Picolini
I'm pretty new to 3ds Max, so please bear with me. I really need help here... I'm working on a car using spline modelling, basing it off of this tutorial http://67.15.36.49/team/Tutorials/nissan/nissan_3.asp It seems like you can get some cars done quickly with it. First off, is a spline the same as "Line" under Shapes>Splines? If so, then I'm pretty sure I'm on the right track. Now this guy in the tutorial says to make the splines as different objects, but I figured doing it all as one object should work fine. So that's how I've started so far. But in his tutorial he says to "snap" the verts so they are coincident. I'm kinda having a problem with that part. I can get 2 verts to weld together no problem, but ones it gets past 2 at one point it only welds 2 together and won't do any more, even though they are the same object and cloes to eachother. So anyone help here? I tried weld, connect, fuse... bind... nothing works

REspawn
First off, is a spline the same as "Line" under Shapes>Splines? Yep, all the shapes under the splines section are; line, circle, rectangle... and so on. Now this guy in the tutorial says to make the splines as different objects, but I figured doing it all as one object should work fine. It might be better to keep things seperate until the very end, that way if you have to change something you dont have to worry about changing the whole thing, but only that one section of it. But at the end of the day its more a personal working choice. But in his tutorial he says to "snap" the verts so they are coincident. Im not 100% sure on this one, could be hes talking about the snap to grid options, they look like a magnets in the toolbar across the top. Check out the tutorial section for some tutorials, and right at the top of this forum is a pinned topic by DexX on max plugins and tutorials. That should keep you going. -Dave
Picolini
Ok, well I'll try that out with the snap to grid thing, but I'm not sure if it will work just right. Do you think if I have the spline points just directly on top of eachother they will be "coincident" as he says, so it will fill in the mesh.... I'm hoping so because they won't attach or weld to each other. Thanks for the help so far EDIT: Yep, as long as I just use "fuse" they will lay right on top of eachother and when I apply "Surface" from the modifier list it works Edited January 16, 2007 by Picolini
