postalUT
I'm sorry if this has already been posted but I'm new to the GTA modding scene. I'm using GTA Garage Mod Manager to attempt to mod the vehicles (and weapons) For Vehicles: I'm using downloaded packs with dff, txd, and readme files on it. I'm changing the dff and txd files as the instructions say. For the vehicle.ide, carcols.dat, carmods.dat, and handling.dat I enter in the text exactly as written in the readme file and I save. The game starts just fine but when I'm driving and I come across one of the custom models the game crashes (illegal operation error box) For Weapons: I'm replacing the dff and txd files using the IMG tool and rebuilding the archive. I also replace weapons.dat with a modified one (at least I'm assuming it's modified it comes in a pack). The game hangs when I load up a saved game. Now I've read all the articles about v2.0 not being modifiable. I used a program called GTASA Patch to patch my executable to version 1.00. THe program says that it is not necessary because it is v1.00. I also went to the lengths to download a no-CD executable v1.00 (don't worry I bought the game I just don't like hunting for cds when I want to play) So are they any thoughts as to why the game insists on crashing? echo85
it might be the vehicle.idl handling somthings messed up there if u backed up your data file just replace your data file and then see if it crashes on u again when u see that car if it dosent then try to debug ur vehicle.idl with notepad Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/265594-gtasa-crashes-when-new-vehicles-are-loaded/#findComment-4025200 Share on other sites
92F
It sounds like its a corrupt .dff file. Your best bet would be to manually install rather than using GMM. Try installing just the .dff and .txd first then firing up the game. If it crashes then its a corrupt file which cant be fixed(you could try downloading it from another host) If there is no crash, install the handling line, check in-game, then install the default.ide line, check in-game and so on.
