KollarGTAMF
I no nothing about computers (especially not at the level most of you do) but I have always wondered if there were any such thing as a user-friendly 3D environment builder program. Sort of like the Sims2 without the sims. A program with no actualy gameplay of any sort, just the building feature. Not building houses but environments (cities, towns, woods, etc.) Anything like that exist? Don't flame me guys... thanks!
CCPD
Not building houses but environments (cities, towns, woods, etc.) How can there be a city without houses? I think you are looking for a 3D program like 3D Max.
K^2
I think he means not just building houses, but being able to build whatever. Map editors for some FPS games are a bit more friendly than professional 3D editing tools, but I haven't seem anything that would be as easy to use as the building tools in Sims while being more general. Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.
Forfit
I'm not sure if such a thing exists, maybe the best thing to do is just get a program that does what you want it to do, and then just read the Help, ask questions, google stuff, read forums, and eventually you will figure everything out, just take your time with it and learn. Oh yea, i didn't think anything would be like the sims.. just something that didn't take knowledge of code and such.
Svip
Something you must remember about user friendliness is that when you use it, you automatically must assume a lot of limitations. Because a lot of features - which makes programs like 3Ds Max powerful - are confusing for new users. But 3Ds Max (and similar 3D programs) don't exactly have new users in mind. Or rather, they require new users to be willing to learn. In fact, if you wish, you may try out Blender 3D, it is similar to 3Ds Max (not as powerful though), but free and open source. So you can just try it to see if it is anything for you. I suggest largely, that you read its tutorial, as they are quite useful to understand the features in the program. I hope that should give you some idea. Alternatively, there do exist programs focused on building houses (for architects you could say).
_-playero-_
SketchUp is pretty good IMO, but not even near as powerful and versatile as 3ds Max.
Fozzy Fozborne
Try Google Sketchup, it's REALLY easy to use, but it also packs some nice features. It comes with a free 8 hour trial, I think there are free versions available, too (that's what I have), but I can't seem to find any right now.
