I was doing my usual backup of my dashcam clips when my Sandisk microSD card decides that is too much for it to handle so it decides to corrupt everything on it. I was able to use a recovery program to get the files back but as far as anything is concerned the files are garbage, my computer can still see there is data contained within the files but is unable to preview them. This is all coming from a new microSD I got less than a month ago that is tailored for dashcam use and every time I plug it back into the Dashcam it b*tches about having to be reformatted. I've had it with them and will now only look at Lexar or Samsung MicroSD cards from now on. This is my 2nd microSD and it has shat itself less than a month of use. Not happy Jan.

Normal Sandisk SD cards (non-micro) were alright last I used them but their microSD series leaves a lot to answer for.

Has anyone else had any other experiences with Sandisk MicroSD and is able to fill me in whether I'm just an unlucky person or if their microSD's made by them are flimsy as well? Surely I can't be alone in this.

I've had four SanDisk cards bought for my wife's phones corrupt themselves arbitrarily over the last few years. They seem to be absolute trash.

Without possibly looking too further into them, I'd say Sandisk is on the low end of the SD spectrum, their the chepo go to brand for people who want MicroSD's, just about the top results that come up when you input MicroSD or SD card on Ebay / Amazon etc.

I'm going to be honest through, I can't remember what the problem was with my first except it died after less than a year, it would actually still function and record clips to the dashcam but as soon as it was plugged into my desktop it would self corrupt so It was dead and no longer fit for purpose so I upgraded to an Sandisk High endurance series about a month ago which was recommended if you were going to be using a dashcam and I have to say I'm less than impressed, my main complaint was the self corruption as soon as I moved the microSD from my PC back to my Dashcam, I would not do anything besides move files and I wouldn't touch the file system or anything yet for some reason if I left any data on there and didn't take it off and put it in my dashcam it would corrupt and need to be reformatted.

My first Sandisk SD wasn't tailored to be used for Dashcam recordings but it already outlived the endurance one I got a month ago, if the endurance can't survive it's purpose then it isn't fit for purpose.  Anyway like I said I'm done with them and moved onto Lexar / Samsung. I've just ordered a Samsung Evo Plus MicroSD so we'll see how that goes.

The endurance on the other hand still 90% functions but I just need to be careful how I handle it if it has files on it as I've experienced, it's very easy to corrupt. I don't even know why it corrupts as soon as I move it  back to my Dashcam, must be a design flaw or something gets changed after I've put it into the PC.

If you want a picture for reference this is the high endurance series I got a month ago

I use SanDisk Extreme Pro microSD, Lexar (CF) and Sony (SD) for shooting photography and 4K videos.

The SanDisk micro SD Extreme Pro for my drone (4K) because IIRC at the time, they have the fastest write speeds for writing big 4K files that I need. Granted, the drone doesn't get used as much as my DSLR but it's worked really well for over a year. The Sony ones perform well, considering I'm taking very high-quality 1080p and high burst photography. It's pro-range camera so the files are large.

What you need for a dashcam is something that can write all the data quickly and is designed to perform fast writing with ease. Slower speed cards are going become hot if you put them under pressure like driving around recording continuous footage.  Presumably your dashcam records 720p or 1080p files. Not sure what codec your camera would use but something not too taxing on storage. It might say 4K on the package but there's different types of 4K. Firstly. 4K on my drone wouldn't match the quality of 4K on my DSLR. Secondly, a 4K static camera recording your front driveway for example wouldn't have as much pressure on the card as capturing a lot of moving images, such as dashcam footage. Up to 40mb/s isn't very inspiring for something that claims to record 4K. But again, depends on what you are capturing.

My ScanDisk Extreme Pro captures up to twice what this card offers, mine being 90mb/s. My Sony SD offers 94mb/s/.

My cards get heavy use and while as a photographer, I carry more cards than I need, none of them have gone corrupt on me in years. But I also take good care of removing safely, not switching devices off while they still might be operating.

And that's another thing. How quickly is your camera being switched off after your driving? So if you have a slow card and your card is writing data to the card as it gets switched off, that will be enough to corrupt a card.

So I had to call the police non emergency line yesterday as one of my neighbors security alarms was going off for a long time and didn't seem to stop sounding after a period of time (most modern ones I know off will stop sounding after it has been activated for a set time) So I give the non emergency line a call and as soon as the call is picked up, I have to listen to a good 3+ minutes of recorded messages before IT EVEN connects me to an operator, only at the end of this does it say "we're now connecting you to an operator". I get it It's a non-emergency but this should almost be treated the same as an emergency call should. Callers shouldn't have to listen to the spill I had too unless there is a high volume of calls in which case fine I'll deal with it or you press a button prompt.  This is just delaying possibly important calls from getting through.

I pretty much said to the operator "Hey it's probably nothing but one of my Neighbors alarms is going off and hasn't disarmed and no one is home, can I request an officer to check up please? ". They said they'd send an officer out but I had to go back out so not sure if they even showed, when I got back home it wasn't sounding anymore.

Had a few personal issues that was going on earlier today and decided I'd give one of those mental health lines a call because I wanted to talk to someone (my friends are have their own sh*t going on) I spend 5 minutes on hold listening to crappy music that sounds like nails being dragged on a wall and recordings, have the call answered by a woman with an Indian accent (I'm just describing, I don't mean anything) and I could barely explain myself and what was going on before I was told to call elsewhere, I'm not a Karen or whatever the male equivalent is but I asked to speak to a supervisor because I don't believe it's fair to be fobbing off someone to go elsewhere, especially if they want to talk and clear their mind. I was flat out told no can't transfer to an supervisor and they gave me some bullsh*t excuse so I firmly tell the operator to "forget it" next time I'm suffering and feeling the need to talk, I'll just remember to suffer. I've called that exact mental health line before and talked to a nice bloke who said he was from up north who really helped me calm down, relax, chill and clear my mind.  I call today because I figure someone cares and these are trained professionals, nope not the case. No wonder people on the edge f*cking think no one cares, their worried about getting fobbed off like I did. I feel sorry for the people that get the operator I did, can't imagine they've found "her" too helpful or pleasant.

That is just one operator but someone really on the edge that's possibly enough to trigger them into further self harm and danger. There really should be more training and a little bit more of a background process before you can even volunteer to be an operator at one of these positions.

I called up the other service they told me to bugger off too and told the operator and she sounded literally shocked and I said to her (I don't mean anything by your service, I just go through the first results and people I've had experience with before but If this is how they treat callers I won't be rushing to call back in the future, especially if I'm on edge). I know no one gives a f*ck about me, that's fine because there are better less miserable people out there and I'm just one person on this massive planet that's full of problems but for the 0.1% that may give a f*ck, I want to share what I went through, why I called and how upset that made my feel when I was told to go elsewhere.

I've never called up one of those hotlines but I've been to a therapist before and she was really quite clueless and useless. I'd tell her things about myself and my current situation and how they make me feel and she would be like "Well, I don't understand how that would make you depressed. I don't understand why you feel suicidal." Excuuuuse me? Are you deliberately trying to push me?

What a burp of an experience. Didn't help at all and I've not wanted to open up or seek help since. She was so condescending and ignorant and pretty damn rude when her only job was to listen, be understanding and help me help myself.

I was actually seeing a shrink however midway last year I went into major studies and my schedule made it impossible to see my shrink so for a long time I really had no one to talk too professionally.  In a way I've done well to family members to hide my problems and no that isn't ideal but I feel some people have made me this way because they refuse to accept I've got issues or I'm just making it up or I have no right to be that way and that is why I tend to bawl up and not disclose.  A while or so back this year was the first time I'd used that hotline, all through high school we had numerous health professionals visit and say "hey if your feeling blue, want to talk, got stuff going on, give these numbers a call". I relied on the school councillor in high school so I never really needed to use the hotlines however I'm out in the real world now and everything costs money, seeing a shrink is of course expensive unless you can convince a doctor you really need to see one in which case they can give 10 bulk bill session through our own Medicare system for the year.

When my studies finished up I tried getting in touch with my original shrink however when I did she must've been on vacation, I'd left numerous voice mails even emails trying to catch up but I never heard back, the pandemic happened and I never really could be bothered to follow up so I've just started relying on the hotlines. The downside is I have to repeat myself everytime I need to call, they don't know my backstory, my history or why I'm calling where as you see a shrink once, you build up a rapport and the rest is history. Whether I called the right place tonight I don't know, I've calmed down a little bit however to basically tell callers to bugger off I still believe is... wrong, I just can't put it any other way. If someone was feeling blue, wanted to chat I'd of course chat. I wouldn't feel comfortable telling someone to go elsewhere even if I couldn't help them. Surely these people have got to have some sort of decency and background so they'd have to understand why someone would call in the first place. I don't even tend to use the mental health hotline unless I'm feeling really over the edge, like anxious, highly stressed and want to clear my conscience. However If I don't meet some stupid tickbox, it's so long we can't be assed to help you. If you want to put some stupid guideline before the wellbeing of callers then please do both of us a favour and either quit because your not doing anyone any favours or do the caller a favour and patch them through to another operator because there is probably another operator out there that is more kind hearted and will be willing to forgo some stupid guidelines to make someones night or day better and clear their mind.

Like I said in my OP, this was just one operator and I shouldn't let one poor experience leave me with distaste however when I or someone calls we deserve to be listened too. If it doesn't meet the criteria fine but please just stay on the line and talk, there is a reason the person has called, talking will help calm them down, defuse, distract them and possibly give them some breathing space. I was very calm with the operator until she told me I needed to go elsewhere. I'd already told her I had to get away from my troubles and I'm having a rough afternoon but no never mind that doesn't matter. I really should've filed a complaint however stupid me is I prefer these conversations to be private so I asked the call recording to be stopped (it's opt out by request) and I didn't get her name. I've had my rant and said what has needed to be said.

I wouldn't let my bad experience stop anyone from using these services, if you get an operator like I did, try to get their name and ask for their supervisor (if possible) and if they can't then either disconnect the call and call again hoping to be connected to a different operator or try to file a complaint. Mental health & wellbeing is important the last thing anyone needs is some jackass shooting people down as this is when it leads to situations spiralling into danger.

I had one therapist just for nothing. I break a "new rule" of the school at the time and I was near to complete my career, so, I didn't had another option to choose, except getting kicked out permantly.

I was exhausted by my job going at 10PM at the school just to talk with her plus I don't had interest to talk about another topic except the same reason I was forced to stay with her and after 4 or 5 sessions she got bored and left me to complete my career.

She tried to pull personal information like with another people which they truly by their own decision were seeking help with his mentality, family or the exams of the school. I was dealing with a lot of depression and had avoidance of eye contact and she notice a lot of that, but I never was thinking about suicide or bullsh*t like that, I just wanted my space to be respected and not trying to cross the line about talk by things not everyone wants to share.

My sister pisses me off so f*ckING much!!

As usual I watched my niece and nephew this weekend and as usual I took them home around 5 today but today when we walked into the house it was so hot!!

It was like getting punched in the face by a fire, I took an ambiance room temperature it was 104 degrees inside the house.

Thats not what I’m pissed about, What im

pissed about is that poor Tyson was in this  104 degree house with one tiny desk fan and a small bowl of what that was on its last few licks before it was empty to keep the poor guy cool.

He could hardly get up to greet us so I went over to him and he was just burning up so I had my niece go get me a cold wet towel that I wrapped around him to cool him down.

It turns out their central A/C had gone out but instead of simply asking if I could keep him a few more days she took him home to let him suffer for 9-10 hours in an insulated house with no real mea s to keep him cool.

I called my sister and told her I was taking Tyson home with me and he’ll stay with me until they get their AC fixed she said No I can’t take him I told her....

I wasn’t asking her permission but that I was simply taking him and she can get him back when the A/C was fixed and if she had a problem with that she can call my buddy in Animal Control and explain to him why she left him in a hot house with no means of cooling down

She just said fine, I’ll call you later.

As soon as I got Tyson in the car and turned the AC on Max @ 60 degrees he threw his head back as if he was saying Oooh Yeeeah then gave me some big slobbery kisses.

Now he and Buster are running around playing as if they’re both puppies....

He looks so happy....
