What's happened with yours? Mine and my partners old landlord wanted to up our rent to $500pw for a single bedroom flat above some shops, with no private garden nor balcony (mind you 5 minute walk to the beach, but the city I was living in, not an exclusive selling point). We lived there for two years then all of a sudden pulled that move, too ridiculous of a rent to pay for the place so my partner moved up the line to a sleepout her folks have on the back of their property, I was to follow suit a few weeks later, until all this covid-19 started.

Our country is now in lockdown, can't travel to see her (shes 7hr drive away), luckily we moved out when we did and I'm back staying at my folks place for much cheaper rent. But anyway, not sure why I ran with that story - but landlords where I live now are in pretty strict lockdown laws during this pandemic at the moment, no raising rent, no evicting during this period.

Nothing to do with our house we own ours thankfully, used to be an old couple lived opposite us who both passed away within days of eachother, house went on the market and got bought up by some Chinese landlords through a housing agency. They basically gutted the place out and did some work on it but not to what I'd consider ideal, for example it had no bath just a shower, front windows of the house are kinda extended out with a canopy (not sure on the technical term for it) and some thieves stole the lead sheeting from the top causing water to leak into the living room. Eventually a friend of our family (couple with two young children and one adult) started renting it, cleaned it up proper/decorated etc, it still had some issues so the housing agency tried to contact the landlords who ignored them so the agency took a month's worth of rent and put it into repairs. About a week ago the landlords up and decided they want the house back so they can properly fix it up and sell it privately, and essentially they're kicking the family out who've been there about two months tops. Also gave them three weeks notice which afaik is against the law so the agency stepped in and they now have two months to find a new house and move again. From what I heard there was a pretty heated debate between the agency/the family and the landlord resulting in the landlord saying "i don't care I just want them out" after hearing they have kids etc. f*cking scumbag move.

My phone contract has run its course, so I've opted to upgrade to the new iPhone SE that came out last week. I'm very impressed with the phone, don't get me wrong, but I forgot to order a case to arrive alongside so now I have this delicate mixture of electronics and glass I'm scared to use. I've had a thin durable case on my iPhone 8 for so long I took it for granted but I hate the feeling you get whenever you invest in new technology and you're worried about scuffs and scratches. I've been carrying it around the house like a Faberge egg.

Yeah, yeah, i know, "people are dying", I'm fortunate. I still have a fragile phone.

This is more solid crankiness than a peeve so here it goes...

Companies exploiting coronavirus by producing commercials that simulate video conferencing or "distancing".

Actually all of the commercials that use coronavirus.  Most of them start off with some soft piano and you can almost hear tears in their voice as they remind us that they care.  Does Grubhub really care?  Or are they taking advantage of a situation that would really help their business along?

The companies don't care, but they have to pretend to because it's good for business. I suppose they care in the sense that if more people die, less people will be using their services. Let's be honest though, the hermits amongst us are more likely to order take-out food so I don't know the demographics are for the insincerity.

it does, but I've had this case for 2 years and it's starting to look and feel awful. I instead went with a solid black matte look one.

This post was originally just going to be a reply so I didn't seem ignorant, but this has just happened and I forgot how much it annoyed me.

Vague error messages. Error messages can be annoying enough, but this is literally all I'm given. What exactly am I supposed to do with this information? I know something went wrong because you're not displaying what I asked. Somehow, I've worked that out. What now? Any clues? Are you playing online charades? I've reloaded but that's all I can do, because you're not even giving me an option to try again. A single crumb of information would be nice. Should I close the site and come back later? How exactly did something "go wrong"? I'm a big boy, I can handle it, just tell me so we can both move on and grow.

This might just be me but I really f*cking despise it when you haven't spoken to someone in a while, they message you out the blue some sh*t like "hey what's up how've you been", you respond with "yeah not too bad thanks, yourself?" and instantly they just dive into a dark negative convo about everything that's going wrong in their life. Don't get me wrong obviously I care about my friends but I dunno man I feel like they could atleast ask if they can talk to you about something instead of diving headfirst into it like I'm their f*cking shrink.

I’m so done with my sister, My niece turned 9 this week and since we can’t have a party it was decided we’d have a Birthday parade for her like many others ha e done.

It was just supposed to be friends and family but as a surprise I talked to the local Police & Fire Chiefs & Local Sheriff Lt and got a few Police, Fire Trucks/Ambiance’s as well as a few Sheriff Deputies in several of their special units including the SWAT vehicle to show up.

Everything went great she loved it and after the parade we went home, Well today I was just looking through pictures and videos from yesterday only to see pictures of a little party with the neighbors and their kids as well as some cousins on the dad’s side.

What am I passed about? My sister never mentioned the party to me nor my girls she just flat out didn’t invite us, I don’t personally care if I wasn’t invited but to snub my girls like that?

My girls love their little cousins to death and invite them to EVERYTHING we do yet my sister can’t invite them to one thing but invites her cousin family and kids even though I watch them every weekend so they can have some adults time.

Nos I’d never dream of telling my niece and nephew they can’t come over if they ask but I think from now on my sister is going to be staying home a few weekends a month and will now need to find a new taxi driver for the kids to and from aftercare and their other activities.

I don’t blame my brother in law because 9 out of 10 times he’s not informed of some decisions because she either doesn’t consult him until afterwards or not at all she’s made in the past only to get mad and chew her ass out when he found out....

Like last month when we had a big storm and lost power for three days I asked my sister if we could stay for a few nights until our power got restored and she flat out told me No, Go to a hotel once my BIL found out he tore her a new one after I told him we were at a hotel and he asked why we just didn’t come stay with them and I told her she said no, go get a hotel.

That was one of the never told him because she knew if he found out he would’ve invited us but at that point I would’ve declined as she just would’ve been sh*tty to us the whole stay.

Sorry to be this way but I feel the rioters in Minneapolis just used the death of George Floyd as a form of excuse to loot businesses. Judging by the people who were seen looting a certain business in a few posted videos, they didn't look like your class A citizens, more like the people who want to use this to justify their sh*tty behavior.

If one wants to protest in a non-destructive way I'm fine with that but you cross the line when you start targeting businesses. There's simply no reason or excuse too.

I do not like ordering from China solely for the fact I'm an impatient bastard and when I order something I want it ASAP, so riddle me why the f*ck these Chinese sellers on eBay disguise themselves as being in the UK when they're most definitely not? Utter f*cking bullsh*t.

I was going to gripe about Taco Bell getting rid of the Nacho Party pack then saw there is a new one so instead, just get off my lawn! But seriously, anyone else remember when you could get a whole meal at Taco Bell for $1, and a large drink for like $.50 more?

Call me silly billy but I thought this problem was exclusive to our local Ebay website, apparently not.

The Chinese sellers tend to use multiple accounts with the same listing formatting and a dead giveaway their 99% a Chinese seller is to look at their profile as they'll usually say based in CHINA and yes I know there is a difference between the products location & sellers location however 99% of the time their lairs so if their profile says based in CHINA but product location is in my state I tend to 100% avoid them, I don't have the patience to be dealing with packages coming later than what they should be & dealing with sellers who are clearly being dishonest in the first place. Now another giveaway is to also look at the items location on the listing page for it, Chinese sellers here tend to be very vague and just say "SYDNEY AUS", any genuine seller would be a bit more transparent. They likely also use Darwin & I believe sometimes Melbourne location for their listing as it'll prevent their listing from getting filtered out if the buyer filters out listings from outside of the country.

Unfortunately this has been an ongoing problem for the last couple of years and numerous people on the EBAY discussion board have brought it to the attention of Ebay and Ebay just doesn't see the problem and does nothing to fix it. We have a Consumer watchdog but I'm clueless as to why they haven't torn Ebay to shreds yet over this as I feel this is something the watchdog should be investigating as It is deceptive & misleading to list an item as in the country the buyer is in but it turns up two weeks later with Chinese writing & stamps on it (Have seen numerous cases before so it does happen.)

Nope it's happening here too, it's popped up alot when I've been looking for pc/mtb parts - item location often just Manchester or London and "economy delivery" which is pretty standard for listings, but then in the small print it'll mention something about 3-5 weeks for shipping. To top it off, as you said there are some sellers based in China who genuinely have the items in the UK (probably some wholesale operation), but it makes it very hard to discern between the two. Between the sh*tty sellers and Paypal seemingly holding the funds on just about everything I sell, makes you wonder why the f*ck we still bother with eBay.

I've never really sold through EBAY as it is just too much hassle for myself for little gain, I'm not really up for dealing with the shipping hassles & B&M if the buyer isn't happy with something and PP / EBAY siding with the buyer and sure it could all be a 0.1% chance of happening but I'd rather not, my mission objective would be just to sell sh*t, get rid of it and get paid & move on.

I've just stuck to Gumtree (Which is an Ebay Subsidiary for local listings) and yes there are still nutcases both sellers & buyers on there but as it's main focus is no bidding, local pickups only, and pay what the seller is asking for unless you negotiate a price, it is really a lot less hassle. I sold some old LEGO toys through there last year and made some decent cash from it and it was a solid transaction. Just have to be on the lookout for timewasters, no shows, scammers & idiots who want a $100 item for $10 and for you to drive over to them and drop it off.

COVID if the postal network was under extreme demand I'd probably understand the extra shipping timeframe but If I was in Manchester and the item was said to be in "Manchester" and it said it was going to take that long to ship It'll be ringing alarm bells, no way is any reasonable person who reads the fine print going to go for this listing when there is probably another seller with a similar / same item that can get it to you in a couple of business days at the most.
