This is a perfect example of NOT ENOUGH INFORMATION.

We're usually glad and peachy-keen to help, but you left out a lot. Such as:

1) Where's the code you're trying to install? (As in post it so we know it's not a problem with the code)

2) You say it's a MB problem. What is the error you're getting? Or is it compiling fine and you're getting a crash? Or are the moon and stars just misaligned?

3) What version of MB are you using?

These are just a few things I can think of that may have helped in finding a solution to your problem. Can you think of some more? Go ahead, give it a try. smile.gif

I'm actually not against democracy though. I'm against things I think are f*cking stupid. I think this is f*cking stupid. - Sweets

If it's something as simple as spawning a weapon pickup, imitate existing code. VC Opcode Database. Run a search for a "pickup". You'll find "create_pickup_with_ammo", which looks exactly what you're after. The associated opcode with this name is 032B. Open up the mission script in Mission Builder and search for this opcode. After a few uses of the 'find' function, you come across a huge lump of weapon pickups. Burried in there is the term "M60".

032B:  8120?? = create_weapon_pickup #M60  15? ammo  100? at -1744.9! -288.9!  29.7!

The rest is quite simple. Copy that line, paste it below the rest of the weapon pickup lines (as we're assuming this is where the every weapon pickup in the game is stored - could be wrong though, mission scripting is all about testing and experimenting). The last three parameters are coordinates, so change them to your desired coords near the Ocean View Hotel. The parameter after "ammo" is, funnily enough, the ammo count. Edit to your liking.

My point is that if you put forth some effort of your own, you'll not only get greater satisfaction than having someone do the whole job for you, but you'll learn. Experimenting is the key to the art of mission scripting. Imitate existing code and test it out and you'll be just fine.

NB: I used MB 0.22. Some format might differ if you're using, say, MB 1.4. The gist remains the same, though.

PS: Post the code here. PMing to ceedj isn't useful to the rest of us. wink.gif

I'm not mad, it just that i knew how to do this until my computer brokedown.

Now i have to start all over, arrrrrrrgh, and this code is not workin(don't ask i will get it to you) but what i do understand is that i had problems with this brfore and i caught on quick though so, now i just have to do it again, i took lessons from the squad leader mod, that gives you like army bodyguards with m4's pythons, and uzi's, but i looked at the codes for the spawned weapon pick ups and i understood, though i forgot which version of mb i used. oh and is there a version1.5 of MB. man i wanna leran so much of this stuff, along side of The Red Alert 2 Stuff I know, now i'm editing C&C Generals.

You don't have to request the model.

You've got the wrong opcode there regardless. Look at my code, I yanked it straight out of the original mission script so it simply has to be correct. You want 032B; and while it's probably not too important for your purpose, ensure the ID you're giving it (the pickup) is unique. I'm not too brushed up on the data types, but you might also need some sort of symbol after each coordinate, depending on your version of Mission Builder. In my case, ! is used. Consult MB's ReadMe.

Read my previous post again, it's quite simple. Basically just a copy and paste job, changing the coords and ID as required.

suicidal.gif i keep getting error code

8-variables

i think it has something to do with the [032B: 8120?? = create_weapon_pickup #M60 15? ammo 100? at -1744.9! -288.9! 29.7!]

okay what is the 8120?? ?

can i edit that 8120 or somethin, and i'm using mission builder 1.3 in which i dont have to use Symbol !. And i did it all, i put symbols after the coord and all still nothin. and it compiled and copied its why through it all, still nothin. And i use to always used the request model code somwhere before mission 0 or before mission 1. i dont know i'll send you everything but i still get nothin. and i'll read up on somwe more, thx though al least you helped me. turn.gif

I highly recommend MB 0.22. If you're relatively new to the coding scene, it'll be easy to jump ship. It's got better functionality and it'll make anything I explain easier (plus you can just steal the code I gave you and paste it in).

Please understand the point I'm making: Imitate existing code. It's that easy. Irrespective of your version of MB, searching the original script for instances of the opcode 032B will show you how it's used. Find one where the weapon is an M60. Copy the entire line. Paste the entire line below this line. All you really have to edit for such a basic modification is the coordinates.

The 8120 is the ID of the pickup. Ideally this should be unique in case you reference it later on (say, for example, you want to make the pickup disappear after you pass a mission). However, for such a basic purpose, leaving it the same as another pickup's ID shouldn't matter.

Part where I give up explaining and give you the code (you'll still need MB 0.22 for this to work):

032B:  $MyM60Pickup = create_weapon_pickup #M60  15? ammo  9999? at 143.821! -825.749!  9.459!

Paste that under the big slab of other 032B's, compile and run and you should be sweet.

I would have to say if you're brand new, go for Sanny Builder instead. The format is very similar to that of all the MBs, there is a load of documentation for it now and it's updated and less buggy than MB.
