm sure more people will buy it. The 360 wasn't doing too well when it first came out.

I don't think the PS3 will die. It might not win the console war, and it might come in dead last, but it won't die. There are too many PS followers for it to die. People think just because there are a lot of people that don't like it, means that no one does. If that was true, then no one would like any console.

I will be one of the few to give the PS3 a chance instead of sh*tting on it since the release. I should be getting the PS3 in a few weeks for my birthday, and I doubt I will feel let down. And I will say here, that I am not anti Wii or anti Xbox, I am simply just a patient people. It's a shame there isn't many of us left.

If u check out gamespot's reviews- ps3 section, there's not a single game with a game score more than 9.

For all the hype and hooplah surrounding its mighty cell processor, BR's huge storage capacity etc, not a single game on PS3 comes even close to X360's GoW in terms of visuals! Although x360's cpu is weaker compared to ps3's, its the bundle of dev env and h/w that makes x360 more powerful !

 

Maybe the saying - "You cannot fool all the ppl all the time" is true w.r.t Sony !

Well...

It is because they are whoring blu-ray. If they wouldve made it an optional extra it would cost about the same as the 360 (maybe even less).

The fact that the price is a few hundred dollars higher also effects the game developers. Part of the previous PS2 fans decide to choose a Wii or 360 instead of PS3 which makes the market for PS3s games a bit smaller than it should be. So the developers start to think..."Why should we waste time with exclusive games...".

And so they make most of the games multiplatform... which makes even more people choose the 360 over the PS3 because of its price (there is no point in paying more for a console which is basically the same with basically the same games).

Ofcourse some of you might argue over it... And I understand why. PS3s price isnt as mad as some gaming PCs and the free online would make it up for you... I think.

Im quite sure PS3 isnt a mistake... but its marketing is.

As I've said plenty of times in the past, Sony should have just cancelled the ps3, went back to the drawing board and released the ps4... or otherwise they should have just delayed the ps3 and reworked the following:

 

1. A competitive online service.

2. Better dev support.

3. Lower production costs.

4. Ditch BR and use HD DVD instead.

 

Unfortunately, none of those were ever going to happen when a company becomes so blindingly arrogant as Sony has. They spent a great deal of money on R&D and production of BR... and for what? Why take such a gamble on creating your own proprietary format when you would be much better off embracing another format instead of trying to compete against it? It's financial suicide.

 

And again with the cell processor, they should have put a much greater emphasis on developing a sound sdk for this bleeding edge heap of silicon. It's obvious most devs are put off by the current situation.

thats nice, but look at it from the perspective of a prospective buyer; most of us don't want to lay down $600 bucks (+tax - games and accessories are extra..) on a system that is arguably doing poorly at the moment and has very few, if any, good games that justify the cost. yes it can play movies, and install linux and all kinds of other crap, but i already have a pc and other devices for those needs.

 

if someone was giving me one free as a gift, i wouldn't complain. but i'm not laying any cash into that pos until it looks like its worth it. and right now it doesn't. i have enough patience to wait until there are quality games, and the new(er) models that have less hardware defects are out. i got burned by sony on the ps2 DRE with my release-day ps2 system, so thats enough reason not to trust them, but there are plenty more.

I think the main point of the PS3 that everyone needs to think about is the Blu-Ray. You don’t want to spend X amount of cash on a shiny new system, only to find out in 6 months that Blu-Ray is dead and no films are being produced.

 

It’s a 50/50 call for me. I have always enjoyed Playstation, I have had nothing against Xbox, just got used to the Playstation. Me thinks I am going to wait until the HD DVD & Blu-Ray war is over. Then choose a system.

On Topic: I think that the PS3 will be last, but Blu-Ray has a fighting chance in the Format war, sure that HD DVD has Porn, but I use the Internet, its a damn lot faster than going to the video shop and getting a DVD, and I think that the PS4 will fix up the PS3's mistakes, but either way, this is a PC era if you ask me, I mean, three consoles going at it, two of which have to go, wait until ones dead people , The PS2 was good, the PS1 was good, The PS3 is Meh, It could of been good, but it had too many unproven features.
