Looking through the first posts and conversations I had here reminded me of why I left the online section so quickly.

I've actually wound myself up by re-reading the kind of pathetic nonsense that was plastered everywhere.

 

Every time online vs gen chat has come up, I've just thought 'oh online isn't that bad'. It's as though I selectively chose to forget half of the sh*t that made me stop visiting that section.

 

E - Extra grump. My dog has the most potent farts and his breath smells exactly like his farts do. He has days where he farts every half hour and the smell lingers for about ten minutes. Today is one of those days and I'm starting to feel ill.

To be fair, both sides are equally sh*t. There are time periods where Online is more sh*t than General Chat, and other times it's General Chat that are more sh*t than Online.

This rant dates to yesterday but the Internet shat itself yesterday so...

 

One of the mods I have installed to Skyrim is called Take Notes! - Journal of the Dragonborn. As the name suggests, you can write up journals in-game. Yesterday I have finally reached Whiterun, and it was dark (I always set the Time Scale to 20-30 when I'm in the wilderness, 7 in a town and 5 in a city) so I headed inside the Bannered Mare to get warm get some rest (I also have Frostfall and Realistic Needs & Diseases installed). So I sat down by a table and opened the TakeNotes menu to start writing what happened during my travel from the last entry (city of Falkreath if you're wondering) to now.

 

Wrote some stuff, then had to exist to check the Quests and Map to refresh my memory.... and TakeNotes froze. No, not the game. The mod's menu. Couldn't exit or do anything other than move the cursor around. Had to Alt-Tab numerous times so I can Ctrl-Shift-Esc to bring the Task Manager and shut down the game.

PhD-bearing Astrophysicist though he may be, any time NDT talks about anything that isn't specifically astrophysics, I just want to put a pillow over his face. And he's been creating beefs with the biological community over a handful of nonsense expulsions on biology; and when called out by actual biologists, he has been blatantly dismissive and disrespectful. He acts like he knows all, and most of the time, it's trivial sh*t nobody cares about, but because someone gave him a f*cking platform, he treats it as an excuse to sound off.

It's a pet peeve when I see "off of" instead of just "off." It's an extra word for no reason other than misuse of the English language and it's now acceptable. Of course, it's a little irrational and contradictory of me to be slightly irked by this because I'm not an English language purist nor am I good ambassador for grammar and English in general.

 

One other is "I could care less." What's more worrisome about someone using this incorrect phrase is someone that defends it.

 

In case you are one of those people, it's "I couldn't care less." There is zero care to give. There is no care given. Not you do care and you can actually care less, lol.

One of the most ridiculous things I've seen made the "news" today here in Perth.

 

Two boys were elected at a local school as head students instead of one head boy and one head girl like it usually is.

 

That's literally it. And it made headlines. I guess cause its International Womens Day and all. Still ridiculous. The school even said that none of the girls were up for the responsibility of the job, which makes sense.

 

I don't care if its international womens day or black history month, when will people learn that people are awarded based on merit and not gender or race? As Adam Buckley (ADoseOfBuckley) once put it "I don't want a kind-of qualified doctor who sorta knows what they're doing to be checking me for rectal cancer that the hospital chose because they wanted to look good and diverse on staff photo day"

How so? The Online section is aggressive to new members and people who tend to show disdain towards parts of the game in some threads, sure, but the Online section as a whole didn't invade a thread and derail it with dead jokes out of sheer spite towards the thread's creator.
