Employers who advertise jobs but require experience in one thing: RF scanning. I'm qualified to work in warehousing and distribution (even have a Cert. 3) but don't have the skills to use an RF scanner

I've been turned down for many jobs because I don't have experience using an RF scanner but why not train employees on the job? I'm not going to waste $165 for a 3 hour short course on how to use an RF scanner, I'd rather use that $165 on something more useful.

I'll have more chances in working in real estate with an Agents Representative Certificate which takes 3 days and $660.

But how much would you be making in the warehouses if you had gotten the job because you knew how to use RF Scanners?

Amazon warehouse workers make around $13hr avg starting pay for 40 hours a week so you'd make back that $165 on your first pay so if the job pays a decent salary the $165 investment would be worth it IMO.

Not saying you SHOULD do this but RF scanners aren't hard to learn at all really....it would be easy to learn it on the job but you'd have to have enough smarts to fake your way through it until you really get the hang of it and on parts that you don't get you could ask another employee and just simply say at my other job we had it set up differently can you show me This or  That?

Getting into Real Estate taking the classes, getting your license and then finding a job in an already full market at least in my area and there is no guarantees you'll get anything juicy or make a ton of money a friend of mine went into Real Estate thinking she was gonna make a ton of money she took the classes, took the test and got her license got hired to a decent firm but still struggles to make ends meet because she's only able to sell low-income houses so her commission is quite small she's basically living paycheck to paycheck.

I quit smoking weed the other day so I can pass a UA for a union laborer job next month and since then I have been dealing with some serious insomnia. I managed to fall asleep for a whopping hour earlier and have not been able to fall back asleep. I have to leave for work in 8 hours and I can't call out because I am the only employee. Good times.

im in a similar situation as you

pro tip - get some melatonin. here in australia they can hand it to you over the counter, no prescription needed. basically it works to get you in a good sleeping routine. so first few nights of taking it you might not feel the effects but after a few days you'll start feeling drowsy and tired a few hours after taking it.

Pretty sure the wage for warehousing and distribution varies here in Australia, $45,000 to $69,000 p/y, RF skills or not.

If I landed an interview with a job that required RF experience and they asked me how I learned to use an RF scanner, I'd say a youtube video and the interview would be stopped immediately for wasting time and escorted off the premises lol

The Coconut Kid

Are extortionate short courses an Australian thing? I had to cough up close to $1,000 for a security Cert. 2 (and most firms want you to have the Cert .3 at a cost of $1,500). $120 for an RSA. Another $1,000 on top for the actual license and "approved" crowd controller endorsement. Was told I faced a $10,000 fine otherwise. It took me a while to just to break even.

My ex-partner works as a cleaner and was told one day (despite her experience) she needed her Certs in cleaning operations. Her response was quite comical as she turned around and asked them in disbelief if they thought she'd lived her entire life in a f*cking pigsty.

I would just look up what module in the short course teaches you how to use the RF scanner and tell them, if asked in an interview, "I learned how to use the RF scanner when I did my [bla bla] unit of competency," and learn from Youtube. Most training providers, I've found, stick their videos on there anyway, and that's if they haven't got PDF's of their powerpoint slides you can access through Google.

Well you obviously wouldn't say youtube video you'd say something like previous jobs we used it for checking inventory and ect

That's around $5,400 a month without taxes being taken out so that's way more than the avg $13 an hour that's closer to $20 an hour here in the U.S at a 40 hour week/160 hours a month only nets you around $2,000 a month which only rounds out to around $24,000 a year.

People here in the U.S would kill to have a factory job that paid $45,000 a year that still comes out to around $3,500-$3,700 a month

That depends on yer cost of living on top of going for AUD to USD though.

But to answer the question- no, it's not a solely Australian thing. Specialist courses are mind-blowingly expensive, as are professional qualifications that are designed to arise from them. I simply don't understand how many of them can cost so much. A 5-day SANS course costs near enough £6k with VAT. Over a grand a day for a training course that's normally delivered in a class of 20 is a pretty sweet money-spinner for the Institute. Don't get me wrong, they're fantastic pieces of training- I learned more about technical process and methodology for malware reverse engineering in 5 booze-filled days in Munich than I've learned in nearly 6 years of being a full-time infosec professional, but specialism always means big money. I (or more accurately my company) has to pay £1,920 every three years just for me to resit my two CREST qualifications- no training at all there. One is a one-day, half-practical, half-theoretical onsite exam, and the other is two half-days of pure theory, so the overheads can't be that high. The second one is basically run by Pearson Vue (those people who make you sit in booths with an old 15" CRT and noise cancelling headphones like when you do a driving theory test). I've really annoyed myself by looking up the cost of a PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification; they're only about £250 which make most of my professional qualifications look f*cking extortionate.

As an aside, $45k AUD is $32k USD. Cost of living in Australia is generally higher than the US.

That makes you grumpy?... weird.  I feel they are vital to conversational typing in today's new world.

I do have an ellipses bitch though.  When people just use a string of dots............ And not a proper ellipsis.

I'm not one to comment and or remark on spelling and grammar,  but I do have a grumpy punctuation gripe.  People who use exclamation points in professional emails.  Even if it is a "thank you" kind of email.

Every time I post here (here being GTAforums) I quickly remember why I stop. It's a f*cking cesspool of idiots, manbabies, wannabes, and weenies. I've never sucked up to anyone. People are so f*cking spineless they might as well have been born invertebrates.

I search endlessly for a topic that's not littered with trash. Expecting something different, I always get the same outcome. One voice tells me to move on because of the...utterly redundant sense of degeneracy I feel when I stare at someone's post for too long. The other tells me there's a reason why you keep coming back, you just haven't found it yet.

I know one thing for sure. All forums are the same, and so are many of its people. They may go by a different username and schtick, but they are clones one in the same. It's hard to find anyone sane anymore. I need a f*cking vacation.

OT: My job was never exactly a paid vacation but lately it's been too stressful to handle. I don't just get to leave work and go home anymore, I take this f*cking job home with me, I take this job home and it f***ing ties me to the bed, and it f***in' f***s me from ass till breakfast. Then it wakes me up in the morning with a cup full of piss slammed in my face, slaps me about the chops to make sure I'm awake enough so it can kick me in the f***ing balls then sends me off to the office for seconds. I've been burnt out as a motherf*cker these past couple weeks, I haven't got any energy left in me, my mind is all over the place, I can't concentrate, I've been losing my sh*t and snapping at people who don't deserve it and generally feeling like sh*t on a hot tin roof.

Ordered some fancy sleeved cables for my PC. Something I've been meaning to do for ages. They arrive today and three of the four are wrong.

24 pin mobo is perfect.

8 pin mobo is perfect fit but about 15cm too short. My fault for failing to take into account how much less flexible braided cables are than standard ones.

6+2 pin PCIE are for the newer version of my PSU so don't fit.

Thankfully ShakMods are awesome and are redoing the PCIE ones for free but I'll have to order a 90cm 8 pin...

Found out this morning that they replaced Married With Children 5 am to 9 am time slot with friggin 2 Broke Girls, Everybody Loves Raymond and King Of Queens, While I actually like King Of Queens, Married With Children was part of my morning routine i'd wake up around 5am and watch an hour of Married With Children before getting my girls up for school and make their breakfast and then I'd get my coffee and go sit down in the living room and watch the last 2 hours.

What makes it suck even more no other channels are showing it, Not even TVLand but yet they're airing Roseanne even after they said they wouldn't

The weekly shop is without a doubt the absolute worst part of the week; no matter how good the previous days have been there's something about shopping that makes me want to come home and down a bottle of Clorox. In an ideal world everyone would go in, get what they need and get the f*ck out but instead people decide to have gatherings in the middle of the aisle and have a catch up with people completely oblivious to the fact they're blocking literally everyone. Between that, people randomly stopping in the middle of isles out of the blue and the fact I ALWAYS end up with a trolley that is somehow f*cked I propose we send Trident missiles into ASDA.

Well... The company I work for has filed for insolvency, wont know what's going off until Friday, but sadly, I don't have high hopes. It was a good 2 year stint while it lasted I guess. The pay wasn't great, but some of the people I've met there were the best people I've ever met. It was the sort of place where going to work wasn't a chore, sure, it had its fair share of bullsh*t, but overall it was a great place to work. It's a shame to think that it might not be around much longer.
