EVIL DEAD

evil dead was a spectacular series by sam raimi. But after army of darkness, raimi went to start the darkman series. Evil dead still lived on by some games while rami started the spiderman series. For some reason i've had a belief that evil dead may come back to the silver screen. First i have to point out the evil dead game that came out recentley and sort of made a cotinuation of ash and the necronomicon. with hime being arrested and sent to a mental institution. Not that that's a big deal but bruce cambell did the voice for ash. And i heard from my friend that sam raimi was thinking about reviving the series with an alll new story. But then i also heard that they wanted to make a remake of the first evil dead and have sean william scott or ashton kutcher play as a new ash. Now I'm not sure about the remake but if it's true that would ruin the whole series because those guys aren't funny for sh*t. And it wouldn't be evil dead without bruce.

It is? Damn, didn't even know that.

They just need to get a good actor to play Ash, and not CG the hell out of the movie. One of the things I loved about the series was it's effects, and if they copped out with CG, it would just ruin it for me.

Evil Dead was, in my opinion, a great movie. Evil Dead 2 is my prefernce though because, even though they both have the corny humor, part 1 didn't always mean to be corny. Part 2 however gave Bruce a chance to make a parody of the first film and exploit the 'corniness' of it all. I think he did a superb job in recreating the insanity of cheesiness. Don't get me wrong, that's one of the things that made the movie for me. I mean it just don't see Evil Dead succeeding as a straight faced horror movie. Sure there are parts, as corny as they may be, that might make some people hesitate to go down to the 'fruit cellar', but if it weren't for the antics of Ash it just wouldn't be the movie that it is. And personally I can't think of anyone who can pull it off like Bruce did. If there is in fact a remake on the way I just hope that they don't butcher it in an effort to make it something that it's not. DEAD BY DAWN! DEAD BY DAWN! devil.gif

Yeah, I saw Evil Dead when they were running it on Fuse over Halloween.

I thought it was pretty good, although sometimes corny like you mentioned. A moment I particularly remember is when one of the girls is running through the forrest being chased by the unseen "demon", and the trees are falling over and stuff. I giggled.

I still need to see the second one though.

Did Fuse chop the hell out of Evil Dead? I'd assume they did, because that channel sucks completle ass.

There is no such thing as CG with Evil Dead. Cheesy makeup and gallons of blood will suffice.

And I still want Campbell as Ash if this comes to fruition.

I own both, though it's been a while since I've watched either. Both storylines have similar beginnings. I got a little confused when I first saw the 2nd one because of some of the details. I won't ruin the plot for those who haven't seen it yet, but one thing I'll say is that the necklace makes an appearance in both films. I think that's the main detail that threw me off. But if you were amused by part one, you'll definitely enjoy part two. Was it still corny? Yes, but deliberately so, which is why it turned out so good. And I think we can all agree that Bruce Campbell is Ash. After all there's no one else that can pull off so many cheesy one liners and still look cool in the process. Down with the Deadites. die.gif

I don't think so. It was still rated NA/AO so they couldn't have done too much to it I don't think.

Was there the tree rape and di you get to see the ax make contact with the limbs in the dismemberment scene?

Hmm...I don't particularly recall that happening, but it might have I don't really remember.

I do believe the ax made contact though, I remember thinking that it was pretty gruesome for cable television.

Alright after looking here apparently they did cut out the tree rape scene and possibly more.

Yea but still it wouldn't be the same to watch any evil dead cut for public tv viewing. Anyways bruce makes ash seem like he's apart of him. Like in the secod one when he laughs uncontrollably, i mean who else could pull it off like that.

My thoughts exactly. To me there is no seperating Bruce and Ash. Although I have to admit that, even if they do cast someone else to play that role, I'd still have to see it just to see how well it turned out. But I'm afraid that the only people who won't notice a difference are those who've never seen the originals, thus aren't fans in the first place and won't realize what they're missing. After doing Evil Dead 1 and 2, and then Army of Darkness nobody else would be able to fill his saw...err, shoes.

Evil dead oh my god, I cant tell you how confused I was when I saw a old delta 88 surrounded by knights and sh*t. But then I saw some zombies and a guy with a chainsaw for a hand and I was hooked. I never looked back. great corny movie!

That was the ending of Evil Dead II/the beggining of Army of Darkness.

Yeah. Actually I don't really think of Evil Dead 2 as a true sequel though since they just re-did part 1 with some changes in the plot. And speaking of Army of Darkness, while I still enjoyed Ash's corny antics, it was more along the lines of a corny 'dark comedy' instead of a hardcore 'cheesy horror' flick. Still enjoyable but I think I would have enjoyed it more if they hadn't tried to add quite as much comedy.

It is very much a sequel. The first 10 minutes are just a recap of the first movie, simplified for the content of the second. They just had to reshoot it due to legal issues (no complaints here, though. Denise Bixler is foxy.) From the point where the force breaks through the cabin and into Bruce's mouth, the sequel starts.

Anyway, the status of the remake seems unstable, at best. It may be produced at some point, but at this time heart is full of doubtitude. And while it would be nice to see a new part of the franchise, I wouldn't want to see it being tackled by anyone but Raimi.

And in regards to Evil Dead 4.. Ambivalence. As much as I'd like to see it happen, I wouldn't like to see them go down the Pg-13 road that Army of Darkness went down, not to mention cutting some of the coolest parts from the script. Plus, they need Sam to stop being so damn successful and have a year or so to spare on it.

But, until those stars align, at least we'll have My Name is Bruce.

i never knew they ran into legal issues while filming evil dead II. Your ideas of evil dead 4 are really good. I wouldn't want it to be lowered down to accept it to a newer audience. If it would keep to its old roots, that would make it the best of the series. Oh and i'd like to see a lot more craziness and most importantly, BLOOD. But if it's ever to come out, i bet it wont dissapoint. Sam raimi never dissapoints. We all know the remake can never be the original even with better special effects.

This isn't a sequel, but I'm looking foward to it none the less: "My Name Is Bruce"

I believe that's as close to a sequel that we'll ever see now that the damn remake is coming out... I'll still watch it, though suicidal.gif

Most remakes I'm hesitant to blast, because some have a legitimate chance. But a remake of Evil Dead with Ashton Kutcher and CG is going to be the ultimate suck. Bruce and the corny "splatstick" style humor are the only thing that made Evil Dead/Army of Darkness so great. Making a low budget cult classic into a high budget Hollywood blockbuster is just wrong in the first place, and with the two top candidates for the role of Ash being Kelso and Stifler, I can't see any good coming from this.

My Name is Bruce looks like it could be good, though...
