How am I supposed to feel without a Feels thread? This sucks.

 

My depression is getting a hold of me again, I'm slipping further down the spiral. Starting to hate myself and everyone and everything. Freaking parents being so overprotective when I was young "Come home straight after school, you can't go out with anyone, don't talk to the other kids they're anti-Christian and a bad influence" and now they complain that I'm anti-social, untrusting and don't go out enough and a "backslider".

 

I find it so hard to let go of the past, things that went good or wrong and things I wish that could have been. I want to move out, I'm really starting to hate my family, but I'm also scared of change. I don't have a job still, I'm worried about what kind of people I'll have to be living with, I'm worried about getting even more lonely without my family if that's possible, and I'm constantly struggling between needing to be social and hating being around people.

I'm not going to lie, that made me feel sorry for you...I'm a very weak dude when it comes to feelings...

at any rate ''abusing'' my job provider was the way to go.. it got me out of the nightmare somewhat lol...

 

i just want to work but i can't do it because the jobs aren't their and even if they were i aint got the paper to get me said job

Y'know I've never personally met or known a religious family in my area, ever. That's pretty odd actually.

 

I don't know how old you are but I don't believe you should have to force yourself to be sociable, that can do the complete opposite of make you happy. I am pretty much isolated (not saying you should live like that, I don't think it's the healthiest way to live) but I'm happier and calmer than I've ever been.

You can't please everyone, as cheesy as it sounds.

 

If I were you, I'd focus on nothing but myself for a short while - get your head straight, fully think about yourself and your life, then eventually start living again without all that unnecessary stress.

(That's probably not even helpful, I'm only speaking from person experience).

Nothing. The stoicism that's expected from 'a man'--mostly by other men--is actually damaging on many levels, both physical and psychological, personal and interpersonal, and that was kind of the point of my sh*tpost above. Look around on this forum, you'll see a lot of men and boys that use this forum as a springboard to project their repressed anger and sadness in an alienating society that expects them to disguise their true feelings at all times, that expects them to "be a man".

Well I've been isolating myself for the past four or five years trying to think about myself and my life and I still feel lost. I really don't know what to do, I've almost completely given up on everything but I can't stay at home forever just f***ing around. My parents are pretty religious but it's not like they go around the neighbourhood making it known. They don't exactly approve of some of my life choices though. And I'm 23 by the way.

 

I need to get my feelings off my chest, but then I feel bad talking about them. Essentially, I want attention, just like my social needs, then when I get it I don't want it anymore, but I don't like being ignored. And on it goes. Why are my emotions so complicated and confusing?

Men are simply not as disposed to crying as women. It's not a societal thing. Nowadays Western society is fine with men crying.

Not really. Don't know what I'd even want to study. I did try sixth form/high school/college/whatever you call it when I was 17 but I hated it, it was like my first day at school all over again, gave it up in my second week.

 

Maybe that is worth a try, things might be different.

If your heart isn't in something going through the motions will not help build confidence. You'll just learn coping and compromising skills.

 

Building confidence can be hard if you think you lack it from the beginning. Gotta have some confidence to build off after after all.

 

I say just don't give a f*ck and do,be,act how you want to...not how you think you should. Being yourself helps in discovering what 'you' are good at.

 

 

 

 

 

If I rambled my grumpy sh*t of the day I'd probably lose my job and have to relocate far from my city.
