Rurounin
Hey  I decided to give zModeler a go after watching a tutorial yesterday, seemed like a software i didn't have to bang my head into a wall trying to understand the confusing interfaces. That and i realized it was pretty much free... took me long enough.  So yeah, i deceded to have a go at a Subaru Impreza -93, had a qick peek at some tutorial and just started go at it, wich was pretty stupid i realize now as it's a bit messy at places, i fix one thing and it messes up something else making me having to adjust half the car (so some parts are left somewhat broken for now), and some things i have no idea how to fix, but yeah, it's far from finished and i have a few questions before i'll move on with it...  X: Is this possible to fix and what causes it, does it even matter?  (That trunk is a pain in the ass, for me anyway, i spent like 3 times the time i spent on rest of the car on that.) (Also, i know it's not supposed to look like that, all my attempts to fix stuff kinda messed it up )  2: Is there a place i can find engine and interior blueprints or i'll just have to rely on the search engines for reference images?  X: Any neat complete tutorials on how to get the car ingame in san andreas? (Found it)  4: Is it possible to give it an own set of modding models ingame?  5: Calculating normals really screws stuff up, any tutorials on how to do that properly?  6: Any zModeler shortcut commands documentation?  7: Should i just scrap it? i get the feeling that you should do it properly with rotating around the axis and stuff rather than doing it all by hand like i did (making it a bit crude, trying to fix it with a little snapping now though).  And damn this is fun, i always wanted to be able to do 3D  (Yeah, i know some of this can be found with a little searching on the forum but if i'm gonna start a topic anyway )  By the way, feel free to move it if this is the wrong section, i had a hard time trying to figure out where this should go. Gouveia
Hehey! I can onlt answer you two questions. Â How to get car in san andreas? You need to take the dummies from a SA car and make all the parts(bonnet, boot...) Â CAlculating normals really screws up the stuff! Calculating normals only makes like this: Â SIDE 1 > | < SIDE 2 Â Let's suppose Side 1 is invisible. And Side 2 isn't. If you recalculate normals, Side 2 will be invisible and side 1 will be visible. Got it? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/265539-first-attempt-at-3d/#findComment-4020030 Share on other sites
Rurounin
Well, it kinda looks like this when doing it (with some adjustments), some stuff is fixed but other things like the line on the doors looks a bit funky, i guess i could replace that with a black strip. But yeah, the trunk still looks a bit off, like it has a dent or something.   I'm thinking of redoing it and totaly disregard the details and go for low poly only, wich was my intention from the start, but as you see that didn't work out too well  Also, is there a tool to align several verts along a line to get it straight?  Edit: Didn't redo the whole car but redid the tail, reflects much better and at a lower polycount. Gouveia
Nice car... Reminds me of GTA3 police car. Seriously! And I loved that car . And hope you can make it come good! As a tip, use GTASA engine and interior so it can be GTA-Styled. Rurounin
I haven't played GTA3 that much but when i saw it at the top of this page i immediatly thought of my model (that is the car right?), so yeah, i think you're right Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/265539-first-attempt-at-3d/#findComment-4020849 Share on other sites

Rurounin
Well, i just started 4 days ago, shouldn't be too hard  I noticed some flaws at several parts when going thorugh some reference images i've collected so i'm redoing pretty much the whole car, but this time piece by piece so i get it right without getting distracted by other parts.  Another question! (eventhough not many of the old ones was answered)  Is it important to keep the "slashes" going the same direction even if it would go against the "flow" of the car? Rurounin
A bit late but good luck! Had a hard time connecting to this site during the weekend for some reason. Did you have a go at modelling?  I myself have been a bit lazy lately, i have a hard time finding motivation when i realize i missed some detail that would take 5 min to add if i did it before adding a sh*tload of other things, and now it will be hard not connecting to the wrong verts plus it won't be as accurate plus it will take hours to get right  I guess i'll redo it...again...  But it's still pretty fun, each time i redo it i notice all the new stuff i've learned along the way.  I still have a hard time deciding when it's ok to use single triangle and when it's not though Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/265539-first-attempt-at-3d/#findComment-4025070 Share on other sites
