Hayden2
Hey there, I was wondering if someone can give me an educated answer. I'm planning to get the Linux adaption for the PS3 when it comes out in Australia and was wondering if Adobe Photoshop is compatible for use on it. To be more specific I have CS1, and I will be getting CS3. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/264950-compatability/ Share on other sites
jarjar
Well that all depends, can Adobe Photoshop run on Linux to begin with? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/264950-compatability/#findComment-4009277 Share on other sites
Hayden2
I dunno, I thought if anybody knew you guys will. The copy I have came on a blank CD because I got it off a guy who teaches Visual Editing classes at a school (he has a licence to copy Photoshop). So does anybody know or want to answer...? jarjar
Yeah my school has Academic version of Photoshop the students can have a copy of, but they can only be used while you are at that school. So once you finish the year or year 12 you have to remove it. Now, according to Adobe's website, Photoshop can only be downloaded and run on Windows or Mac: So I would think, no, you can't run in on Linux or PS3. Squiddy
You can use wine to emulate it. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/264950-compatability/#findComment-4009412 Share on other sites
Hayden2
Is wine a program, or are you just being a smart ass? Any helpful information would be appreciated. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/264950-compatability/#findComment-4009440 Share on other sites
Ottae
Is wine a program, or are you just being a smart ass? Any helpful information would be appreciated. It's a program, he's not being a smart ass. Simple Google search. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/264950-compatability/#findComment-4009444 Share on other sites

Wait wait, your calling Squiddy a smart ass? Squiddy would never, he is a very smart guy, way above being a smart ass. He is in fact telling the true, it's an emulator, emulates Windows software on Linux. Squiddy
Is wine a program, or are you just being a smart ass? Any helpful information would be appreciated. I see what confused you, I didn't pay attention to ambiguities, english is not my native language. But a quick google search would have given you the answer. As the others said, it's an emulator that can be used to run windows software on a linux installation. Not every software is supported, but you get a list on winehq.org. I tried photoshop (actually version 7), and it worked fine, apart from beeing a bit slower. The other possibility, if you consider running more windows software than just photoshop, is to set up a virtual machine with a windows installation. You can use VMware, but there might be others too. But I don't know if all that really runs on the PlayStation3, there might be some limitations, who knows?
