Sly_Madman
So I'm going over to a friend's house for a party, and we (all of us together) have 2 Xbox 360s, 2 copies of Gears of War, and a couple system link cables. So naturally we decided something that we could do with those ingredients. We got it all hooked up, I click "System Link", and both of us tried countless times, taking turns hosting, to join each others games. It kept giving us this error: "No games found" or something. If anyone's done this successfully and can tell me what we're doing wrong, it'd be a huge help (I need to know by tomorrow, because we're going to try again). Please, no "Google is your friend" answers. I've typed everything I could think of that'd bring up anything to do with this and I've come to the conclusion that Google, in fact, is not my friend. The Bone County Butcher
I ahve successfully had system link Gears in my place loads of times. I can't see what your doing anything wrong if anything....never heard of that error before. Heres what we done, just in case i missed anything: 1. Hook up both consoles with a ethernet cable(make sure it works first). 2. Load up the main menu and both players select multiplayer option and system link. 3. Player 1 create a game and when finished player2 should join it. 4. After a few seconds the game should load up with no problems. Sorry Sly, but i really don't know whats wrong....either one copy of game is bugged or cables are not working properly. Sly_Madman
2. Load up the main menu and both players select multiplayer option and system link. Wha? The only thing I've ever system linked is Halo 2 (last weekend when we couldn't system link GOW). Is there some certain thing you have to do on the 360 for system link. Also, off topic, but do you have xbox live? If you do (and you play GOW online), what's your gamertag? EDIT: Oh, you mean choose system link in Gears of War? Okay, that's what I've been doing... The Bone County Butcher
Afraid not Sly, i spend most of my time in my apartment in college and the network there doesn't allow live. I would say one of your games or possibly a 360 is bugged. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/265593-gears-of-war-question/#findComment-4021304 Share on other sites
AlianAnt
Do you have your cables hooked up through a router/hub? I know when I first tryed to system link I didn't know I had to do that. btw: gamertag is AlianAnt. I play with some amazing people, really. Like, top 10 leaderbaord people. I have done this before, one of the 360's has to not be an xbox live account, I don't know why, and make sure that your all signed on to an account on the main screen. Sly_Madman
I figured out the problem and up arose a new problem. The problem is I have Live, and my friend doesn't, and I downloaded the new patch, and the game with the patch can't find the game without the patch. Can I copy over a patch to his 360, or are we just screwed? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/265593-gears-of-war-question/#findComment-4021926 Share on other sites
Iminicus
Have you thought about taken his 360 to your place and hooking it up to Live and using the silver account to download the patch for him? The Bone County Butcher
I already Pm'd Sly yesterday saying that since his friend doesn' have the download on his 360 and that Sly does...well thern all they have to do is put Sly's Hardrive into the friends 360 and the download will automatically transfer to his friends 360. Thats what i did with the download for backwards compatibility with old games, my friend didn't have it so i put my Hardrive into his 360 and hey presto it download to his machine. So in theory it should work here to. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/265593-gears-of-war-question/#findComment-4022708 Share on other sites
