A relative of mine passed away. We didn't really talk much, but damn. I just got told about it not long ago, maybe 5-10 mins ago.

 

This is the first time anything like this has happened in my life. Is it wrong that I don't really feel that much emotion right now, other than a little sadness? F*ck...I...Damn it.

Your typical ten-a-penny. Despite me losing,.... uh, wait. I'll count 'em.

1- From mom's side, you have an uncle (the youngest, no less!), a cousin, aunt's husband (is there's any name for this type of relatives I'm not aware of? There's none in Arabic so I'll assume the same for English), and my grandfather (although that's considered cheating, given how my mother was friggin' 10. I wasn't even born then).

 

2- From pa's side, you have an uncle and my grandparents (again, its kinda cheating, mentioning grandpa; da might have been old then but he still haven't met ma so...).

 

3- From non-family members, you have multiple, close friends to me and/or my parents. I'm not even gonna bother counting them (too many+sh*t memory), but its at least 2.

 

4- If pets count, then at least 9 (disappearance counted). My first 2 pets disappeared (both were pregnant at the time so I'm assuming Labor hit them when they were out), lost 2 cats AND a dog almost in the same month (said dog was sick, and the two cats kept staying with her so whatever the poor dog had must've moved to the cats), followed by 2 way later on (remember the kitten I was bottle-feeding? Yeah, it was her and her sibling, the last one is still alive though - Oldie), and then, lastly, one last kitten. I'm not even gonna bother listing the other "you're a pet simply because I'm feeding you, idgaf about you!" pets.

 

^ All that and none of them hit me TOO emotionally. I cried on my pets, yes, but not as much as one should expect. Didn't even *actually* cry on my freakin' family members. So ya, you're t=not the only one.

 

 

OT: Finally figured out what's causing all dem Skyrim CTDs. Multiple saves decided to corrupt (YAY!). At least the very first one didn't. FUUUUU

Sorry to hear about the loss of your relative. I don't think its wrong to not feel sadness, you just weren't close and that happens with a lot of families. When I was young, maybe 6 or 7 my father died and he was always in and out of my life and I knew things were bad at one point. I even heard my mom receive the phone call about his death. I was outside playing with my half brothers and knew what it was about. At the funeral I did not shed one tear. Maybe because I didn't quite understand death or that I just was not too close with my father. He was not very nice to my mom and half brothers but I heard he treated me well and loved me. Most recently I graduated college and laid the lei's I've received from ceremony on his grave stone, I broke down then thinking how proud he must've been.

 

The bottom line is to not dwell on someones death and be stuck feeling bad and sorry. But on a day by day basis, remember how they lived; so in a way they will always be alive in your mind and heart.

Also Diani, I'm fairly certain traffic rules dictate that you are supposed to be riding in the road. I know that a lot of motorists drive in a manner which is hazardous to bicyclists, but on a bicycle you pose a threat to pedestrians(for whom the sidewalk is intended). A bicycle is a vehicle by definition.

It's also been a recurring theme in my life, having people refer to me as an anorexic and 99% of the time, it's come from someone who is larger than the average person. Hypocritical nonsense.

 

 

 

E - Yeah, I agree with Diani. I ride my bike on the path too for the same reasons. Too many idiots on the road. Of course, I always avoid people (move onto the grass, get off and walk around people etc) so I don't get in anyones way or I use the bike paths whenever possible.

Lol. I rather be fined than ride my bike on the road. I refuse to put my life at risk because some one, either drunk or suffering from road rage, tries to run me over. Although that would make for a wonderful lawsuit. Asshole goes to prison for a few years and I take everything he owns. I generally don't believe in suing people, especially over stupid things, anything vehicle related is the exception.

The level at which they are is one where they will ACTUALLY kill a person for being who they are. Kicking the living sh*t out of them is a defensive move. You cannot compare the two acts of violence. The latter is preventative, stopping an actual, phyiscal threat.

 

e: it's also totally cool when it's retaliatory. Remember, these are people upholding arbitrary gender roles and traditional views with threats and violence. The idea that being violent is "stooping to their level" is asinine.

This is why it's important to beat down on transphobia. There are sh*tty people(like gta stu) out there who perpetuate horrible views(like the ones gta stu have), which dehumanize trans people(like gta stu does). This perpetuation can create a consensus whereby trans people are regarded as "lesser" than cis people.
Transphobia is rampant in online communities. Report it and call it out. Don't ever let it slide.

You won't have much luck, most of the racist, xenophobic, derogatory, homophobic, sexist and offensive ones are hidden aside from a few in the Gay Protagonist thread. That's what got him banned.
