Mister Pink
Has anyone heard the AFX stuff by Richard D. James? I love it. some tracks on this are Fenix Funk 5, Pissed Up in SE1, Laricheard etc. I't a pity he doesn't play live much. I would love to see him. Aphex videos are amazing. Especially thanks to Chris Cunningham. Edited January 15, 2007 by ThePinkFloydSound RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)
Haifaiv
I like Aphex Twin but my most vivid memory of James' music will always be quivering in the foetal position in the passenger seat of a VW Golf, running a fever to the point of mild hallucination while my sister oh so considerately blasted some f*cking evil-sounding Aphex Twin music that sounded like it was being ejected from the bowels of hell. Good music to listen to when you're not dying.

Good music to listen to when you're not dying. LOL. That was hilarious! Yeah, I nearly hated him. One time in my old flat we were all taking acid and my mate put on the album Drugks. I the walls were changing color in tandem with the 'music'. It f*cking wrecked my buzz as that's all they would play and it was through a Laptop with no propper speakers. @Paco: just getting that now! Love it, though have to say I prefer psy trance whilst trippin.
Mister Pink
The first time I heard Psy-Trance was a this place for the called the Temple Bar Music Centre. They sold mushies (when they were legal) in a sop about two doors down. They also sold the tickets to the party. So, Friday night we's go in get 15 euros worth of shrooms and just keep dancing and dancing. This is the point in my life were rock just wasn't enough for me. Ever listen to really dark psy? Anyway I just got Polygon Window. I reccomend people get that. It's great! It's not too heavy RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)
a_fool_from_edinburgh
I pretty much love all kinda of electronic music the infinite possiblities it presents are awesome. I love a lot of darker/dirtier stuff but havn't listened to a huge amount of dark psytrance, what I've heard is of course incredible. I find alot of Aphex's stuff to be very dark. Producing sounds with computers rocks! Infact all music rocks!!
San Andreas Nut
Im listening to Aphex Twin - Film right now I have the albums "Selected Ambient Works" & "26 mix's for cash" as well as lots of random tracks. goos stuff.
Wayfarer
I noticed one very interesting fact about Aphex Twin. Unlike many electronic artists, which are rather elite and known by a little group of people, AT seems to be known by lots of people with different music tastes. I know a hip-hop fan who knows and likes Aphex Twin. I know a raggae(sp?) fan, who knows Aphex Twin. I know an indie rock fan, who knows Aphex Twin. I even know an orthodox (meaning he barely listens to anything else) black & death metal fan, who admires Richard's work. How does it happen he is known by such a big group of people regardless of their music taste? Maybe it's because his videos. Maybe it's because his music, which is really original, and good. Plus, he's got some of the best f*cking track names in the history of music. That's the name of one of the tracks on the "Windowlicker" single. Mister Pink
Yeah, that's right wayfarer. I know loads of metal heads who listen to him. It' really funny to check out his interviews and stuff. I'm not a complete Aphex fanatic, I've just been listening to hime more and more lately. He's a tough cookie to crack but when you do... @a_fool_from_edinburgh: I know a guy who set up an 24/7 online web radio of Dark and normal Psy in Dublin. EmSixTeen
Im listening to Aphex Twin - Film right now For God sake, it's called Flim.. Everybody, pay heed. Aphex Twin kicks ass.. I don't know about all of the AFX collection, some is definitely boring, but there's good stuff amongst it. To be honest, I think my favourite Aphex CD is disc 2 off 26 Mixes.. Used to be the most expensive CD I'd bought, too. np: Philip Boa & The Voodoo Club - Deep in Velvet (Aphex Twin Turnips Mix)

Mister Pink
Emsixteen, Is that 26 Mixes For Cash? How much was it? I reccomend you guys get Fenix Funk 5. It was released in 2006 and it's a return to the Acid sound he does best. I've never heard of Flim. I will check it out. Listen to Fenix Funk 5 here RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)
Paco
Flim is one of the most calming songs I've ever heard. That "Fenix Funk" song is odd and upbeat. I might just check out that album.
asimov
i had always thought that the song was called film. i had a quick look at the file on my computer, lo and behold it actually read "flim". i have just always assumed it said film. reminds of that research some americans did about reading words as a whole, with the order of the first and last letters being of importance to understanding the word. AFX rules aswell, girl/boy song is just sonic bliss.

Tryst
The Come to Daddy EP is one of my more favorite albums that I own. I like selected ambient works 85-92 and all, but that doesn't have Bucephalus Bouncing Ball or IZ-US on it. The album cover on Come to Daddy is also pure sex. asimov
i just bought the druqks album, and i can say it was pretty darn good. i have only had a once though listening session so i can't really judge yet, but aside from the random "noise" tracks it is pretty easy on the ears. i am gonna go down and buy the richard D james album in a few weeks once i have had a good listen to drukqs

Saggy
I never really liked Aphex Twin that much. I don't think I had a very good selection of his music, but I wasn't very impressed... Listening to it in the midst of things like Texas fa**ot, Infected Mushroom, and Orbital, Aphex Twin just came off as boring. Anyone seen that picture of some Aphex Twin sheet music that's like, "Does he write his music, or just slap his keyboard around?" at the bottom? I would've posted it but couldn't find my copy. It cracks me up. QUOTE (K^2) ...not only is it legal for you to go around with a concealed penis, it requires absolutely no registration!
AndyinEngland.
I really like Milk Man, Girlboy and also I'm Self Employed. I also really like his ambient works album - the first moreso than the second. And also Digeridoo, the first song I heard of his. And I also love beyond belief Avril 14th, just a shame it's so short I've not come across another of his songs quite like this. Edited February 28, 2007 by AndyinEngland. asimov
Anyone seen that picture of some Aphex Twin sheet music that's like, "Does he write his music, or just slap his keyboard around?" at the bottom? I would've posted it but couldn't find my copy. It cracks me up. I had a looksee around and couldn't find anything either. I would like to see it though. It must take forever for him to get all those seemingly random beats to mesh together so well. @ sag, i used to think that about him aswell, as compared to infected mushroom, orbital, sphongle or whatever it is kinda slower quiter and less absorbing, but i guess that is why it's called ambient. flim makes me feel sleepy
Mister Pink
Yes, I've seen that picture. It's great. To someone who doesn't have any knowledge of music or Electronica, I'd say, thinks it's funnier. Obviously he doesn't just bang the keyboard. O.K. I'm taking it too seriously. Relax Mick. When I first heard Electronica like this I was like WTF? It makes no sense. I feel as you get older and after listening closer to music for so long you crave something that goes out of the boundries of modern music. I say it's po-mo in a a way. He explore sounds we've never heard. Notes that never get heard. I can't listen to him too much though. I'll listen for a fair bit then lay off for a while. Off Topic: I love listening to Infected Mushroom on the way to college to wake me up. Has anyone ever heard of that track Stretched? I love the Arabian/Middle Eastern style notes the girl sings. It's beautiful. Also the kind of classical style guitar in there. I like to call some Psy or I.M. tracks little Electronic Symphonies!
