Crash 2 - 3 mins into a game

i reinstalled the game recently, it loads and plays fine but about 3 minutes into a new/saved game it crashes to the desktop just like that

 

iv tryied setting it to win98, deleted the user.set tryied hardware acceleration reinstalling

 

i have played it before with no problems on this computer, but now it just likes to crash a few mins into a game
