they use it because some people get annoyed when people state they're own opinion as facht. "I think" is okay, and so is "In my opinion".

I agree with this. If someone never says something is their opinion and states everything they believe as proven fact, it can come off as arrogant and narrow minded. It's a courtesy of speech.

Yeah, a few extra words can make a big difference.

In my opinion "That artist is terrible!" sounds quite a bit more rude than "I think that artist is terrible!", and that's just two words.

I need to get this off my chest...

People who use IMO and IMHO should be banned from the English language! I hate it and it really hits a nerve.

Dont mind those so much.

But i cannot stand when people use Smh (shaking my head) I hate it.

I can't stand people who have belief systems and try to force them onto you and tell you that if you don't see it their way then something is wrong with you. Religions, politics, cultures. The groups of people who usually do this are what I call the four P's: Parents, Preachers(Priests), Politicians, and Pundits. The fact that it is 2011 and weed is STILL illegal shows the illogical nature of these people. I think their ultimate goal is to keep this world misserable and always in conflict with itself. They are on power trips and want to get into peoples heads and rework all of the circuits to program each one of us into their image. The thing is their image or personallities are usually fake. They tend to not have an original thought in their heads. They just parrot back and forth with each other the most inane sh*t. The music video "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden sums it up brillianly. Their education system and media are turning our youth into morons who prefer a limited OMG vocabulary and banal sense of artistic standards. They are intentionally dumbing us down into what George Carlin called "Obedient workers". Only smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. That felt good to get that off my chest.

Ok, picking the absolute sh*ttiest android app would be a challenge, but the YouTube player from google would definitely be in my top 3. Why?

  • Let's see, the "replay" feature re-downloads the video again, instead of just playing the cached video from the start. That's a waste of time and bandwith.
  • The video automatically pauses if you try to do something else. Launching the web browser pauses the video, so i can't say, check my email AND listen to the audio. Same thing with locking my phone, once the screen goes black, the video is paused without my consent. Also, pausing the video may or may not screw up the stream; for a 5 minute video, pausing at the 1 minute mark, then unpausing may f*ck up the remaining 4 minutes.
  • There is no "refresh" button, incase there's a network hiccup or for whatever reason, the video does not load fully. This forces the user to go back and re-select the video to (attempt) to watch. See my previous point.
  • "This video is not available for mobile." - Well why the f*ck not? The type of device requesting access to the video should not make one god-damn bit of difference!
It seems google designed the app so that users could watch - not listen to - (select) videos on their phone, once. Unless they like a pain in the ass. Worse yet, is that none of this can be configured. The settings for the app are abysmal, and borderline useless.

The other 2 apps in my top 3 that are probably just as sh*tty are Google Maps and Gmail. "Probably", because maps crashes about 1/4 of the time just after i launch it, so i rarely do more than that. Gmail is just retarded the way it works, and its sloooowwww as f*ck. Loading Gmail in my mobile web browser is somehow faster than the app, thus rendering it almost completely f*cking useless. Of course they can't be uninstalled, and auto-update. Nice touch.

On the plus side, Google has offices in Kirkland, less than 4 miles from my current location. If you hear a report about some guy strangling google employees, its probably me.

Triple Penetration

Yeah, I would like to uninstall almost all default apps for more space, if not less hassle.

The youtube app is crap, but pretty much the only way to watch videos on tube. The not available on mobile subject is showing that the video has ads and therefore can't be displayed on phones, because you can't leave to an ad webpage without interrupting the video. Kind of funny, because it's their fault.

At least it is better than Apple's ridiculoisly overpriced alternatives.

All of this happens to my Nokia 5800, Motorola Backflip, and my current Blackberry Bold 9700. It's not just an Android thing. I got this blackberry expecting it to be business therefore everything working like I want it to, but nope. Same, if not worse, than other phones.

I've probably said this on this forum before, but I was reminded of it this morning

I was on Facebook, and I saw a status update where someone said something about Klingons. A girl replied "What's a klingon?" and the person who posted the status said "it's an alien from Star Trek" and then the girl said "I didn't see that in the movie" (meaning the newest remake). I don't know why, but it made me angry that kids these days are so ignorant of classic films/television.

I agree with you there totally. The YouTube player is crap and a complete waste of time.

One Android app I do hate though is something called "MyYearbook" which is linked in with Facebook. Basically, I clicked on something and subscribed to something by mistake and it constantly sends me emails about pointless sh*t, such as there are people on Facebook that live near me that I haven't got as a friend. Most pointless piece of crap considering the people that I do not have on my friends list that live near me, are all psycho or a paedophile and why the hell would I want to recieve 8 emails a day, asking to add people I do not even know? And the fact that when I tried to uninstall it, it took 2 and a half hours for it to have 4% completion so I gave up.

"kids these days" It says you were born in 1993, you sound like a 50 year old. Also it was probably just a really dumb girl, or a girl who knew it but wanted to act dumb. I don't know why but some girls do actually do this. They act stupid because they think it makes them look funny and cool. They're wrong and it reeeeeaaaaaaally annoys me. My sister even went through this phase for a while, thankgod it was just a phase.

TBH, knowing what a Klingon is isn't really a priority for most people.

Guys who change their morals to get into a girls pants e.g. my mate who is an atheist blatantly likes this girl who is a Mormon. She was telling me the story of it and I was pointing out some of the holes in its story when he suddenly decides that the story is really cool and it sounds believable. This is despite the fact that we always crack jokes about religion and he has made his opinions of religion known among our friends. Was quite cringe-worthy to be honest.

Yh but she sounded pretty dumb anyways just from the fact she thought he meant the newest star trek film, and not star trek in general. Just for the record, I don't like star trek. (not that there's anything wrong with liking it). Anyways it all sounds like a load of hot air to me.

Goddamn I was sitting next to some dumb whores in the train, in a silence compartment and they were watching a f*cking movie with the volume on maximum. After a while they put the film on pause and guess what? They picked up the phone and starting screaming in it like a retarded spoiler 16-year old slut going: "OH NO HE DIDNT, OMG WTF?!?!?"

f*ck I just wanted to pick up her laptop and hit her in the face with it.

That sucks. Our 'quiet cars' are serious business, and if anyone doesn't follow the rules they have a whole train car of people reminding them. Around here we aren't always polite in reminding people of the rules either biggrin.gif .

@Klingon talk - I haven't seen a Star Trek since the original series, and even I know what a freakin Klingon is.

Sorry I have no grumpy sh*t to contribute. All of my crankiness is very specific to me and my head, and would just be more personal whining from me.

Does anybody get annoyed with people saying "Sorry do I know you?", or is it just me?

Here's an example: I was minding my own business and a message in WLM suddenly pops up asking that very question, but the thing is, she had been on my contacts list for quite a while but we never really spoke. SHE OBVIOUSLY f*ckING DOESN'T REMEMBER IF SHE'S ASKING, I guess if I don't matter enough to be remembered then they can quite literally, f*ck off.

It's like some kind of arrogant, pseudo-politeness with a hint of patronising attitude. (Don't lecture me on that description, English never was my strong point.)

Maybe there's a deep down reason why "Do I know you?" pisses me off, especially since I don't go around adding random people I do not know.

Why not just communicate with me like you would anybody else and if you're questioning yourself who this person is, then simply delete them if they pose no benefit to you.

Bitch fit over.

Yeah they could f*ck off then, but if someone asks me in real life they usually DO know you.

You know what really annoys me? Is when people walk slow through a "kind-of" crowded hallway, and blocks everyone behind them. I've had to deal with slow walkers at school before and it really annoys me. Matter of fact, it's caused me to be late to class TODAY! Luckily my teacher gave me a warning so I didn't receive detention, but really, having to deal with slow walkers in such a manner that causes you to almost receive disciplinary consequences is really stupid.

Walk faster you f*cking fat asses!

I agree with this. However, shove through them, rude but nessecary.

And somewhat related since I guess they feel entitled to the entire hallway. The parking at my school is "first come first serve", so no reserved spots for anyone, including the staff, whoever gets there first gets the spot. But this one girl decided that wasn't good enough for her and brought a traffic cone and blocks off a spot so only she can use it. She was complaining today that someone stole her spot, it annoyed me. I have to arrive on time to get a spot, and she's late almost every single day and is complaining about her spot being stolen.

Ohhhhh I totally hear ya. Here is one very similar that angers me on many levels.

Recently all of our underground transit stations had to have elevators installed to comply with the Americans With Disabilities act. But no - I never see a handicap person using them, all I see are fat lazy people using them.

I'm guilty. My apartment is on the second floor. It's habit I developed back when I was twelve.

Even worse is when they take the elevator down from the second floor to the first. Taking stairs down one floor requires absolutely zero effort. People are seriously lazy.

I don't like the idea of handicap. It should be 'crippled', as people with 'handicaps' aren't really. Those FAT people are handicaped, and if allowed to breed will make more people Crippled by being FAT.Now, a crippled person needs help, but many of the handicaped are just legally lazy.

Heart Condition, High Blood Pressure, Nerves, etc. are all handicaps that are not visible to anyone except the lawyers and medics.

But not everyone that's handicapped is "crippled" plus the term "cripple" is a little bit demeaning.

What annoys me is rude staff. I've been going to the same chinese take away for years and years now, and they're normally such lovely people. But then yesterday they had some new guy who looked about 16 or something like that. I say "hi mate" and he just walks up to me without saying anything, raises his eyebrows, looks at me with his head in a kind of slant and puts his pad and pen out in front of him ready to write. I'd like to at least be greeted you unsociable asshole.

Then he says "4.90 please" Ok I'll give him credit for the please, but then after we exchange the money I say "thanks" and he just turns away without saying anything. It's common curtousy to say "thanks". I'm giving you my custom and want to be thanked. And it happened again when he gave me my order, he just said "there you go" in his dreary monotone vioce and I said "thanks a lot" ... again I'm just blanked.

It's the typical attitude of a disinterested 16 year old working at a chip shop - he doesn't want to be there, the staff just want an extra pair of hands, and he can't wait to clock off. I'm not saying that applies to everyone, as I know people that would love that job and gladly take it over nothing, but it happens a lot. I get it in my town occasionally, and unfortunately it seems being rude back is the only reaction they respond to.

That reminds me of the bitch who works in my old local pub. She's got a face like Shrek, which is a source of endless drunken amusement, but I swear she purposefully goes out of her way to avoid saying "please" or "thank you". When she asks for money, it's always "that'll be £2.90, then". THEN? How rude is that? Never seen the sour-faced skank laugh in 3 years of living there.
